Dr. Tony Xia @Dr_TonyXia
Scheduled to announce the new manager tomorrow! Time for all to stand together and back the team! Believe we've made the best try! #UTV

Best appointment since Lambert.
Yes I know it went sour for lambo in the end - but on appointment it looked right. As does Bruce under the circumstances.
Same judgement as for any villa manager. Win games and I will like you. Don't and I won't.. !

Three million a year according to the telegraph. Must be our highest paid manager ever. Hopefully proves to be worth it.

I agree with smetro. Win games for us and I might start to like him. Don't and I'll hate him even more. We have back him now. We all want what's best for club so good luck. Dont let us down

Yep no excuses - 4 games settling in - after that close on a 50% win ratio - any finish below 10th not acceptable.

Well all the discussion about who we THINK is going to do well ends here. Any manager needs fans support, no matter what their track record, so let's allow ourselves to hope for the best.

Agreed - not blind faith though. That squad of players should be doing significantly better. From top to bottom - no excuses - wealthy ambitious owner, very experienced manager, and for the division players that are cream of the crop.....

Bruce has said that he's in the frame and waiting for a phone call tomorrow. I assume he just can't confirm he's got the job as that's for the club to announce.

Keith Bertschin, Stephen Clemence and Gary Walsh expected to join, according to the same article.

Good luck Steve! Maybe we need another ex Sha manager to lift the curse that the first one (McCleish) brought with him which has been lingering ever since. I hope he does great here and i do actually like the guy tbh.

Can you imagine the howls of anguish.from the sty when we beat them with Bruce at the helm haha.
Wouldn't have been my first choice but if he becomes a second big fat Ron I'll be well happy.
Onwards and upwards fellow Villans, we go again.....

Re: The next Villa Manager
Well it looks like it's all done now lads. Just pray this time the new guy will do "what it says on the tin". Because lord knows the last four jokers just haven't lived up to expectations. There's no excuse now, Bruce knows the league inside out, will have money to spend and already has a very decent squad to play with. I just want to see a manager finally deliver some bloody wins now and give us a little joy for a change.
His backroom staff will be interesting to see. I know the lads from Hull have been linked but I believe one or two different names might also be in the frame.
I think he'll play mostly 433 or 4231 and he'll get Richards and possibly gabby back into the fold. Also think he'll try and get the best out of Grealish for sure.
I wonder if he'll change the captain? I would tbh.

Re: The next Villa Manager
@DaveAV1 Your Tony/Doug post was brilliant. I'm sure I'm not the only one who read Uncle Doug's lines in his voice!
So tomorrow is the day that the shitrag Birmingham Mail states why Bruce is the best man for the job even though they've said Sherwood was the best man for the job.
It has to be Bruce huh? There are just no other whispers.
Oh well...let's get behind him and hopefully he can rattle a few cages and close "Holiday Resort Villa" once and for all.

Re: The next Villa Manager
Didn't want to hear this news. Really, really was hoping for him to be the tethered goat for the press whilst we got on with the business of recruiting someone inspiring.
He may get the team playing better, he may start grinding out some results, shit, he may even get us up around the playoff positions. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll get us into the playoffs but if by some miracle we do get there and by an even greater miracle get promoted he is not the manager for the PL.
He also absolutely isn't the manager who will deliver Xia's Euro ambitions, so at best is a one or two year appointment. At worst? McGrath let's not even go there but best or worst we won't be watching spellbinding football. I hope I'm wrong but I fear this isn't going to end well either.

Re: The next Villa Manager
We were never going to appoint a manager who'd be generally viewed as being good enough to take us into Europe. There will be different stages to Xia's plans for the club and at each one we'll have different managers and players.
Bruce should be good enough in theory to get us back into the Premier league and possibly consolidate us there.
