Aston Villa vs Ipswich match thead
Another day, another match thread!!..for what will be our third game in a week. Ipswich have been no mugs this season tbf and have a nack of scoring goals whilst also letting in a few themselves. They've got a good little strikeforce in Waghorn and Garner who have scored most of their goals. Whilst a young lad they've got on loan from City has pulled some of the strings in midfield aswell. So this could be a tight affair tbh.
Bruce hinted that he may make a few changes for this game...so who could that be? IMO he doesn't really have much options. Chester and Samba have to play, Taylor has just returned from a ban so he should still be fresh, Adomah is our top scorer so cannot be rested, Davis is our only striker so again can't be rested whilst Hourihane is our second top scorer, so again we probably cannot afford to rest him either. So when I think about it, this could be the team on Saturday.
........................Johnstone..............................
.........Elmo.....Chester....Samba....Taylor......
...................Jedinak...Hourihane............
..........................Grealish...............
.................Snodgrass.......Adomah....
............................Davis............................
Those are the only changes where I could probably understand. Although with Onomah having three goals to his name thus far, it would be a brave call to rest him now tbh. Elmo coming back I think helps us going forward because his crosses have lead to the two goals Davis has thus far.
All in all, Mccarthy will no doubt have them well drilled and organised. Thankfully we've had an extra days rest which could potentially make a difference in the later stages of the game. They also just let in a last minute goal against Wednesday and dropped points so confidence may be a little fragile. Knowing the Villa though, don't be surprised if we're all biting our nails with five minutes to go again .
COME ON VILLA!!!

Ipswich play the most long balls in the league, so starting with the aerial advantage of Jedinak and Elmohamady might be a good idea. Have a feeling that Bruce might rest Onomah, but bring in Lansbury rather than Grealish, unless he's going to play 4411

Another tough match, we have to be up for it not half soaked like Tuesday cos McCarthy always has his team fired up just like Warnock. Recently we have been good after a poor game so heres hoping.

Be expecting to see Elmo and Jedi in the side tomorrow. Certainly need to drop Whelan.
If we up an at em we could run out with a decent win. If the lethargic villa turn up we could slip up cos they have goals in them.
3-0 win for me
I'll be getting tanked at Twickers tomorrow bet I'm the only one at the game watching the villa score on my phone!

Hoping for a good win today. But i get the feeling nerves will be jangling a bit.
1 nil up after 80 mins and then a late second to seal the 3 points would do.

As a matter of interest that scoreline you predicted, is it what you expect or what you would like.

Re: Aston Villa vs Ipswich match thead
Had a feeling after listening to Bruce's press conference yesterday that we'd see pretty much the same side, although I thought Jedinak would come in for Whelan. Dropping Samba is a strange decision for me, against Ipswich of all teams, unless he's injured.
Ipswich haven't won in the last four away games, and haven't taken a single point from a top ten team, yet despite that, I'm not feeling particularly confident today, and those kind of runs have to end at some point.

We need the likes of Hourihane, Snodgrass and Davis especially to start chipping in with more goals, otherwise we're going to struggle to break teams down.

Wolves once again showing that they're pretty much unstoppable this season. Whilst we struggle against any half decent side unless, they happen to have an injury crisis.

Because I'm hoping if I go over the top with criticism, they'll go and score and make me looks silly.
Would be nice to get a third, to round things off.

Not good news for us injury wise, Jedi off after 25min with a shoulder injury and now our only strike Davies off with what looks like a groin injury.

That was a really top notch professional performance. Not spectacular but very good.
Special mention to Bertie, Hutton, Whelan and, Snoddy

Wasn't an injury as such, clipped in the balls by the defenders boot
