Re: The next Villa Manager
I wish they'd just hurry and announce it now. I'll judge if it's a good appointment or not after he's had a run of games.

Is the ITK stream so dry that they have nothing to go on, or do they all genuinely believe it's a done deal. Unless of course they're just a bunch of lazy, copy and paste wasters who couldn't investigate a fire if you put a match to their trousers?
Im sure there will be a story that the appointment is in the balance over the next couple of days...
You're probably right smetro. They've started to give themselves a get out clause by saying he's still in the running for the England job.

Some interesting tweets from Pat Murphy. Seems like there still could be some already in a job, in contention.

Villa's recruitment team's done its due diligence & will be reporting tonight to Dr Tony with a recommendation. He will have final say 1/3
2/3 on new manager but won't be going off-piste as he did with RDM. SClarke interviewed 2day,no need for another 4 Bruce after 3 chats 2/3
3/3 with Keith Wyness. Not just down to those 2 tho',there are a couple under the radar who are with clubs & then it might get sensitive!
Pat Murphy @patmurphybbc 10m10 minutes ago
Villa's recruitment team has to decide whether or not to approach another club for permission to talk to a current manager - then SB/SC 1/2
2/2 will know they weren't first choice. No,I don't know who they are.Bruce remains favourite. They like Dyche tho'. Would he drop down a div?

Re: The next Villa Manager
I think a lot of us have ruled out Clarke on the basis that he was part of the team making crap tactical and team selection decisions. Thing is, what do you do when you are a number two and RDM (who employed you) is making a complete Horlicks of almost every decision.Do you stand by him loyally whilst tearing your hair out (metaphorically in Clarkes case!) or do you stand up and say what you think.
Perhaps we should not be so dismissive of him when the hot favourite has flaws of his own.

Don't think it will be Bruce now. I think we are going to make an abortive attempt for Dyche. Bruce, quite rightly wont want to come as back up choice.

Re: The next Villa Manager
Some moaning about Bruce but getting excited over the possibility of Dyche, but to be honest they both seem similar type of managers to me.
Besides, Murphy's tweets suggest that the alternative to Bruce and Clarke, is a name that hasn't been mentioned, which would rule Dyche out.

Re: The next Villa Manager
bruce will stand cap in hand and take even at 8th choice..............
It will be Howe, Hughes, Dyche, Wagner, Smith, Warburton............. or maybe we aiming even higher.
There's a decent manager over at Hebei China Fortune F.C......... maybe The Doc could pop in to see if he fancies managing a Man City clone.

So you're suggesting that Bruce will be "so offended" at not being first choice that he'd rather be unemployed? I can't agree with that reasoning. He's said he'd like the job and whatever the circumstance behind him being offered it I can't see him being a child about it. Because at the end of the day him getting a better job right now would be highly unlikely I'd say.
Anyway I have a feeling Oscar Garcia might be one of the managers flying under the radar. He's at a club himself. The other one could of course be Dyche but like others have said would he really want to drop down a division again? On Sunday Neill Moxley claimed "high profile names" had thrown their hats into the ring at the eleventh hour so I wonder if that has given the board some food for thought? Who knows.

Quique Sánchez Flores is a name that sprang to my mind. He's at Espanyol at the moment though.

Re: The next Villa Manager
Why did it take till today to interview Clarke, why so long to talk to bruce??????
The employed targets will obv be tapped up in advance of causing any embarrassment to all parties, it will just be a matter of if the clubs dig their heals in..........but if the target/s wants to come, their clubs will never hold onto a manager who wants out.
I'm ruling out foreign managers with no prem or championship experience due to previous list of cv requirements.
I too wouldn't say no to Garcia but could we get him from where he is.

Almost definitely nothing in it, but apparently Van Gal has suddenly come in at 7/2 on betfair.

Just a thought, Hollis wanted Moyes before sale went through?
Could Wyness be trying to put this together now, might explain the Neville link.

Re: The next Villa Manager
So in a nutshell, Pat Murphy has said it could be Bruce, Clarke or a manager that's already in a job.
Was there a hashtag CaptainObvious in there?
And I very much doubt that Xia was "off piste" with the appointment of RDM. He's made it clear from his approach to buy the club to his dealing with fans that he likes to listen to people so there's no way he pulled that name out of his arse and went with it, against the wishes of his CEO and advisors.
No. Way.
As for the Man Utd coaching links, it just seems to me that the media our writing stories about anyone that's previously worked with Bruce. Yesterday it was a coach from Sunderland, today it's one at Manure. Tomorrow it'll be someone else.
Although it's not been long since RDM's departure (and I have extreme doubts that the search for his replacement only started as his car rolled out the car park), the clock is very much ticking and I can't help but think that every day that goes by is a hammer-blow to Bruce's chances.
The media have picked two candidates that are on our doorstep and have run with it like a dog with a bone. Lazy journalism. The Birmingham Mail being the worst of the lot.

Re: The next Villa Manager
Phil Neville has turned down the chance to be our new assistant according to the Telegragh? He wants a managers role?
We surely need a manager before an Assistant? Who was he to be assistant to?
What I think they mean by Tony going off piste in appointing RDM is that Hollis had wanted Moyes or Pearson and when Moyes said no he recommended Pearson after interviewing him? I think Tony came in and got fooled by the CL winning manager thing of RDM?

Random tweet seen this morning that the players have written a letter to Tony requesting Clarke.
As if we are supposed believe that?? I mean players, write? What has Gabby got his crayons out?

Even if that was true, who gives a feck what they want? They have had Clarke on BMH for months and still regularly impress us by losing to all kinds of shit
