Would let him walk. Put Little in charge till the end of the season. Getting worse week on week.

hoping somebody can clarify this but by my reckoning from memory of watching games and looking at BBC stat reports i make it 4 consecutive games where the opposition have scored from every shot on target, can anyone ratify that? if so thats appalling

No, whatever happens Little should not be prevailed upon to take charge of team affairs. He may answer the summons out of a sense of duty but he should not be asked. His time as a manager has long passed, his place is upstairs.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
From the commentary on BBC WM Bruce had a Plan A that looked good and we were extremely unlucky not to be 2 or 3 up at half time.
But Ipswich had 2 players go off injured fairly early in the game so being at home you'd have thought we'd be utterly dominant in the 2nd half. But no, once again whatever was said at half time was counter productive, the substitutions seemed bizarre and we give away yet another goal late in the game.
This isn't a "gel" issue. This is a manager issue. And a chronic one.
Baker seemed to be MotM going off how many times I heard his name mentioned. He seemed to be playing defence, left wing, up front...
Oh well, may the bloodletting begin.

Ipswich had 1 shot, we had 22............... bruce gets them in at half time and they come out worse, on 67mins he changes things and we're even worse, that said, 22-1 shots, we are either very unlucky or we are part of some elaborate betting scam.
I hope we stuff wales in the 5nations, even that wont lift my spirits.
Our strategy of spending 50m every 6 months is obviously flawed, we need to be spending 500m, again, I'm so so sorry for Xia.

Warburton's available, we need an attack minded progressive manager. I'd seriously let someone else come in now, and let them have the rest of this season to get to know the players in preperation for the next campaign.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
Whatever Bruce is doing at the start of matches seems fine. At least some of the time. But he really seems to lack any kind of tactical clue.
The first half sounded decent as was the first half against Burton. But we've yet to put in a halfway decent 90 mins and for the money spent on the players we have that's just unacceptable.
5 at the back. At home. Against Ipswich. When we need to start a roll.
He needs to do the honourable thing now and jog on.

At the very least Elphick's time as anything but injury cover is surely up.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
Football is a simple game. Basically its kick off followed by roughly 90 minutes of playing time followed by, result... Villa lose (or occasionally, draw). Starting to look like a very bad decision to ignore Dean Smith - progressive manager and fellow fan. I know we should give him time, but Bruce is starting to look clueless. Unless his plan was always to get a big fat pay off like the others.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
I honestly give up, that was utter crap!
I really don't know what to suggest anymore but certainly the players don't actually meet until match days that much is bloody obvious. It is just a bunch of individuals put out to play a game of football!
As for that stat of 22 shots for Villa is utter rubbish, we had 2 in the second half and about 7 in the first half, having said that we should have won but we bloody well didn't again!

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
Hogan and Baker stood out..... the absolute opposite of our manager
Taylor is not in the 1 2 3 with Amavi and that's some statement considering Amavi's game of late
The keeper is the worst of the 3 we currently have and a country mile away from a want away Gollini
The pressure the players are under at this club tells, 2 weeks ago Mr Houriane was a nobody who was the star player at a nothing club, he would stand over a free kick with nothing to lose, no pressure to do anything and with that freedom and being at peace with the world, himself and his job, he could preform to his full potential, 2 weeks later, the man HAS TO DELIVER, that's the sort of pressure that the BIG expensive players can handle, not 3, 6 or 9million players, I'm talking 25million plus.
Round is over rated, we needed strengthening at the back and a top class keeper was needed......... Round and Calderwood seem to have set us back.
Thankfully Xia is an action man, he will sort this shit out, we just have to live through this nightmare till he does.

total shots was 22 v 11 and we had 9 on target to their 1, yep 1
Johnstone never made a save the whole game, their keeper made 8

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
seven points of the relegation places, Barnsley really is a must win game, because after that it's Newcastle away. In the last four games we've thrown a two goal lead away to Preston, and lost to relegation candidates Brentford, Forest and Ipswich. And I thought January was going to be our chance to close the gap on the play-off places, as it turns out I actually found myself feeling relieved that Derby made a comeback against Bristol City, because instead of looking up we're looking at the other end of the table.
I really hope that Round is doing his homework, on our next manager and we don't go for yet another with dinosaur tactics. Then again the way things are going, Xia might be having second thoughts about Round himself.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
I don't know what the problem is BUT the canker at our club must have been MASSIVE it will take time to turn the club around, we have brought in some solid players we just have to let it run now and see what happens, yes I know it really hurts seeing this happen week after week but we have to believe that it will turn round looks like it wont be this season but we have to see it through. On another note we still don't have team work we squander chances because we don't release the ball to better placed TEAMATES, once we get that through some thick heads then we will see improvement.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
The whole team seems set up to accommodate Johnson is goal.
Personally I think we have 2 many chiefs - Wyness, Round, Bruce, Calderwood. I can't back this up with anything but a hunch - but a pound to a penny Bruce hasn't got total control of the playing side.
Listened to an interview with Steve Round - who struck me as a total bullshiter who will go to any length to justify his position.
Not defending Bruce - but whilst there is interference on the playing side - youre going to get problems

agree Saunders
wait till you watch it all back later though mate, we were far from good, but how the ball stayed out of their net I will never know and their goal had to ricochet off our defenders leg and land perfect for their guy to even have a hope in hell of putting it away, it feels like I said earlier, a bloody curse or something.

Bunn has to start next game.
I don't now how true it is - but is being touted the last 5 shots on target against us - have resulted in 3 goals !
today ipswich had one shot on target.

Re: Match thread: Villa v Ipswich
The playing side is totally down to Bruce and the coaches. The only thing Round can be blamed for in terms of what happens on the pitch, is chosing Bruce in the first place as our manager. Plenty of other teams have DoF or similar and they do perfectly fine, the question for us is do we have the right one.
