Re: Christian Benteke
Maybe Lambert has been so busy trying to figure out how to use his mobile phone that he hasn't noticed. My Old Man wrote:Tomy-Flemba wrote:mickeywya wrote:Makes perfect sense. In that case we need to sign a striker this week cause Bent aint doing it for me
He's only played for us for 15 minutes in the past 20 months. Give him a chance.
I still think we will sign another striker before the close of the transfer window. Why would we have not allocated the number 9 shirt otherwise?
Maybe Lambert has retired it because the symbolic nature of it adds pressure to whomever wears it?

This bit made me think cart horse
However, it is something of an understatement to say that Acquafresca’s goal-scoring record at Bologna leaves a lot to be desired and it believed that the player “most definitely does not fit in with the plans of the technical-economic Bologna”. The team’s manager, Luis Diego López, is reportedly keen to offload Acquafresca in order to strengthen his own attack so it is doubtful that Acquafresca could offer the Villans more goals than the players already available to Paul Lambert.

Pretty much no point to this player and he would just be taking up another spot.

Looking good in training and tonights news from Lambert that he is near to a first team return is good news. This weekend maybe a step to far, but the next game............................Unleash the Beast

Re: Christian Benteke
I quite honestly cannot wait for him to return! I think he'll get a lot more service this season with the additions in our midfield!

Re: Christian Benteke
Put him on the bench against City possibly on oct 4th but more likely to figure at everton on oct 18th.
No game time in months and Lambert adamant he will not be rushing him back but building hom up accordingly .
Wouldn't want him to go away with belgium in the international break and aggravate things - gently gently approach is best .

His left calf muscle still looks wasted. We have to be careful with him.

Don't worry - he's not played any football in months - Lambert has said he will not rush him - will take a while to get matchfit .

Re: Christian Benteke
Nice to see Lambert not panicking, last thing we need is for Benteke to come back for 5mins then he's out for another season.

Exactly, I'd expect the everton game to see his return , gives him time to build up match fitness and maybe get a couple of practice games in , also would mean we could keep him here for the international break .

That would be nice, I know it sounds selfish but I'd rather Benteke not go to any international call up for a while and we need to keep Clark the hell away from him in training lol

Maybe Keane could "loose track" of Clark before the plane back to Brum and he ends up in Scotsdale

Re: Christian Benteke
It always takes a long time for big players like Benteke to return from such an injury. The days of the Magic Sponge are long gone but serious injuries, such as those involving the Achilles tendon continue to plague those involved with getting players fit again, even with todays technology.

Re: Christian Benteke
Agree with everything stated above.
We should not rush Benteke back and even when he's ready give him twenty minutes here and there over three or four games just to try and build his confidence and stamina up again.
What about Kozak? Is he near readiness yet?

Nice to be in a position where he's not desperately needed in order to save our season.

Re: Christian Benteke
Great! Just having him on have pitch should mean other teams will either sit back an extra ten yards or double team him meaning that much extra space for our other players.

Re: Christian Benteke
Definitely! Even if he doesn't score, his presence will create space and oppourtunities for the likes of Delph/Cleverley coming from midfield!
Also, 2-0 in the U21 game! Joe Cole
