Re: Adama Traore
Howard Hodgson has re-tweeted a couple tweets from an account called @barcastuff.
The first says Adama had his medical this morning and the deal will be announced "soon".
The second tweet says Barca sources are denying that it's a straight sale, insisting that there is a buyback option.
Does anyone know exactly how these clauses work? Does it mean that if they want to buy him back in say 3 years we can't refuse them? And how is the price set? Will there be a sliding scale that reflects how successful the player has been?

Meanwhile, in the weird and wonderful world of @whispers_listen, we are in negotiations with Man Ure about Januzaj and have enquired about Lingaard.

Didnt Fabregas have a similar clause in his deal to Arsenal?

Re: Adama Traore
Who cares about the buyback clause? People were complaining about one supposedly in Gil's deal too, but I don't see Valencia coming back for him at all now. If Adama has a buyback clause in our deal, it will mean he's had a phenomenal 1-3 seasons for us, which is all he'd have for us if he didn't have the buyback clause anyway.

Re: Adama Traore
The guy at Stoke has one, I think it is something that Barca insist on with any talent brought through the amazing Barca system, La Masia.
It makes sense, we should have done the same with our youth, you don't have to exercise the clause but if it turns out you have erred, ie Cahill, you get first dibs.

Yes, they're all untested in this league & great potential doesn't guarantee it gets fulfilled...
... but bloody hell we've got some exciting & dynamic players on the books!

I thought buy back clauses meant if we sold him they got first refusal?

He's 19, I think that means that whatever happens he's going to be here at Villa for the next couple of years (if he signs). So let's enjoy the magic while we can!Villa_Dan wrote:I thought buy back clauses meant if we sold him they got first refusal?

A couple of reports say that Adama has had his medical earlier today and will sign tomorrow. I hope so.

Hopefully this will be a bums off seats signings. By which I mean ala Ashley Youngs early days when he got the ball the whole of VP stood up in anticipation of a chance being created and a goal being scored.
Happy Days!

Having watched it I reckon, in BFR terms, we are going to see a lot of Traore lollipops for Gestede eyebrows!

villabromsgrove wrote:How exciting is it being a Villa fan at the moment?
Very. And the impression I get is we are still, despite an 'effin Revolution taking place here, largely flying under the media radar. I could be wrong as I don't watch Sky or listen to Talkshite or read the sports pages of 99% of papers etc, but that's how it seems. They'd rather write about Chelsea's doctor than our Revolution.
Now, I don't really care about that because it is par for the course re: Villa and the media. The patronising fucks are always the same and we will be the underdogs for some time yet. Let's hope we can shake them out of their London/Merseymanc centric complacency by carving some of their favourites up this term. Starting Friday.
