Not much more
Lerner is also believed to have reassessed this summer's transfer budget and may provide further money to strengthen the squad, though it is unlikely to be more than £15 million on fees and wages.

Article says nothing of the kind... ever thought of journalism?
Well it says he will be more 'hands on' with Faulkner gone, and it also says no takeover remotely close too...
Club statement puts robin Russell in role temporarily.
Telegraph article is nothing new in my opinion....predictable

Why would we be signing Dross and Bentner if we had money on MON level ?

yes they're making a big deal of Lerner /Faulkner friendship but Lerner has known Russell for 20 years !

So was Faulkner pushed or did he jump? I'm still not clear on that. Hope he was pushed..

Hmmm yes and remember how that turned out, history has habit of repeating itself.

Maybe not ! they both shop in the bargain basement but Lamberts have potential & the resale value if they don't make it means minimal losses unlike the huge losses MON's saddled the club with

Like I said people were reading too much into Lerner being here. No takeover is close and I can't see one happening before 2014 ends.

Just can't see Faulkner jumping, not a good way to end his beloved football job, plus his relationship with Randy. Randy must have pushed him.

I remember when journalism was about reporting the facts. This is a bunch of rehash and guesswork through browsing …. embarrassing for the telegraph (now with a small t).

depends on which version you read , and in any case it was peanuts to what we lost on the likes of Beye

Re: Takeover speculation - hopefully :)
Maybe a deal IS close - not signed off on, but close - and Lerner had shoe - horned Faulkner into a new role somewhere. Faulkner tells Lerner that he also wants to keep his FA role going which will require him to have some form of role at Villa. Lerner refuses with Faulkner telling him he owes him after looking after the Villa in his absence and a huge row ensues.
If Randy made promises to PF in that NY restaurant that he can't (or no longer wishes) to keep then PF would be rightly pissed off
The question now is, were the discussions about PF's next role something that would be effective almost immediately (takeover looming) or were those discussions looking at a position 3, 4, 5 months down the track when the club may be sold?
If it was that longer term option then why would PF throw his toys when he has a few months of work with both the Villa and the FA and maybe change Lerner's mind?
It says to me that we are weeks away from announcing a deal.
