Re: Aston Villa Texas Tour 2014: Match Reports and Comments Thread
Liked Hutton and Stevens that half. Grealish started nervy, but really looked comfortable and made some smooth runs with the ball. I've not seen him play before, but it is really impressive how the ball just sticks to the kid's feet when he's moving with it.
The guys who've been out of the game for a year were the ones making the mistakes. Okore and Gardner looked a step off to start, but GG came into things nicely. Okore has some work to do.
Chris Herd is playing the wrong sport. I don't know what his right sport is, but it ain't football. Terrible, terrible player. At least he gives some bite to midfield, but he's a red card waiting to happen.
Fairly meh half all around. 50-50ish possession, it felt like, and Villa had loads of good chances.

Nice to see the lads staying awake to watch. We might not be happy with things as they stand regarding Lerner and Lambert but Aston Villa is in our blood.
PS. Who's missus is bit suspicious as to what were doing on the Internet at this time of night?

Re: Aston Villa Texas Tour 2014: Match Reports and Comments Thread
I'm just loving the commentary!
Shay Given - looked comfortable with not a lot to do as Dallas skylined a lot of balls over his soccergoal.
Hutton - looked good in de-fence. Got forward well.
Okore - awful distribution and was lucky not to be punished.
Baker - still scares me. You can see he'll be torn apart by pace.
Stevens - he looked surprisingly good! Could give us an option.
Herd - oh dear. All that time off doing god knows what has drained him of any skill. Poor.
Bacuna - looks ok. Nothing bad, nothing fantastic.
Gardner - gotta be honest and say maybe it's the stream but I had to come back to edit this post as I'd missed someone off. Can't say I noticed he did anything wrong cuz I didn't notice that he did anything at all. Once again, our Great Hope fails to light the place up.
Grealish - looks composed and very comfortable at this level. Running the game. Will be a fantastic player in time.
Bent - I'm his number one detractor but he's looked good which may be an indication that USA Soccer still has someway to go cuz he's fat, slow and unfit. Having said that, he's tracked back very well which is very un-Bent-like. Set up Weimann very well. He's surprised me. More of the same please, Housebrick.
Weimann - has played the traditional Bent role: do fuck all the pop up with a goal.

I am LOVING the commentary. Piss your pants funny. Someone shinned a long range shot (Gardner I think?) and they said he "knuckled it". WTF? Hahahahaha. Must be a baseball reference.
Diaz "knifed" through our defence.
Come on, it's fucking brilliant! :) :) :)

Typical Villa now; no shape, no style, no edge, no vision, no clue.

This hasn't been a half for the style-seekers...hard for Villa to do anything when they're playing with 10 men (who's the guy up top this half??? Haven't seen or heard his name called since the 48th minute).

Oh yeah, and El Ahmadi has been terrible, too. There's being physical, and then there's attempted rape...he's attempting rape.
