I assume that he was the easiest to get rid of and the other two will probably involve payoffs, surprise, surprise!

Can't believe he said this:

"I'm appreciative to the Board and the owner for the opportunity to help put Villa back on a solid footing and able to compete in the most competitive sports league in the world."

That is totally unbelievable as we won't be competing next season in the 'most competitive league in the world', so he failed! lol!

Nothing of this matters. The crux of the problem and the reason to our demise is Lerner budgeting this club like a championship team since 2010.

We simply will never achieve anything as long as that man is in control.

I want Lerner gone - but don't agree its total despair until he does.

Lets just say he sells to someone who is well meaning - but doesn't have access to the million\billons to ensure success - but just tries to run the club the best he can. In relative terms I would be happy with that.

But thinking about it is that that different to what we may have no. Lerner isn't going to pump in millions and IMO won't be involved in many decisions at the club, unless he wants to sell or sack Hollis.

From what I can gather Hollis has identified to many inexperienced people in keys jobs - and he is looking for a solid manager to replace Garde - Hence why Bruce is very high on his list.

Get the right manager in - and Im convinced we can have decent season next year.

It's a money game. This club is dead unless we find the right rich bloke. Without it I'd wager we won't win another trophy in my life time. I'm 31 so I suspect that covers most of you as well.

If you waiting on a Man City type takeover I fear you will be disappointed.

Yes its a money game - but look at the likes of stoke, wba, established PL clubs without mega rich owners - and it was only a couple of seasons ago that Wigan won the FA Cup.

You have to remain competitive and be ready to strike when the big boys slip - thats the best Im hoping for

Well said. I've no desire for a Man City type ownership, look how hollow they are viewed by everyone. If it were a Blackburn type league championship win with a jack walker as owner then brilliant, but that's next to impossible in this current era of football. As said above, Aston Villa if run properly should be able to compete to such a point that when the money clubs slip up we are among a handful of clubs capable of taking advantage and perhaps picking up the occasional piece of silverware. That's all I want. It's not much to ask for!

I love that you brought up WBA and Stoke, as neither of those have won anything since 1970/1971. We won't win anything unless we get that takeover. The CL monopoly has made sure of that. Simply because Leicester have an outlandish fairy tale season, doesn't hide the fact that it's the equivalent of winning the lottery.

Days of trophies, European football are well over.

I have to be honest here, I don't care for European football anymore. I don't lust after top4 like I used to. As you have correctly pointed out, Champions league has become a playground for oil and gas Billionaires and that has spread to club football. I've said for some time now that there will be a European super league soon, and as we have recently heard talks are ongoing between these super rich clubs. It's only a matter of time before it happens and, frankly, they can all fuck off and play in their own league, desert hopping around the world. That'll leave the rest of us to get back to some kind of reality and compete relatively equally once more in our own country. The sooner the oligarchs and sheikhs get bored and fuck off the better for everyone, any billionaires in fact. Let's get clubs back into ownership that their fans can relate to. This lust for money has become perverse in football now. It's boring to me and completely vacuous.

I couldn't give a shit about European footy right now, I just want the club stabilised in the top flight for the moment.

As for trophies only being available for the rich - the FA cup semi finals contain Everton, Palace, Watford and (probably) West Ham, Wigan won it in 2013, Pompy in 2008.  Swansea won the league cup in 2013, Blues won it in 2011.

The Premier League is largely out of touch unless you are bankrolled by a billionaire, but trophies are not

I couldn't really give a shit for the PL - and the champions league, it just hype and a lot of 0-1 - 1-0..s. If we qualified for CL \ Europa I doubt I would be paying over and above my season ticket to attend games.

Reasonable villa team that wins the bulk of its home games - is the first milestone we need to hit. That should be achievable over the next couple of seasons despite the dogs breakfast Tom Fox and his mates have left.

Club Statement: New Football Board/Head of Football Operations

"The Board of Directors has appointed a Football Board to oversee all football matters at the Club.

This new Board will be Chaired by David Bernstein and Mervyn King and will include Brian Little and a new Head of Football Operations (HFO) when recruited.

The manager will report directly to David Bernstein. All other football functions will report to the HFO.

This reorganisation will provide specialist and dedicated control at Bodymoor Heath with the aim of bringing stability, confidence and a platform for long term success to Aston Villa Football Club."

Looks like things are picking up pace now....unless they appoint Reilly as the HFO!
