Ipswich Vs Aston Villa Match Thread
They don't have a manager, we've won two on the spin and we could potentially find ourselves one or two points off second spot IF results go our way. So I guess that means this should be an Ipswich home banker right?
Terry and Hutton are apparently back In training and It's gonna be interesting to see if Kodjia starts again and whether Adomah will remain on the bench. Personally, This is the team I'd play.
...................Johnston...............
....Elmo...Chester...Terry...Taylor....
...............Thor...Hourihane........
...................Grealish................
........Snodgrass..........Adomah.....
.....................Kodjia..............
Might be harsh on Grabban but I just want to see how that front four does for an hour at least as I think it's the best combination we have tbh. Not sure Bruce will play Thor though, he'll probably stick with Whelan knowing him.
Whoever he picks, let's just hope we can get another decent result!!..

We must win this to keep the pressure on Fulham and Cardiff whilst it's still mathematically possible to catch them, if you look at the permutations, it's not exactly a miracle we're asking for, any other stage of the season and Cardiff losing a couple of games out of four and Fulham losing one, wouldn't seem all that improbable, it's us winning all three that's the long shot, but if we can do that then we could still get second.

I'm going so sods law means we will probably lose a game which we should comfortably win.
Just the way it goes.

Obviously a must win for us & we need a big week when every result goes for us if we are to realistically pressure Fulham and especially Cardiff for second.
It's the Cardiff v Forest game worries me as i just can't see Forest winning that. Millwall have a chance against Fulham of course and we have a chance at Ipswich if we turn up (which is the big worry with this Villa team)

Frustrating 1-1 for me. Not sure how many teams we've played this season who just appointed/got rid of a manager but it must be some kind of record. From memory this occurred against Forest, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and now Ipswich. In fact the first three had appointed new managers (Karanka, Pulis and Coleman) just before we played them so we had to contend with the new manager effect. There might be other teams this season where this has happened right before we played them but if so i cant remember. Still an extraordinary run of pre- fixture managerial changes though.

Can also add reading to that list I reckon as there was only 1 fixture between Clement getting appointed and us playing them. It really is incredible how many teams we've met this season either straight after or 1-2 fixtures after a new boss takes over.

So out of the 11 sacked championship managers this season we've played those clubs immediately or 1 fixture afterwards on 5 occasions. Blimey.
The good news is that the 4 occasions that have happened, we won the matches, so let's hope number 5 tomorrow continues that streak.

Kodjia out for tomorrow due to a sore ankle. Terry a faint possibility for tomorrow and Hutton not ready until Monday at the earliest.

Re: Ipswich Vs Aston Villa Match Thread
Pressure is off now tomorrow, all over for second as no chance are Fulham not winning at least one game from Sunderland at home & Sha away and thats without even thinking about Cardiff who are in an even stronger position.
So what should SB do? Practice run for the playoffs? Try something different maybe? Introduce some of the youngsters thus protecting some of the mainstays?

Conor alert to mop-up a rebound, solid if not exciting performance. Disgusting challenge on Taylor sees Grant Ward sent off and Ipswich fans now booing the absolute fuck out of Taylor every time he touches the ball, despite the fact his career could've ended this afternoon. Fucking inbred wankers.

Really should be seeing this as an opportunity to increase our goal difference, as it could play a part come the end of the season.

Got to take advantage of Ipswich going down to 10 men and cut down the goal difference, sods law say's we don't.
For those that want to watch the game there are streams out there, as for me I'm watching it on Kodi Bein sports 8 great picture shame the commentary is Arabic and the commentator must of said Aston Villa a thousand times in the first half.

We're bossing this now. Going to be more painful for Ipswich seeing out this game than a knee high tackle.

Glorious brace for Grabban, tucking both goals in against the inside of the post. Honestly don't see what Hogan offers this team, would much rather find a way to keep Grabban and let Hogan go.

Lansbury in on the act too, the goals are just falling out of this one now.
Edit: and Adomah just about to come on too. Brilliant.
Grealish is a cocktease though, choosing to toy with the nerves of Ipswich and the emotions of the travelling fans. Wish he would just wrap his foot around a shot but maybe he sees it as a special move or something.

Can't really complain at that, expect maybe to say we could have scored more, if we'd have been more clinical, but at least we've boosted our goal difference. I thought Grabban, Whelan and Onomah were all excellent.

Re: Ipswich Vs Aston Villa Match Thread
Probably won't come into play now anyway. Sunderland are now relegated (in part thanks to Darren Bent of all people, who they hate because he left them to join us) so they have nothing to play for, meaning Fulham will probably not only beat them, but by a big margin, birmingham winning today is also a bad result for us, not just because of rivalry reasons, but because it also means they're less likely to have something to play for on the last day of the season, and if safe, would probably prefer to lose if it meant denying us second place.
