Keeping my head down - uneasy times in the DK household with Austria losing. All I did was make myself a sandwich and asked Mrs DK if she was hungry and she threw a kettle at me. Touchy fucking Austrians.....

Not grinning like a twat now show pony haha. Well done Iceland think I'll go and buy a frozen chicken in celebration tomorrow. Early days and I'm sure Portugal will be in at least the quarters but for now it's nice to see them pegged back by the Vikings.

Headline
"Russian Ultras attack England and Wales fans in Lille amid Euro 2016..."
Russian 'ultras' have attacked English and Welsh fans in Lille this afternoon after 'hyper violent' thugs ignored UEFA's threat to ban their country from Euro 2016.
No. What's happening is paid mercenaries who may or may not be Russians are trying desperately to goad English fans into a reaction to get England disqualified from the tournament so that England are out of the tournament before the country goes to the polls for the EU Referendum which is next week.
It is incredibly transparent but the mass media will not provide an alternative narrative. These really are Russian fans and they are "out to get England fans" because they are uncivilized barbarians. That is the media narrative, lazy, politically convenient and dangerously wrong.

That's some conspiracy theory!!
Care to elaborate on it, as i'm struggling to see why someone would be paying someone to do this as it has no effect on the EU referendum at all as far as i can see??

That sounds like a sore losers type of comment. Maybe it's a lack of poor team that is making the games tight and unpredictable?

Re: The EURO 2016 Thread
That's a pretty bold claim Con. If they are paid mercenaries who's to say they are not paid by Putin as part of his ongoing narrative of Russian machismo? Personally I feel it's as mundane as just Russian "ultra ultras" claiming hooligan top spot. Hard to coordinate a conspiracy via YouTube and 5 minutes of browsing on there will give you not only plenty of ultra Russian football and racism clips but also plenty of clips of opposing Russian hooligans literally mass-meeting in a field to kick fuck out of each other. Usual rules are: not tooled up and not too many kicks when opponents have dropped. What's going on at the Euros looks like a massively upgraded and tooled up version of that. I don't doubt it's organised and sinister but I seriously doubt - despite his Russian name - that they are taking orders from Boris in his Brexit bunker in Westminster.....
Now look what you've done Con.....we're gonna get another bollocking from 4Bet for non-football posts

Well, that's because it's a sore loser making the comment.
But I can't agree. Hungary, Austria, Sweden, Albania ++ are god awful. Says a lot about how much work the Norwegian national team has to do.

Re: The EURO 2016 Thread
I once watched an interview with a black CSKA Moscow fan.
His family.moved from Africa to Russia before he was born and Russia is the only home he's ever known. Funny accent but still Russian.
He was a CSKA Moscow fan. On his way to a home match, wearing a CSKA Moscow shirt, the CSKA Moscow Ultras beat him so badly he was hospitalised. His own fans put him in hospital based solely on skin colour.
Russian football has endemic problems which don't need conspiracy theories to explain

I've invited the double Russian ultra's (they are triple hard) over to BMH to play in a 5 a-side against our finest......... guzan, bacuna, richards, lecsott and flabby. Alf T and his Mrs are making the sandwiches (she can wear her Scum top Alf;) ), FoxyAV's gnome will referee the match and we need beer, can anyone think who should bring the beer? ermmmmmmmm...............

Re: The EURO 2016 Thread
I've got an alternative conspiracy theory.....the thugs are paid by fifa to ensure Russia gets stripped of the WC as this way FIFA can avoid the difficult questions that will arise regarding their bent awarding of them in the first place. There you go Con, have that one on me mate.
On a footballing note *glances nervously in case 4Bet is checking* well done France. That's how to finish off stubborn and plucky opponents, not being afraid to replace striker A with striker B if it isn't working. We're you watching Woy???

So far UEFA have only officially threatened to kick Russia out, and only if there is trouble inside the ground as they have no jurisdiction on what happens outside the ground.
I's still wait a day or so to find out what actually happened today, as last time it was all lumped straight on England fans and turned out to be wrong, my guess is the same thing happened here, but English and possibly Welsh fans were ready and didn't just run this time.
Either way, stronger measures need to be taken against Hooliganism and it needs governments to take them as UEFA can only do so much, and going to these tournaments should be a carnival atmosphere.
2 places they can start is ban alcohol and bring in decent prison sentences for those fighting, and i mean years not weeks or months.

Re: The EURO 2016 Thread
My guess is that every bully, thug & his dog will have seen all the trouble and jumped on the next train over there as they would hate to miss it. With no thought about England getting kicked out of course as they don't give a stuff about that and everybody else. Lets hope it all just fizzles out but it doesn't look good.

sure, the game against Russia enables plausible deniability. this is the cover they use to hide the fact it is fixed.
if it is true that there is (merc paid for) fan violence by England fans then we will get kicked out for sure if we manage to beat the Welsh and get an honest game from the German* referee.
Despite our manager, we have got some good players and I believe they will play to win.
*not fixed at all. but if it was chances of a red card or penalty against us very high.

Re: The EURO 2016 Thread
zonal defensive marking against set piece specialists - Bale scored the most headers in Europe last season - shouldn't we at least mark him?
who actually still believes this is a legitimate contest?
Okay, Lallana was playing hard to win... we've still got Lallana!

I actually can't believe he's plying Sterling again! The guy is atrocious! Lallana is too lightweight and as a result yet again England a crap up front... As for that pathetic goal Hart conceded
Still not bothered either way really, there's no chance England will be progressing to the knock out stages with a manager who clearly hasn't a clue.
