He can smile! I didn't see him smiling anywhere in the YouTube footage. We need players happy to be playing at and for the Villa.

This is the most exciting signing for years in my opinion, great work from all those involved in bringing him to the club

I reckon this lad will light up the premier league. And we'll all be moaning in a few years when he's off.

There I was, checking I had the latest Flash Player because no commentary from the official site despite it being past kickoff time. And it turns out they're doing the commentary down a crackly phone. At least the quality of the sound now matches the quality of the commentary.

Re: Adama Traore
Judging by the comments on Villa Talk, it sounds like Adama is dominating the game. Apparently, the trio of Gil, Grealish, and Gil are ripping the opposition to shreds. All three combined for a Grealish goal.

Gil, Grealish and Gil would be scary...
Traore sounded good last night. Within 2 mins the commentary said he'd gone past 3 Derby players and crossed the ball to Gil who put his chance wide. Think the lad is going to be a player who gets arses off seats and, unlike Gabby, doesn't slow our attacks down.
I'm amazed that a player who relies on pace can do so much to slow attacks by turning around to pass backwards after running forwards 8 yards!!

In order to release Adama and give him space to run into we need to move the ball around quicker in the middle of the park than we did against the mancs. That said, Adama seems like he can create space for himself when marked tightly, however we must remember that the EPL is very different to the league that Barcelona B play in.
No doubt an exciting talent and hope to see 2 of Grealish, Gill and Adama start on Saturday, if not all 3!

Re: Adama Traore
The other thing is that Traore's pace and direct running will draw players out of position towards him to try and double up on him - a disaster if he's our only outlet but with a Grealish, Gil, Sinclair or even Gueye or Vertout moving around in the final 1/3 of the pitch they should, in theory, have acres of space in which to move or make runs. Gestede will also probably be marked 1-on-1 which gives him 100% advantage in the air

Re: Adama Traore
from the sounds of the commentary Traore, along with Jack and Gil tore it up. Yes they're lesser opposition but it's good to know they have developed a sense of understanding between them already which only bodes well for the future. I'd like to see 2 of the 3 start the weekend or at least get a decent run on the pitch and see them link up with Gestede as the main striker.
Guzan
Bacuna - Richards - Clark - Amavi
Veretout - Gana
Traore - Gil - Grealish/Ayew
Gestede
With the 3 behind Gestede swapping around during the game. Perhaps maybe Sanchez in for Veretout to add some muscle in the centre?

Re: Adama Traore
AN up to speed Vertout could be better further up the pitch if the reports about him where true when we signed him.
Maybe him where you've put Gil, and Gil or Grealish the other side to Traore. Ayew to come on if we want 2 up top

I think we need Westwood or Sanchez (but never the two together), at least until either Veretout or Gardner makes a case for themselves. Westwood distributes well but isn't so good at defending (he picks up his fair share of yellows), Sanchez doesn't pass so well but he makes sure the opposition knows he's there. I think he's worked well coming on as a sub, in the same way I'd like to see Gabby come on later in matches so he can go full bore for 20 or 30 minutes at tired legs, Sanchez looks good coming on and negating any new attacking legs the opposition deploy as subs.

Re: Adama Traore
How nice that the team won't be (shouldn't be) clear cut every week. A return the the "if selected" days of Ron Saunders as opposed to going again with the sane shit week in, week out.
Really looking forward to seeing this lad.

Re: Adama Traore
I agree, this lad is very exciting and Gil and Grealish are really creative players, so the days of a guaranteed place for limited midfielders should be a thing of the past.Trotters wrote:How nice that the team won't be (shouldn't be) clear cut every week.
