Re: Adama Traore
The buy-back clause is a positive to me - if Traore performs in such a way that Barca want him back, then we will have benefited from a special kind of football along the way! They're not going to take him back if he turns out shit. Sure, we have to replace him then but imagine him helping to transform us into a club that is attractive to higher caliber players.

Re: Adama Traore
So what's with the quote on the right of the page "Sherwood (coach Aston Villa): "The negative is Adama got injured. Doesn't look good to be honest. He took a heavy knock. It was his ankle.""
So either he's going to be absolutely fine for the next match and is already in training or he has an injury and it doesn't look good...

Knowing Sherwood and his ability to hide the truth, he's probably talking about the other bloke!

In short, he's had a few days off and could be featured this weekend. I'm guessing as a sub for the last 20mins.

Coming from Sherwood that probably means Adama is back to full fitness and will start Saturday!

Scored 2 goals today in a friendly against Fleetwood. Not much opposition i know but he bossed the game from start to finish. Gotta start on Saturday.

We have? Maybe you guys haven't. I saw him both in the league and the league cup (I think it was anyway), and ignoring the fact that he comes across like a roided up injury prone sprinter, all he did was run the run into 3-4 players, lose the ball, run into 3-4 players, lose the ball. He had one fluke goal, but I'm not buying it. I even remember the last time he was subbed on and did the same bullshit half the team was screaming for a pass and he was going into tank mode trying to run through 3-4 defenders. It all ended with him losing the ball obviously. I'd rather we kept Albrighton.

Well said Narla.
Back to the thread I have to agree with those who are less than impressed. OK I've only seen his contribution against Swansea where he seemed to have no idea of positioning (stood alongside others & got in their way) or awareness of other team mates. However was this his fault - to a degree it must be - but also the coach, was he told where to play?
Looks to me at the moment that he may be an impact player, along the lines of an unguided missile.

Re: Adama Traore
From when I've seen I'll say this - he scares defenders with his running. BUT he's useless with his back to goal.
I think he'd have more effect playing alongside Ayew or Gestede in a kind of wider-central role up front

Re: Adama Traore
Like i said earlier Dan, although Fleetwood are not major opposition he did have a fantastic game yesterday. Maybe Garde has put some work in with him and sorted this Bull at a gate mentality he has had so far. Stick him up front for me, big strong lad.Villa_Dan wrote:From when I've seen I'll say this - he scares defenders with his running. BUT he's useless with his back to goal.

Re: Adama Traore
N'Zog spent a large part of his Villa career running into as many opposition players as possible until he lost the ball. Ayew's done it a few times too. Sometimes it works but we do tend to complain when players don't run at the opposition! It would help if they (Traore and Ayew) very obviously had teammates keeping pace, so if they do keep doing it they really have no excuse for not passing the ball before losing it.
Something we've missed is players with an understanding of what their teammates are going to do. Benteke and Weimann is the last pairing I can think of. A lot of this is down to Sherwood's team selection lottery.
I wonder if there'll be more attacking down the right now Amavi is injured? Having said that Richardson tended to be ineffectual or absent even when he was hanging back in the Everton match and Garde might take the view that as long as he assists in more goals than he's responsible for conceding it might be worth having a three-man defence!

Needs to learn/adjust to the prem but, I recall ronaldo doing the same at utd in his early years taking too many players on the team moaning.
What a player he has become now.

Is this just a theme with all our players of past. Start seeing them play and becoming part of the team...BAM! Injured. I swear that this has been the case for a large part of our last 3 seasons.

Re: Adama Traore
The way Trore plays, by inviting tackles, he is always going to get himself injured.
Although I accept he is an exciting player I would get rid of him in the summer due to his high wages and the fact that I couldn't see him playing much in the championship due to him being injured (i.e. he will be kicked in the championship)!

Have to say I agree with you. He's just not all that....but, the potential is there for him to be outstanding. Crystal Palace have a few of his type...do they get the injuries or are they a little wiser? Just wondering if getting the injuries may actually force him to change his style slightly, which may benefit the team aswell. He should be mixing his game up a bit, instead of doing the same thing every time he gets the ball.
