Re: Libor Kozak
Another goal scored last night. Seems to come out with positive reports from each non-first team game he plays. What hasn't he shown in training that Gabby has?
I've not seen any of his recent performances bar one pre-season game - anyone been keeping up with him properly to speculate what the eff is the issue?

The last thing we need is a repeat of Lambert alienating players.

I say give Libor a chance, he has scored a lot in pre-season, and every time I have seen him he appears to want the ball. What have we got to lose? its not like we are setting the premiership on fire at the moment.

Rudy Gestede doesn't even remotely look Premier League quality. Sherwood's first dud.

Agreed completely, but I don't think Sherwood shares many traits of Lambert which makes it all a bit confusing.

Early days for talking about setting the league on fire but I know where you're coming from. It may be that Sherwood is affording the opportunity to the new players to try and justify the purchases, but that then goes against the mentality of picking the team based on performance in training which Sherwood has already talked about. I certainly think he's worth a chance, unless Kozak's doing himself no favours and acting a prat at BMH.

Perhaps. Whilst the team feels a little experimental, I'm not sure we'll see the quality we're looking for in some players until there is a firm plan (including tactics, formation etc.). We may not see it at all, sure.

I think it is a little early to condemn Gestede to the bin!

It's not a case of condemning him to the bin - there does however seem to be an issue of great disparity between the quality he showed last season in a lower league to the standard of performance he has produced thus far in the top flight and therefore he plainly may not be suited to Premier League football.

Re: Libor Kozak
Under Tim Kozac has been on a move to Celtic, which he turned down, plays with the kids, and not even on the bench, would you be pissed off, also one of our players broke his leg. So no wonder he feels rejected, come on Tim give him a go.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood gives his thoughts on Libor Kozak as Villa's strikers remain goal-shy
22:30, 20 September 2015
By Gregg Evans
Only Rudy Gestede has scored of Villa's recognised strikers this season - but Sherwood says Kozak is still behind them
Libor Kozak is still way down the pecking order despite Aston Villa’s strikers bagging just one goal between them this season.
Boss Tim Sherwood confirmed that he favours Rudy Gestede, Gabby Agbonlahor, Jordan Ayew and makeshift forward Scott Sinclair ahead of the ex-Czech Republic international who has not featured for a single minute in the Premier League this term.
Kozak still travels to away games with the team and has made the matchday 18 in half of Villa’s top-flight games but he was again left out for the weekend defeat to rivals Albion.
“At the moment I favour the players in front of him,” said Sherwood.
“I will always have a striker on the bench.
“I had two on there (against Albion).
“Libor is still at the football club so he will be considered like everyone will be.
“Everyone who is here and has a squad number will be considered for the Premier League.”
Kozak is said to be training hard and determined to force his way into Sherwood’s plans.
Last week the 26-year-old scored for the U21s but that didn’t help his case as he had to watch from the sidelines.
Gestede is the only striker to have scored for Villa this season but the manager insists he isn’t worried.
“On Saturday I don’t think they got an awful lot of service to feed off so I couldn’t be critical of them and they worked very hard,” he said.
“All I can do is to ask them to work as hard as they do in training.
“We’re hoping it’ll just click and something will fall for them in front of goal.
“Am I worried? No. I would be more worried if we weren’t creating chances or working hard enough in training to put that right.”

Re: Libor Kozak
I have to wonder why we spent £7m on Gestede when Kozak is in the squad?
When you compare Rondon to Gestede, who cost only £12m....you have to ask yourself what the hell have we done that for?
Pretty sure we could of attracted him to Villa and certainly looks more of a Benteke type like-for-like replacement that Ayew and Gestede.
It's nailed on we'll be trying to bring in a striker in January.

It's MINDBOGGLING how he isn't playing over Gestede. It's up there fucking black holes, Easter Island statues, Bermuda triangle and women.

Agreed, I was at least expecting him on the bench tbh.

Is he even still at the club? He's never in the pictures of training any more. I wonder if there's more to this than we're being fed by the club

Re: Libor Kozak
This club freaks me out sometimes,
We can't win a game for toffee so we remove one of our main strike options Kozak out of the picture Then we proceed to have one of the hottest young prospects in Traore I've seen in a Villa shirt for ages who has the ability to destroy teams on his own....so we don't play him and we have a defence full of holes so we drop probably the most experienced international defender we have in Senderos too!
Bizarre!

Senderos is a strange one. I wasn't convinced by this signing at all but very quickly started to refer to him as "SenderBOSS". Now it's "SenderCarrierPigeonToFindHim".
Maybe he's been injured. What do I know?
