I can't see a deal collapsing on the back of failed DD. Onviously I can't speak intelligently on the accounting practices of Aston Villa but I'm pretty sure between ML, Lerner, Fox and the associated legal and accounting teams that all the claret and blue ducks are nicely in a row.

On the surface, there needs to be consideration of what's on offer:
Villa Park, BMH and the attached land, Lerner's personal home, staff contracts, external contracts, cash assets, income, etc.

I wouldn't have thought any of that would be particularly difficult to manage so unless the property the club owns is in another name that Lerner has no control of, unless the club's income has been going to Hong Kong triads and unless the players salaries are structured in some very unorthodox way, I can't see DD failing.

Randy has put us through a period of austerity and worn a lot of the debt himself in order to get us a lot healthier looking after the MoN era so I just can't see underhanded player payments being an issue. The land and property may be in different names but I'm sure ML would have pointed that out months ago and written that into the deal accordingly. And I can't see Tom Fox putting his career on the line by being associated with anything untoward.

It's down to the lack of genuine information, that the average fan looks for any rumour or gossip. The most we hear is just speculation, however IF and its a big IF that the takeover has collapsed, how do we move forward from here? Are there other bidders? Will RL back Sherwood?

He will be doing alot of the grunt but I doubt he is sufficiently up the chain to make decisions.

Pretty certain this is either a made up "fake" or an old tender/bid from last year. There's no date, no reference to DD, I'd say just an expression of interest and absolutely no proof that DD has fallen through. File it under more BS. I'm not saying the guy tweeting it doesn't believe it and I've spoken to him before and he doesn't appear the bullshitting type, but I don't think this relates to this years sale.

Only part of the screenshot for precisely the reasons you say. It would give a date, show what the outcome was and certainly more information than it does. I don't think you 'fail' DD you either buy it on the act of what you glean or you don't. Same as the club carrying out their checks on prospective buyers will ask there own questions like proof of funds, NDA's etc!!

Either that tweet was fake designed to garner attention (and maybe lose a job...), or Lerner was about to sell us down the river via a leveraged buyout but that has collapsed for whatever reason and saved us from it.
