Who Will be the Next Villa Manager
Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Simon Grayson was sacked twice in 12 months before becoming Preston's manager, not for me!

I think we may be looking at this from the wrong angle. Hollis has announced we will be appointing a Head of Football. Surely we will get that appointment done first, before we choose a manager, so that he can be involved.

If I am led to believe the manager will NOT be reporting to the HOF, so in effect has nothing to do with that appointment.

That's true, but surely if we intend to have a "joined up thinking" board, then they should all have an input, even if the manager reports directly to Bernstein. I don't mean management by committee, but all reading from the same page, if you know what I mean.

That is a bit radical especially by Aston Villa standards!

Ugh... What a depressing list... Bruce and Pearson are the two front runners from the betting sites. Of those two, I'd prefer Bruce. Pearson just seems like Sherwood 2.0 to me.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
At this moment in time a ROD OF IRON at BMH is what might be needed and Pearson would have the lazy half hearted legion on their toes atleast, however, for me we would always be average at best, like an Allardyce or a Pulis.
I like the idea of a Garde type, modern game, modern thinking etc but he's not a man manager for this level, he would imo be suited to a higher standard, if he came into a better structure with higher level players he may have been fine, playing nice footy with very good players is much easier, we need to WIN, ugly if possible, but win anyway we can.
We need a middle ground, Moyes, Rodgers, Howe etc.
I would like the change to happen now as I think the remaining games will give new manager enough time to assess who stays and who goes and how bad Guzan really is.

That is very unfair on Pearson who has actually achieved something i.e. promotion with Leicester. He may be a bit mad but how many of us could claim to be sane?

Any manager will come with flaws.
Those old to remember Ron Saunders will remember he had a chequered career befor and after villa.
I would really like Moyes - but even he hasn't 'done it' for some time now.

I honestly think its the right club at the right time for him, a great project now that Hollis and Co are involved, a place for him to repair his reputation and a big club that he can mould into his own within a less pressurised league next year.

He would definitely be my first choice and perhaps he might reconsider us with our new structure?

I'll say it again, it's basically Pearsons side currently sat at the top of the league. It's Pearsons side that won all those games at the end of last season and have carried it on magnificently through this season. His players, his style ingrained in those players. He might have a side to him that seems a bit distasteful to some, but which managers haven't? I remember John Gregory wasn't exactly PC and to everyone's taste. Most of the successful managers have some sort of edge to them that makes them unpalatable to certain sections. I'm personally not bothered about Aston Villa teams/managers being thought of as respectful and nice, I prefer to have an element of success and be thought of as bastards if necessary.

Get Pearson now. Hopefully he'll have laid out one or two players by the Chelsea game.

LoL you know that would be the only silver lining if he was appointed, with any luck he would spark Gabby and Guzan clean out

Oooh Moyes apparantly (Mirror i think...Yea i know ) telling his mates he would drop down a division but ONLY for Villa!! Now this sounds more promising for me and would surely be an ideal fit for all concerned!! Moyes needs exactly the same rebuild that we do! I feel he would do well here actually but then what do i know

As opposed to Sunderland, Newcastle or Norwich? Riiiiight. Thanks for that Daily Mirror. Sam who won't be sacked from Sunderland, even if they go down, Newcastle who have just appointed Benitez or fucking Norwich?
If there are four clubs I would bet Moyes won't be in charge of at the start of next season, there you go. Can I get a bet on that somewhere because I consider that to be free money.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Isn't David Moyes very old fashioned like MON where you have the manager deciding everything and an owner that just signs the checks?
How will Moyes work with Lerner's DOFs, and bunch of directors?

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
If the job is offered to Moyes and he accepts, then Moyes will know exactly how Villa operate and accepts the terms and conditions, exactly like Remi did!
