Re: Libor Kozak
I was pleased when we signed zog however that turned to dismay when I started to follow him on twitter . And that was not alleviated after he started playing for the & was disiplined for his off field activities . Yes he has talent but he is what could be described as an end of season player ,and he does not seem to be a team player

Top lad, hope hes back to full fitness.
This. I'd watch him play for 60 minutes and he'd look horrible. Completely stuff up every touch and then out of nowhere he'd bob up and put away a header.

Re: Libor Kozak
I thought this was the Kozak thread. :o
Unsure about Kozak although I think a lot of the criticism directed at him was due to needing a creative midfielder more. His ratio of games played to goals scored is decent if you also take into consideration that he was new to the Premiership but his first touch is a little sluggish for my liking as well as his movement.
Room for improvement though and if he recovers from injury in time for the start of next season which seems likely then we will need him to hit the ground running with Benteke out.

I thought kozak was poor last season. I don't think he'll do much to help results or performances improve next season.

Re: Libor Kozak
Vlaar had a fairly bad first season and it might be Kozak needs time to acclimatise to a) the PL and b) playing counter-attacking football. It's a shame he and Albrighton weren't on the pitch at the same time. I imagine he'll be leading the line until at least when Benteke comes back at Christmas so we'll see.

Not great news. Bit odd that this is the only source I could see running with it though?

Aston Villa striker Libor Kozak has suffered a setback in his bid to return to fitness, Paul Lambert revealed today.
The Czech striker suffered a broken leg in training back in January, but had looked on course to make a comeback within the next few weeks. However, Lambert admitted today that he has had to undergo another operation.
"Libor had another operation on Wednesday," the manager said. "He's had a setback on his leg but hopefully that will start to heal."
The was better news from Lambert on the progress of Christian Benteke, who is set to be included in the Villa squad for Saturday's clash with Manchester City after coming back from his own, long-term injury.

Has some barsteward put a curse on BMH and Villa park? because with Petrov's illness and the countless injury set backs, not to mention the poor feckers that have had their careers ended with us, something just ain't right.

Re: Libor Kozak
Just found a report from October and they think Kozak will be out until 2015,
Source: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-striker-libor-kozak-7873791
Kozak had spent eight months on the sidelines and is now unlikely to feature for Aston Villa again until 2015.

2015 is only a few weeks away.
But then Lambert will say he's not ready, not fit, etc. And when Benteke leaves and Weimann is suspended he'll come on and score a hattrick.

I like Kojack, he is a more agile harder working Bent and he has more in his locker than just tap ins and headers, he can actually play with the ball at his feet and pretty well, similar to Crouch when he's on form.

Re: Libor Kozak
Agree. I look forward to seeing something different. But then, he wouldn't work properly in a 4-3-3. I can't see him running his balls off defending for 70 minutes and then scoring the winner on the counter.

Re: Libor Kozak
Yeah I reckon he'd work best with Benteke in a 4-4-2, I know managers say oh no you don't want 2 big men up front but with Benteke's pace and abilities in creativity and Libor's good feet and an eye for goal we could make up for Libors lack of pace with supply from the wing, Grealish and N'Zog could do the job but N'Zog will need a massive pep talk.

Re: Libor Kozak
I do find him to be a bit underrated. I don't have the stats to hand but I'd imagine his goal per game/minutes/chance ratios are decent for us too.

Kozak never got going at Villa, I reckon he could turn out to be a very good signing indeed. I suspect had he remained uninjured last season we'd have finished higher up the table and I'm looking forward to him coming back.

He doesn't play pretty football but he'll score a decent number of goals. I'd have him starting above Gabby or Weimann IMO (once fit)

Wiemann is a striker and a poacher, I'd rather see him playing alongside Benteke or Kozak in a 4-4-2. I'm a big fan of Gabby but he's not had such a good time of it over the last year to two years. If we had striking options (Helenius who?) I agree with the poster here who said Gabby should come on as an impact sub (in Lambert's 60th minute, one-minute substitution window) to harass the hell out of the opposition.
Of course if we actually had more possession and didn't rely on our strikers to have one or two shots per match after running themselves ragged chasing hit-and-hope long balls they're never going to get then we might actually see the good Gabby again.

Re: Libor Kozak
I hope he's ready for the end of January, because I really do not think Benteke will still be a Villa player by then. They were singing his praises on the Sky panel today. £25 million price according to them. Someone will pay it.FoxyAV wrote:Kozak never got going at Villa, I reckon he could turn out to be a very good signing indeed. Excellent news! Let's hope he doesn't have to sit on the bench for a few months until he's needed like Okore did.
I wonder if he could even work up front with Benteke?

For me he's the type of bloke to bring on when we're knocking on the door & can't convert. He scores the ugly goals, the tap ins, awkward headers, the ones that keepers get a hand to but can't keep out. He's that sort of player but is very natural in front of goal, I think a full season out of him would be very productive.

I liked Kozak, its been a bit of a horror injury for him, especially with the setbacks he had. Hopefully he will be fit enough to contribute again soon, god knows we need all the help we can get in front of goal at the moment
