Ipswich vs Villa match thread
Blimey are we still so traumatised about Wednesday that no-one wanted to start this thread?
Anyway news is of course that De Laet is out for the season so will need to be replaced. And Mccormack is apparently doubtful too. The silver lining though is Grealish, Tshibola and Adaomah are said to be all fit for tomorrow
My Team
442..
..................Gollini..................
..Richards..Elphick..Chester..Cissokho...
..Adomah..Tshibola..Jedinak..Grealish..
.........................Ayew...................
.................Kodjia..................
Or 433
..................Gollini..................
..Richards..Elphick..Chester..Cissokho...
..............Tshibola..Jedinak.......
....................Grealish.................
............Adomah..........Ayew...........
.......................Kodjia.................
Either way imo that would probably be the most balanced side we've put out this season and I think the balance will lift our performance by another 30 to 40% tbh. Tshbola could be absolutely vital because he'll provide pace and drive alongside Jedinak which we haven't had since he arrived. He's also someone who can break forward quickly with the ball. Adomah on that right-hand side is gonna be crucial too. He'll provide more pace down that side and another goal/assist threat. That in turn allows Kodjia to flourish in his best position which is upfront. Looking for Ayew to score a goal here!!..and I hope this game is the start of big things to come. Adomah, Grealish, Ayew and Kodjia, tell me a better four man attack in the league right now? Gayle, Ritchie, Perez and Shelvey? Not for me. Call me biased but I don't think so.

I like the 442 but sadly I think RDM will have Bacuna at RB and Westwood starting for either Tish or Ado

Well he's putting his own head on the block if he continues with Westwood so it's his choice. Personally I think he's gonna make the change as Tshibola has clearly been missed and Jedinak won't be dropped. Adomah obviously needs to be in the side too so lets see what happens.

Re: Ipswich vs Villa match thread
Thanks for starting the thread AT.
I like your 4-2-3-1 set up. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise that RDM can't put McCormack on. Or can he??
A must-win. Absolutely must must MUST win.
2-1 Villa. Grealish and Kodjia to dominate.
Someone on FB was talking about a chant using the old Heartbeat theme (is that still on TV???)...
Aaron Tshibola
Aaron Tshibola

Aaron Tshibola
Albert....Albert Adomah
Runs down the wing for me.

Re: Ipswich vs Villa match thread
Haha I like the Heartbeat song. (It finished about 5 years ago I think mate)
As for the game, the pressure of not being at VP isn't there so no excuses in that department. I imagine Richards will be at RB for this game and if he can perform like he did last time at RB I think we'll do OK. I hope we get 3 in the centre. Tish, Jedi and Gardner (or maybe another CM) with Grealish just sitting in front "in the hole" with Kodija and Ayew up top. 4-3-1-2. Not much width admittedly but both Ayew and Grealish can always come out wider if needed. We need to solidify the middle of the park though. That's our weak point.
A nervy 2-1 win I think. 2 goals up with Ipswich scoring in the 80th to set panic mode but I hope we hold on. (It's my birthday so they better bloody do! Haha)

Anyone but Richards at rb. We could actually just get a chicken from a local farmer at BH and cut its head off if that's what we need.

Hippy Bathday!
Really looking forward to seeing what RDM puts out. Is Grealish fit or not?
Just had a quick look on an Ipswich forum. Many think it's a nailed-on 1-1 draw.

Re: Ipswich vs Villa match thread
im praying btoday is the start of our championship march. if we can take a couple of our early chances we should be able to hold out for the win, it aint going to be easy!
follow this up with a surprise win over newcastle next week and all of a sudden we can all wear our claret and blue glasses again.

Got a feeling that after not doing what we're supposed to have done to recent opposition, we'll go and completely destroy one of the teams we should draw against.
0-3 Kodija and sub Rudy to score em.

Sorry DK I think he will do with the new boys, we haven't managed to get them all together on the pitch yet if they are fit & ready he will play em. We have to assume that RDM has had a long chat with Richards if he doesn't have the mindset to get stuck in then its best to leave him out, but he is supposed to be a professional player so the arm round the shoulders and a bit of ego caressing might just get him back on track, if it does then we will have our RB.

Will be there be streams for this? I find it weird that all matches in the Championship isn't televised. Even in Norway the second division is televised.

At least the game is watchable as Bein sports 12HD are showing it, should be able to find a stream.

TEAM NEWS IN
So by the looks of it we're playing 532
.....................Gollini...................
.........Elphick..Chester..Baker
..Bacuna...........................Amavi.........
.............Westwood..Jedinak..........
.....................Grealish...........
................Kodjia.......Ayew...............
Well it looks like RDM has rolled the dice today. Is this because Mccormack and Gestede aren't available or does he just want to be more defensive? 532 hasn't been our friend in recent times so lets hope something changes today.
Gollini, Bacuna, Elphick, Chester, Baker, Amavi, Westwood, Jedinak, Grealish, Ayew, Kodjia
Subs: Bunn, Richards, Hutton, Kozak, Gardner, Adomah, Cissokho

Not particularly comforted by the team sheet. I think something bad is going to happen at Portman Road.
Cue a week of bile directed at RDM.

Re: Ipswich vs Villa match thread
I expect to Amavi and Bacuna will be told to get forward as much as they can because otherwise there's a real disconnect between the back 7 and front 3.
Stroke of genius or another baffling tactical exercise?

Re: Ipswich vs Villa match thread
I hope Amavi isn't as bad as he looked Wednesday, I can see his reason for going 532, even in pre season I thought we left too much room through the middle defensively, this could actually work.
Unfortunately my head says this game has 0-0 written all it.

Where's Gestede?
If we are chasing a goal it looks like Kozak is our only option up front. Not too confident right now
