Will we win this time?

A game of two halves .... Lambert's first half, and Sherwood's second half. What a difference!

Still too much of the Lambert style of play in that performance, we need a week or so on the training ground to see a difference, but I'll take the result, funny how the first time someone runs at the defence we score, lets have more of it.

We deserved the win on the second half showing , even in the first half i thought we played with a higher tempo & tenacity, there was a lot more positivity from The Holte today !
You know what drama footy throws up !
Expect Blackburn away in the quarters !

Probably Reading at home. But to give it a story, my ideal run would be:
Bradford next - that is a demon that needs to be exorcised.
WBA in the semis - beating Albion at Wembley would be lovely.
Liverpool in the final - as much as I love Stevie G, I just know I'd hate the media wankfest that would come with it, so spoiling their story and the hearts of Liverpool fans worldwide sounds like a perfect end to the first chapter of our new era.
But yeah, the sensible dude in me says Reading at home

I hate Gerrard. I'd love to see his birthday (someone told me the final is on his birthday) and last final with the scousers ruined

A home tie against Reading will suit me just fine. Hopefully the draw throws up a Liverpool v Arsenal tie, West Brom v Man Utd. Is that being greedy?

It's been a good day, a win, two goals scored, and in the draw for the quarter final .... UP THE VILLA.

Lambert averaged half a goal a game
Sherwood is averaging 2 goals a half. What a manager!

Re: Aston Villa v Leicester FA Cup 5th round Feb 14th/15th.
Great result today.
Did anyone see what i saw?
About 35 mins into the game the BBC camera has Tom Fox and Sherwood sat next to each other in the Directors box.
Fox clearly says, via lip sinc "This is bloody awfull." Sherwood nods his head.
Fox then, via lip sinc says " Lambert's team."
Sherwood then makes his way to the dressing room to bollock the players at half time. Job fucking done.
The passion that Sherwood showed from that Directors box today was more than we have seen in the last 4 yrs.
First goal goes in, see the passion.
Second goal goes in, more passion.
Signing photo's for the kids after the game, more passion.
Do you know what, without getting carried away to much, i think we have a bloody good chance of staying up, also a bloody good chance of getting to the final of the FA Cup. Summer time will change our team.
We lads and lasses are back on the right track.
Stoke will have it shoved right up their harris.
Long 14 hr day.
UTV......TBAR.
Dan.

Honestly, just based off of Sherwood's halftime talk alone, we looked like a completely different team. Granted, the players showed how rusty they are at moving forward and actually attacking, but they showed more passion in the 2nd half than any other game in a long time. You couple that motivation with some attacking movement training over the next few weeks and I have a feeling we'll be banging goals in for fun again. Teams won't know how to line up against us near the end of the season.

Yeah, I mean Benteke is clearly suffering a crisis of confidence in front of goal (although it was a lovely finish for the offside goal!) but it was better, and he was smiling for the first time in a while!
Let's not get too excited about this too, but it's worth mentioning: Tom Cleverley's second half performance was easily his best work in a Villa shirt. I'm still far from convinced on him but that was much more useful. There may just be hope for the lad yet.
Of course I'm also looking forward to seeing a Tim Sherwood-inspired team with Carles Gil in it, and that goal may have done Scott Sinclair the world of good too.
I saw a couple of journo types tweet yesterday that Sherwood is like a kid he's so excited about this job. Enthusiasm alone can only take us so far and I'm interested to see how things work for him long-term, but in the short-term, if that second half display was anything to go by, then hopefully by the time we're preparing for the FA Cup final, we'll be plenty safe in the league
(of course this could still all go horribly wrong but let's not think like that...!)
