Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Good signing and has to be an improvement on what we have currently in the back line.

BBC reporting he wasn't signed in time to play today but I'd tend to believe Wyness.

Will we be vertically challenged in the middle of our defence with Elphick and Chester?

Not if they play I'm a 3 with Baker. But would Dimatteo play that way?

Bacuna and Amavi are suited to play wing back too. I wonder if Baker has the smarts/positional sense to play as part of a back 3? We've no other candidate now that Clark has gone.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
You would think RDM will make contingency plans if we play against a player like say Benteke who's strong in the air? Surely we couldn't go with Elphick & Chester in that situation could we? Defending set pieces concerns me a little too especially when the big defenders come forward etc.. that is when it may cost us maybe?
Having said all that it'll be interesting to see what RDM has up his sleeve.

But if having 326 women all bearing his child plus a mother in the press all whilst being photographed sucking hippy-crack or whatever it's called doesn't humiliate you enough, nothing will.
But then for £3m a year with a few years left, why would he just walk away? Whoever did his last contract renewal was the galaxy's biggest idiot.
This seems to be the norm for lots of our sugarbag players, Fox & co were absolutely useless, its no wonder theres no spunk in this squad.

Seriously, send Gabby off on an errand and get the fucking locks changed while he's gone. It absolutely amazes me the level of blind faith, idolisation and forgiveness this shitpeddler gets (not on here, thankfully).

I normally don't like a 3 backline, and I've made it clear I prefer a 433, however I know Italians tend to prefer a 352 and I'd gladly accept a 3 man backline if it ment our defence could stop being utterly shit.
I'm absolutely convinced any good team is built from the back. Even shit teams can do incredibly well as long as their defence is ace. Norway in the 90's are a pretty good example, or Iceland this WC.
I was uncertain about Chester before he signed as I read a lot of people on different forums said he essentially was worse than Clark. Jury is still out. I've never seen him much. I do however have no issues with his height. Some of you might be uncertain about a CB on 180 cm, but some of the best CB's through time have been rather short. Ayala is 178 cm, Cannavaro 176 cm, Franco Baresi is 176 cm, Puyol is 176 cm and that's just the top of my head. Four of the absolutely best CB of all time. Obviously Baresi was more a sweeper than a CB, but being a CB is way more about understanding and timing than height.
I dare mention that Paul McGrath was only 183.
Edit: you should read this http://outsideoftheboot.com/2015/03/25/catenaccio-3-5-2-italy-tactics-strategy/
I don't agree with it all, but it's a good read.

I totally agree, height should not be a problem if the 2 CB play/gel well together, I remember Ken McNaught arriving and he was so slow first impressions he would be no good but he forged a brilliant partnership with Evans, probably the best one we have ever had, its all down to chemistry/teamwork lets wait & see.

The players were, but not the heights I must admit. I just knew they were midgets haha

Agree with @Joppe84 about the defence comment - we've all seen it enough at international level. I think it spreads confidence through the team & ends up having a positive affect on the strikers.

Well if Gestede can keep scoring, he'll be a great rotation option to have for our main striker, whoever we will sign.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Someone posted a picture of themselves with Keith Wyness on twitter, and apparently Wyness said that there are three signings imminent. Two of them most likely Jedinak and De Laet, third rumoured to be Bamford but that could be people guessing.

So Foresteri refused to travel, looks like he wants a move, MONEY TALKS once again, should we look to put a bid in? maybe Bennett and cash for him?

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Forestieri is good, but he is very similar in playstyle to McCormack and Ayew imo. What we need is a spearhead striker to compete with Gestede. Bamford will do. Or Hernandez.

If we do have the financial muscle that some think we have then we should get forestieri in to stop any potential rivals getting him. With Bennett wanted by them, there's a deal to be had. I've also been saying for some time to get Nahki Wells, rumours now of Newcastle wanting him. We could get him and offer Gabby in px?

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
What I noticed yesterday is that all of the players signed - there aren't any big time charlies - they all appear to good pro's. Sure they want the money, who wouldn't - but we seem to have given a wide berth to players who think they to good for it all. So personally at this stage in our fragile development thats a good move - we don't want players who go on strike, or have an eye on the next move. We seem to have struck a good balance between ability and level heads...

I was told by a senior Villa employee yesterday (ok ok he is a programme seller) that Gabby is off to Northampton on loan.

I think this all comes back to Tony's rules for new signings?
If we make another 3 then I think we will be in a good place? Another 4 or 5 and I think we will be favorites to go up!
De Laet for RB, Jedinak + 1 other mid and Bamford up front. Tony has put his money where his mouth is!

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I still think we will sign Morrison. And when we do, I think Green will move out on loan. But we'll see.
We're linked to that Icelandic midfield man, Jedinak and Ledley. All have massive beards
