Re: The next Villa Manager
They missed Dwight Yorke off the list as I am sure he will be putting himself forward again???

Whoever gets the nod had better sort out a formation (4-4-2 my preferrence) and find enough midfielders (ex Westwood) to cover it. Plus be prepared to either bin or rotate some of the extraordinary number of forwards RDM landed us with. Suggest a recall for Lyden and play Amavi left midfield (his position all day long).

Would take MON or Sherwood back because to be honest I don't see anything better out there!

Re: The next Villa Manager
I think now is the time for an experienced manager who's used to getting teams out of this position. As much as I'd like a Gary Rowett who's a fan and seems to get results, our club is too big to be appointing more managers who still in the early stages of learning their trade. We need a Big Sam to stabilise us and push us forward.
Saying that, I have no idea who I would go for just yet.

Apparently RDM got the push saturday eve. Which suggests to me a plan is in place.
I hope its Bruce.

This.
Experienced keeper 4-4-2 - get it wide - put crosses in to Gestede - not rocket science.

The same Sherwood who lost ten of his last thirteen games and looked utterly clueless towards the end of his reign?
People who bring up Sherwood make me....

As for RDM's departure. I know one man who might be happy right now....

Have no idea who to get but it has to be right and probably Bruce is the one for our current position but it sticks in my gullet saying that!

Wonder if Bruce's daughter will be tagging along this time?

Re: The next Villa Manager
The likes of Wagner, Smith and Johnson fall into the same category as our last 3 managers for me, probably talented but not proven enough for a club with expectations and pressure like Villa........... and so would be a complete gamble again.
The likes of Bruce, Big Sam and Co would be underwhelming and not forward thinking enough, they might get us to plod back up the table and maybe get to the playoffs and up but then what? ........ a punt at best.
Maybe we need to aim higher and get this right once and for all. If the Doc can be persuasive enough and get someone of a higher calibre we would be in a better long term position. Money is no object, so why not?

Re: The next Villa Manager
Sherwood was all mouth and bravado but when that got old, he had no other ideas.
I dare say debate over the new manager will have a tendency to get a bit "robust". And that's ok. But let's try not to let it get personal ok? Everyone has an opinion based on what they preceive as success, failure, personality, etc. Debate THAT, not the poster.
As for that pic of Bruce....jesus! He'll have a case of the Houllier's before he even gets his (custom made, obviously) tracksuit on.
Also, projecting forward, let's say we get Bruce in and Blues turn us over. If he even hints at something like they deserved the win, it'll be a bloodbath. He's just a huge NO for me for so many reasons.

Re: The next Villa Manager
Sherwood was tactically clueless. He moved Grealish to centre midfield to try and hold onto a lead at Leicester.
Jack Grealish. To CM. To hold a lead.

Prefer to be positive and look at this as an opportunity to get it right and at least give us a chance of promotion this season before it was too late to do anything about our dreadful start to this season.

Can we get in touch with Grealish via some young chick's Facebook account and ask the players' opinion on his sacking?
