LOL the clamour for potato head now from some Villa fans just has me in stitches . We didn't want Eck because he was an ex nose but hey old Bruce is ok right?
Furthermore yes he's got four promotions on his record but they are with the very same sides HE RELEGATED from the Premiership. And when you look at his premiership record it's a nightmare really. Sunderland? Wigan? Hardly set the place on fire at those two clubs did he?
But like I said before some Villa fans are "British manager first" before common sense and logic. Had RDM been English with his track record people would be going crazy over him like they have over that lackluster clown Pearson.
I expect RDM to be confirmed either tomorrow or Tuesday. Then after that the FA wil hopefully rubber stamp the takeover and we can get on with building this great club up again. Something tells me Commoli will be in the mix as well tbh.

RDM been at 1/10 for days now, that's the shortest price for anyone so far, it's looking highly likely.
As for Hollis comments about it could be a British manager, I think if so, it will come completely out of left field and be a SHOCK, someone like Hughes or Dyche.
Be glad when it's all sorted so we can get a clearer view of how serious the Doctor is.

The Doc already spoke publicly about RDM and how he want's a manager with a "high profile". So the writing has been on the wall for a while now and all this "I'd take Bruce over RDM" talk is just futile at the end of the day.

Read into a "track record" what you will. As an example of a manager with a good CV that takes into account domestic and European "success", then we ought not to be looking any further than Steve McClaren-ex international manager, domestic cup winner in England, took an unfashionable club to a major European final, and has won a title in the top league in another country. You might argue that McClaren has a better record than Di Matteo if you are taking into account an entire picture. As I've said previously, for me it seems the owner wants to appoint on a "showbiz" ticket if he goes the Di Matteo route. Fair enough, it's his club to do with as he pleases now. Some are impressed with glamour.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
The Doc has said he wants a marketable manager. So unless we plan on selling a new range of Villa branded Cabbage-Patch Kids, it won't be Steve fucking Bruce.
He'd be the last manager I want here. Would rather have misery-arse Lambert or Big Eck back.

Well I'd argue Mclaren doesn't actually have a better record than RDM? I mean Mclaren failed with England, failed with Nottingham Forest, failed with Wolfsburg, failed with Derby (to an extent) and has now failed with Newcastle. His "success" is based on stints at two clubs really which I guess is better than Pearson who's success is all at Leicester. But anyway back to RDM, looking at his record he's had relative success at all four of the clubs he's managed hence the 50% win ratio. People have this assumption that he's never "built" a team but looking at other forums the word is he DID actually clear out 25 players at West Brom and brought in nearly 15. So he had a huge had in building that side that finished second in the championship and got promoted.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
I think that RDM is a very talented manager but I don't think that he is suited to the championship. I know he got the baggies up. I would take Bruce if we could get him, failing that I would give Mick McCarthy a chance. I know that they are not the most glamorous of appointments but I think both of them would get us promoted, I just think that RDM is to much like Garde, an intelligent nice guy but no balls for the championship. We need an old fashioned meat and two veg kind of guy.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Most teams these days that get promoted play good football, just because it's the Championship it doesn't mean to say you have to play old fashioned dinosaur football to do well.
No thanks to Bruce, with the team Hull have he should have done a lot better than to get them up through the play-offs, and then he only just managed it.

Bruce has relegated as many teams as he promoted!!!!!
He is a myth!!!
And that side yesterday was full of PL players and they still couldn't get automatic promotion??
Rubbish manager!

Hull may have been promoted with Bruce but only in the crazy, mindless world of the play-offs - they actually finished fourth in the league, 6 points behind 3rd placed Brighton.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
RDM over Bruce anyday the week for me, i see Bruce as a boring manager that as already said struggled to get Hull promoted even though they had good quality Prem players like Diame Hernandez Robertson Huddelstone Livermore etc etc compared to other teams they were far superior quality wise yet struggled to get back promoted,
Bruce = Lerner type of cutbacks specialist type manager NO THANKS!

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Potato Head, like Pearson, would be a short term fix to get us up who would then need replacing in the premier league.
RDM has the previous experience to warrant seeing what he can do. He's gotten a shit Baggies team promoted after largely rebuilding their squad, got MK to the playoffs. If we spend £40m then we get promoted, but RDM could take us further in the Prem than Bruce ever would.

Surely those suggesting Bruce are either on the wind up, drunk, or have no knowledge of football...

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
RDM does seem to be the outright favorite at the moment. Either him or Pearson for me. Maybe the deal has already been done behind the scenes and we are just waiting for new ownership to be confirmed. I dunno, everything to do with us is a bloody guessing game at the moment.
Edit....Just seen that Pearson has gone to Derby. Oh well RDM it is then
