No Traore, Grealish or Gil so we're going to struggle for chances. But Bacuna can out a decent ball in and so can Amavi so I guess Gestede might get a few chances in the air.

1-0 and Gil to come on and make it 2-0 late on I reckon.

I think what's frustrating me at present is more due to sickness or injuries meaning I haven't seen the team together that I think could destroy other teams and this is a pain. If the ones I want to see together don't perform that's one thing but not even getting there so far is annoying.  Not sure if  I'm willing to criticise Tim for today's selection as I still think we're a RB and a striker short and I think Hutton knows this and there's not enough pressure on him even if he was capable.. still  think  we're way to strong for Sunderland.

Hutton allowed to look far too good down the right, fair play he's playing with a really positive mindset. Was a little disheartened after the first goal as the free kick was lovely but since then Sunderland have looked dare I say shambolic. With what on paper is probably not the most desirable Villa XI, I think we've had a really cracking half and to go in 2-1 from two Sinclair goals is really something.

Weakest link for me is Bacuna at present.

I love Sinclair... He might not have the guile to beat a man on the wing, but he sure can finish.

What a build up to the 2nd goal... Richards, to Gueye, to Amavi (who you knew was going to whip in a low cross from that position), and Sinclair who read it and finished brilliantly...

Richards was immense, Sanchez looked good, Hutton is getting forward but his crossing is awful... Gil needs to come on for Bacuna immediately this 2nd half. His passing will finish them off early on.

The problem with Hutton's crossing is he telegraphs his move too often - gets forward quick but then seems to think too much, slows the pace right down and then plays too obvious. With improvement to his play psychology he could be really good. Having said that, I don't think he's had to do anything defensively so I'm not going to champion him for starting RB just yet.

Richards is really solid, very happy with him. Sanchez is better again, he is the most improved player thus far for me. Absolutely need to see Gil come on for Bacuna you're right.

Striker. Now.

I'm sorry, but Gestede isn't good enough for this level. I don't mind having afroman as backup, but he just isn't good enough. Nothing he can develop or get into. He doesn't have the basics.

Richards is impressing me, so lots of pie for me there.
Also think Sanchez has grown into this league.
Gana is excellent as long as he has engine, for about 75 minutes.
Sinclair is ace.
Clark needs to get his fucking head straight. This loss of points was ENTIRELY on you. Fucking amateur.

We also looked a totally different team with Gil on. No idea why are not playing him from start. Gestede can fuck off.

Sherwood's tactical naiveté is starting to bother me. Gil should have been introduced immediately after Sunderland equalized and we should have seen either Kozak or Ayew introduced shortly afterward for Gestede. Both teams were exhausted at about 70 minutes, but we were still creating chances, just not finishing them. Another striker could have won the game for us.

I think we showed some real promise today. Very positive to see the runs and touches being made. Unfortunately we absolutely lack a striker on the pitch. Gestede looks scared when he gets the ball and even though he holds it up for a while his passes are then dire.

Sanchez has really changed my opinion of him this season. Think he's been brilliant so far. Why we didn't try Kozak at 70 is beyond me.

Looking forward to seeing the team gel together more and continue this upwards swing of decent football.

Bitterly disappointed, we were head and shoulders better. 21 shots in all, just lack that decisive goal scorer. Sinclair less prominent for the second half, what a player Gil is though - I really hope his lack of match time is down to fitness and not some petty squabble.

The difference maker was Toivonen, their second goal was a combination of excellent play from him and a really poor lack of commitment from Clark. I thought Rudy played well but he isn't going to be our goal-getter. I am however excited by the prospect of the best bits of today getting together with Grealish, Traore and a full-time Gil, not to mention the window is not yet closed.
