Will we win this time?
Aston Villa v Leicester FA Cup 5th round Feb 14th/15th.
This is a chance to put right our loss at the King Power Stadium. We're a better team than Leicester and they won't fancy playing us at Villa Park. This is a very winnable fixture in my opinion.

If we can get some confidence back between then and now- Benteke back firing and us just generally playing well then we have a very good chance.

First season in years one of my mates hasn't had a season ticket. He's barely missed a game, but like lots of fans just had the hump with the club. Now he's thinking, bloody typical Villa will probably get to the final and he'll have to pay through the nose for a ticket!
Obviously he's not taking any stick at all...... :)

Sky bet have us as 20/1 to win the cup and Leicester at 33/1, so they favour a Villa win in this fixture. I know it would be different if we were away, but at VP they fancy us.

I've been consistently wrong so I'm going to say a dour, uninspiring loss.
I'll take a dour, uninspiring win but I'd rather see Grealish's first hat-trick and Benteke cracking a smile or two.

You'd certainly have taken this given a choice before the draw and if we find some form and goals we should be fine.
We're averaging 2 goals a game since Sunday so it's looking positive!

Leicester fan's on the Fox forum are generally pretty confident, and why wouldn't they be after beating us at the King Power stadium.
I don't think that Leicester are usually too confident playing away, but the chances are that they will get about 6000 tickets which will give them a lift.
I think it will be a cracking game, and not the dour spectacle that Villa v Leicester may have produced in the past, and I see us being able to make home advantage tell. The bookies favour Villa on the basis that we're at home, and I'm going for a Villa win!
Ps: they've got a couple of useful wide men in Mahrez and Albrighton, so I hope we mark Ulloa and Kramaric well.

Re: Aston Villa v Leicester FA Cup 5th round Feb 14th/15th.
I've heard about this Albrighton bloke, sounds like just the kind of player I was pissed off with Lambert for letting go! Having said that I'm still going with Sanchez and Westwood in the middle, Delph in front of them and Grealish and Gil out wide, all feeding Benteke, or if he can't be arsed, Weimann.
Cissokho had Albrighton in his pocket at Villa Park earlier in the season but he was a right handful a few weeks ago. Richardson definitely should not be starting against Leicester, he'd get slaughtered.

The same Marc Albrighton who has only made 7 appearances for a club which currently sits bottom of the league and has zero goals and zero assists? I know he was a Villa lad and came up through our ranks but he's not the answer at all

Yeah, I liked Albrighton and I wholeheartedly believe that Martin O'Neill stifled his (and others) development at a crucial time but that's in the past, and the Marc Albrighton of 2015 is a likeable, wholehearted player who I'd have had no problem with keeping as a squad player but he's not someone I think is the answer to Villa's issues.

Injuries have been the bane of Albrighton's footballing life, I was a big fan of his at Villa from the academy to the first team, and was extremely disappointed that it didn't work out for him here.Villa_Dan wrote:The same Marc Albrighton who has only made 7 appearances for a club which currently sits bottom of the league and has zero goals and zero assists? He's got real competition at Leicester because Mahrez has looked a very good player when I've seen him playing down the right, in fact if Leicester get relegated I'd like to see Villa sign him.

I might be wrong here but I think Albrighton has only missed 1 match through injury this season, he made his debut for them against Chelsea. There's better players out there, he wasn't even that effective for Villa - he worked his bollocks off and ran a lot but didn't produce a great deal.

Ignore me Dan .... I was a VT poster for years and my signature was" MA's number one fan!" So I'm hopelessly biased from the days when I used to watch him play regularly for the reserves at Walsall.Villa_Dan wrote:I might be wrong here but I think Albrighton has only missed 1 match through injury this season, he made his debut for them against Chelsea. Id like to think the home draw favours us, a cup run would save our season, i could die a happy man if i saw Villa win the FA Cup !
Talking of Wembley, good luck to Walsall in their second leg against Preston, i think most Midlands footy fans have a soft spot for the Saddlers !

That's disappointing. Leicester will be bringing 6000 fans to shout them on, so we need a good attendance. I'll have to put on the old scarf and trundle up to VP, to try and make a difference.avfcjoe wrote:Game will Be on the Sunday - 15th February - 12:30 kick off, and will be shown live on BBC One

At least the Leicester fans will have less time to get drunk (unless they're dedicated to it of course) so might be a bit quieter

Re: Aston Villa v Leicester FA Cup 5th round Feb 14th/15th.
When Albrighton first broke into the first team, I thought he was the best crosser of the ball at the club. Then he got injured, it was a cup match I believe and he got injured, I think crossing the ball for our first goal. After that he was never the same. His crossing became much more random accuracy wise and he just didn't seem to hit the byline and get so many crosses in. It's a shame but for whatever reason he just didn't find that extra few % to quite make it.

Possibly will narrowly win this. Could get to Wembley at least but still go down. Our swan song in the big time.

Leicester will have almost as many fans at this game as Villa, can't see us getting a win.
