Re: Jordan Amavi
He had one good season, DOL's first. I'd still take him over our last 4 LB's. (Not *now*, he's much older and stuff, you know what I mean!)Villa_Dan wrote:I hadn't heard of Amavi because I don't particularly care to follow Ligue 1, I like him because everything I've seen or heard points to a top quality player. But he has to translate his form in France to the EPL to fulfill that.
And thanks for reminding me of Jlloyd. God he was bad. Him and Useless De la Cruz

LINKY THINGY
Gabriel Agbonlahor: Jordan Amavi is a “complete” left-back.
By Harrison Mead
Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has been talking up his club’s new signing Jordan Amavi, stating that he “is the name on everybody’s lips”, per the Villans’ official website.
The 21-year-old joined the Midlands club earlier this summer in a £7 million deal from Ligue 1 side Nice (fee via BBC Sport).
Jordan Amavi has won 78% of his attempted tackles so far this season.
The defender is a Under-21 France international and had already made over 50 appearances for his former club since joining in 2010.
Ray Wilkins: Aston Villa deserve same status as Man Utd
Amavi joins a number of other players as the new faces around Villa Park this season including midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Veretout, defender Micah Richards and forwards Rudy Gestede and Jordan Ayew.
He made his competitive debut for the Birmingham-based club in their 1-0 victory over Premier League new boys Bournemouth, thanks to a late goal from fellow new signing Gestede.
Agbonlahor stated: “Jordan Amavi’s name is on everyone’s lips at the moment.
“He has been superb in training – and I think he did very well in the games against Bournemouth and Man Utd. For me he is one of the best players in the team already.
“He loves attacking and getting down that flank – with good pace. He is strong, brave, both footed – and he can defend very well as well. For me, he is a complete left-back. And he will only get better.
“Like the other lads, he’s only been here for a few weeks – and it takes time to get fully up to speed with the Premier League.
“He’s made a very impressive start – one that’s really stood out to me – and I think he will only improve given time in this division.”
The Frenchman impressed for Nice last term. He registered the fourth-highest number of chances created in the squad with 32 and the most of any defender, with the second-placed Grégoire Puel only having laid on nine.
In addition, he scored four goals and was successful in 49% of his tackles. However, he had the joint worst discipline record of any of his team-mates picking up 11 yellow cards last season.

Re: Jordan Amavi
Yep he's top class for sure, well done scouts!
Its shows where Bacuna needs work at RB, hopefully they can coach it into him as it will tell over 38 games. I still think a specialist RB needed and keep Bacuna as midfield cover.

Re: Jordan Amavi
He's got injured to his knee with U21 french team. It seems serious, french medias talk about patella.
Who could play left back if Amavi was out for 6 months ? Clark ?
I'm fed up with Richardson, he's not good enough for premier league...

Might want to look away if you're squeamish! That depression in his knee doesn't belong there!
Fuck! Absolutely gutted - both for that lad himself and for our chances as I really rate him.

A player on my local team fractured his knee into two halve this season. It's taken him 9 months to play football. amavi is done for this season minimum.

Re: Jordan Amavi
If he's lucky he's "only" dislocated the kneecap and looking at months. Any ligaments involved and his season is over.
I saw the pic of him being carried off by the physios so looks like they put it back into position fairly quickly and the pain went. Still looking at a couple of days for swelling to go and then the scan will let us know the damage but I don't expect to see him again this season

I knew a lad who dislocated his knee, didn't realise at the time and tried to walk it off!!!
I agree. That'd be a result all things considered as once it's back in it isn't too bad an injury in comparison. I believe he was helped onto a stretcher and then helped off once off the pitch. Although I haven't seen it myself on a video.
How positively perverse to be praying it's just a dislocation!!!

Re: Jordan Amavi
It was definitely back in by the time he was carried down the pitch by the physio's as you could see it was in the middle of his leg again!
Fingers crossed its the best possible result for him because he's a key player and Nobody wants anybody to be injured like that.

Might as well move Sinclair back to LB - his defending is probably on a par with Amavi's

Perhaps not the best time to discuss his abilities - and I wish him a speedy recovery. But it almost seemed he was being targeted in the latter stages of the Man City game, he was getting ripped to shreds.....

Re: Jordan Amavi
The pictures I've seen of him "walking" to the tunnel appear to show him bending and using it, although supported by 2 guys to stop him bearing weight on it. Fingers crossed that is a positive sign and it's a relatively simple dislocation with no ligament damage.
Would just be our fucking luck if he's done a Bouma!

It could you be a kneecap tracking issue - which is very minor injury.....
