Re: Boardroom structure
It is with regret that Aston Villa Football Club today announces the resignations of Mervyn King and David Bernstein as directors of the Club.
The Club would like to thank both for all their efforts throughout their short time as members of the Board.
A search to appoint a new manager remains a priority.
The Chairman, Steve Hollis, is currently engaged in extensive negotiations in relation to the sale of the Club.
Brian Little will continue to advise the Chairman on all football related matters.

Re: Boardroom structure
Twitter have a copy of what they claim is Bernstein's resignation - stating that he was brought in to identify the changes required and implement them, but that it's come to light the changes wouldn't be possible without fundamental changes to the club.

I'm shocked that I feel real shock regarding these resignations, as I should have been and will now be expecting the worst for Aston Villa.
Fuck you Ellis, why did your sell our club to this man.

I'm floored by this... How bad are things behind the scenes? Just like Villa, we finally get the right people in place and they aren't allowed to make the changes necessary to turn the club around. Unbelievable...

For fuck sake, i mean really!!!!! This is the last thing we needed. Cannot believe this bollox. Staff at the club knew nothing about it until it broke on Sky Sports News. As for a new owner, noone has any info what so ever. Fucking shittards, complete shittards

Re: Boardroom structure
King's last sentence suggests to me a sale isn't close, but they left because Lerner refused to spend the cash they recommended. Whether it was their or a new managers demands. We're fucked. Lerner is cancer.

Complete shambles. Im just hoping the "The Chairman, Steve Hollis, is currently engaged in extensive negotiations in relation to the sale of the Club." bit is genuine and means a sale is imminent

Although my gut feeling was Lerner has said our Championship budget is comparable to that of mid-table League 2, and we will struggle for years

I was looking on the positives when we were relegated but his has threw a serious spanner into the works for me.
I'm very very concerned for the future of our club.

Re: Boardroom structure
This is something to wake up to!
My first thoughts are that its not money related. Randy has shown a willingness to put up his own cash in the past and with the people we have - HAD - on board, raising funds would not have been hard to do.
So then it has to be power related. King and Bernstein analyse the faults at the club, put forward a plan to fix them and start the long process of turning the ship around...only for Lerner to stick his oar in and tell them it's to be done his way.
People who were set for the chop, players who were set for release, etc have been saved by Lerner????
What a disaster. This board gave me such confidence things would change. And massively. It seemed Randy had finally learned from his years of mistakes and was happy just to be the owner whilst more qualified people ran things for him.
But clearly he's a massive prick. The next home game will be absolutely vile. Whatever protest happens next needs to be absolutely humiliating for Lerner. I'm talking everyone on the pitch at a certain point (coordination of that will see the game played behind closed doors). Then again, what a talking point that would be!
I still stick by my idea of a public funding of any money due to go to Lerner through ticket and merchandising sales go to Acorns with a few words on the donation making it clear that this money was originally meant for Lerner's pocket.
What an absolute sugarbag!
