Re: January '17 Transfer Window
I'd love him back. Yes he used us as a stepping stone and yes he had a face on him like Ayew half the time but he's the only one of Cleverley, Downing, Delph and Young I'd like to see in the top again.
The crowd reaction to him would give the entire team a lift in a massive way. What's the £ on that?
Sadly, it's not going to happen.

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
Off topic and maybe worthy of its own thread, but I got to thinking more about the Benteke story in line with @De Kuips comment about the attitude of some of the players.
Has Benteke - along with any number of players you'd care to name - suffered from some kind of money-driven syndrome whereby the care and motivation factors progressively spiral downward toward zero as the bank account spirals in the opposite direction?
Let's face it, 12 months of professional football is enough to set you up for life. A 3-4 year contract with various transfers, sign on fees and bonuses in between and you're properly minted. The incredible work and attitude that's required to "make it" is no longer needed so we see player's like Benteke (I've maybe picked on him unfairly) who we expected to be one of the world's best, floundering in shit sides.
It's not the management, coaching or teammates...he was a star here under pretty average circumstances. So is money killing the drive and ambition?
If so, how does a manager get it back? MoN - the pube-headed dwarf bastard - thought he was a master of this and I'd like to think that Bruce would be too given that he's been around the block a few times. But it always comes down to the player...and they seem increasingly to be absolute sugarbags.

Mirror are saying we want Tom Cairney. I don't know heaps about him, but I'm guessing he'd probably be an alternative to Hourihane.
Edit: It's all over twitter that Hourihane is going to Wednesday.

Hourihane and Forestieri. Now that's two players we should be buying.

That doesn't make any sense to me as Wednesday aren't going anywhere and I wouldn't believe they have that sort of money!

I believe it more if it was Rhodes - isn't his dad the goalkeeping coach at SW? At least there's a link there, not sure what the pull would be for CH?
I should have kidnapped him when he was down here at Argyle and posted him to VP.

I see the BM are constantly doing the old "yes he is" oh wait..."No he isn't" Click bait reporting regards Lansbury and others.
You can so tell they a sister of the Mirror , don't believe a word of what they write anymore.

Yes, I read this but again it makes no sense as Lansbury just leaves for nothing at the end of the season!
If a player doesn't want to play for you, you might as well sell him and make some money, especially if his contract is ending shortly and he can leave on a free.

But hang on a minute Rowett is supposed to be a Villa fan, if I was in the same situation I would let him go to us cos we need him, he can sort others out for Forest.

MONEY TALKS, thats the top & bottom of things in football, if we need em then Villa have to spend BIG to push everyone out of the way.

Somewhat OT but what a shame the old Evening Mail has declined to what it is now. I remember when it was a decent quality broadsheet that had about four editions printed a day. Now it's thin tabloid printing yesterday's news and bullshit. I'm amazed anyone actually wastes their money on it.

Must say I think we are not doing enough. Unacceptable that we are facing Wolves without a new CM.
Then again I guess the most important thing is to get hold of the right players.

Oh I think a bit of OT is more than OK mate considering its FUCKING BORING at the moment.
What I hate about a lot of the modern rags is when something happens such as a person dying, and they basically use Facebook comments to pad out the report or if there's an incident somewhere they screen grab off Google maps where it writes the name of the road on screen or when there's an accident and they show a library picture of an ambulance. Pointless lazy Internet trawling.
Remember the days when there'd be yet another Villa win and your dad sent you down the newsagent to queue with everyone waiting for the Sports Argus. Then on the front it would have Form rate "outstanding" against Villa''s result, made all the better when Blues had been stuffed and their form rate was "Dismal".
How the fuck they got that paper out in the time they did pre computer and internet/digital camera age I'll never know. I bet the editor hated cup days as the report would come out before the match had ended lol.

I'd settle for them even putting part of it into the net
