How will we do against Leicester?
Leicester v Aston Villa Saturday 10th January 2015
Tough game this one. With our lack of goals and the hostile atmosphere that will be at Leicester i really think we will struggle.
Goals would be nice but where will they come from ?
I am going for a draw at best, a score draw 1-1. UTV.

Plenty of meaningless possession for Villa, but I've got no idea what we'll do near that rectangular thing with a net. I haven't got a clue, neither has Lambert, so in the words of Ellie Goulding "anything could appen!"

Gone for a score draw but I actually expect one team to knick it by a goal. I'm going to expect a shite, boring, 1-0 defeat

Hmm, very negative comments so far...to be expected I guess.
Let's not get too downbeat, for me Leicester were a very poor side at Villa Park. However, their results have picked up a little of late which means they will be more confident than perhaps they were at our place....BUT...they are rooted to the foot of the table for good reason.
Also, what may play into our hands is they will have to try and win the game if they have any hope of staying up. They will see us as a game they must try and win. If we can stifle them with our new possession play ( :o ) I'm certain the gaps, and the chances will come.
All depends on us taking those chances, can see us winning 0-2.

Nothing would surprise me here other than a convincing win either way.
I can easily see a game where we fail to break them down and suffer a narrow loss. If we can take a chance I could also see it going the other way.
I can just as easily see a really boring draw.
By the same token, I can see a decent enough game where Leicester come at us and we look like scoring on the break, which could just as easily be a draw or narrow win either way.
Basically, it's tough to call, and I certainly think the only surprise would be a dominant performance one way or the other.

1-0 of a lucky 1-1 and Paul "PolyFilla" Lambert, clinging on to his job.

Keep ball. I think we'll win the important statistic 68-32. As for goals that's clearly not important to our management.

No matter what happens at Leicester, we will be without Big Ron Vlaar. It appears he is out for the next 4 - 6 weeks with his knee injury. FFS he need a saint Johns ambulance man to shadow his everywhere he goes.
At least with the amount of time he has had out this year we won't really miss him.

His agent is probably more upset than I am, this injury will ruin his chances of getting a move this window leaving the leach in a suit with no commission

Can't be optimistic about this match I'm afraid. Leicester, despite their poor form have shown the capability of scoring a few goals, we on the other hand...........
2-0 to them.
Lambert thinks the lads were incredible and his job security is unaffected.

If there's any sign of decent football I think I'll come up to the Bournemouth match. If not (by which I mean more than 50% of our possession involves the midfield passing the ball sideways) I'll listen to it on the radio while doing something constructive like some painting (and possibly watching it dry).

I'm thinking of getting six tickets for the Liverpool match, for one of my son's birthdays next Saturday. We were all season ticket holders who decided that we couldn't hack the miserable match day experience any more. I hope we play well today because it will help me make up my mind about going to VP next week. C'mon the Villa!FoxyAV wrote:If there's any sign of decent football I think I'll come up to the Bournemouth match. Since it's a whole day to drive up and get to Villa Park I used to come up once every four or six weeks and then get in some away matches in London. I've only been up once this season - and only because I was passing by on the way back from the Peak District - and that was the slump to Orient in the cup in August. Nothing I've seen since has made me want to spend a day coming up to watch either 30% possession or twice as much possession made up of midfield sideways passes. There have been some encouraging changes recently - especially on the Clark/Okore front, the defence in general and Sanchez taking over in midfield - but without the long ball Benteke is starved of supply. Until the very visible gap between Defence/midfield and the front three is sorted it's just not entertainment. We have a solid defence now, why not set up the team to attack and let the defence do their best.

The only thing keeping me coming back is the social aspect - me and the missus meet my best mate hours before kick off and get in some drinking, then I've family who I meet at the ground and know a lot who I sit by since we've all had the se seats for near enough 10 years.
I couldn't watch a game sober and don't really go for entertainment value at the moment.
