If we were playing twice a week I agree - but doing it in the international break gave us time to get it right.

Re: The next Villa Manager
predictably doesn't seem like round is to keen on bruce. From pat murphy
"Villa's technical director Steve Round - one of a trio charged with drawing up a shortlist for the owner, Dr Tony Xia - has yet to meet Bruce for specific discussions about Bruce's proposed backroom staff and other football issues,"
I know he goes on to say he is an admirer - but theres a good chance that Bruce will be asked to work with existing backroom staff (McGrath knows why) - would Brucey go for that ? - on the one hand Bruce , I beleive has had numerous assistants - he isn't one that takes the same assistants anywhere.....on the other he hasn't got the job and he his having his backroom staff imposed on him !!!!

Re: The next Villa Manager
We need it sorted soon so they can get this lot playing.
Im still sceptical about Clarke taking over as hes responsible for how they are playing as much as RDM.
Warnock has only just started at Cardiff and hes pulling some Bosmons out of his magic hat

I've seen this "oracle" referred to twice in the last few hours and I can tell you what it's worth. It's two worths, actually. There is what it is worth in his head - still ITK but hinting and drip feeding to bolster his rep and ego.
And then there is what it is actually worth - nothing more than anybody else's opinion or belief because he doesn't know anything, he just posts like he does. His ITK left the club when Cowans went, much to his chagrin, and he has always been adept at giving the impression he knew more than he really did. Like that fat bloke on the barstool who used to be in the TA but continually hints about his time in "The Regiment".
I'm of the opinion - see unlike some erstwhile and short-lived ITKs I'll use that word - that Narla is pretty much the best ITK on this or that forum. I'd pay some heed to Omariqy and Murphy as well but the good Doc will let Trent know what's going on at the same time as everyone else, via a tweet.

If Wagner is genuinely ruled out (if) I hope it will not be Bruce. Nothing to do with him being an ex - nose but because he is one of a dying breed of football dinosaur.
Rather take a punt on Dean Smith. At least the fans are more likely to be patient with him and give him time.
Sooner or later we will get a decent Coach/Manager. Law of averages says so!

ERRR .maybe we have f***d up if we wanted Bruce - as the derby position is now vacant. Sure he would prefer Villa over Derby - but now he has options ....

I have to say I'm troubled by the idea of Bruce. Like you, not because he is ex-filth manager but because I don't think he is the right manager for us. Dinosaur is probably a bit strong as he is still relatively current but were he a bottle of milk he'd be on the turn and I wouldn't want him for tomorrow morning's coffee.

Trotters wrote:If, as the local press would have us believe, Bruce is so good at getting promoted, why is he out of work? Why didn't Cardiff pick him?
LOL come on Trotter my friend that's not really fair is it? Firstly Cardiff sacked their manager after we sacked RDM. Secondly is he really gonna be excited about working with Vincent Tan? I thinks not. I'd personally love us to get Oscar Garcia, Murat Yakin or a Marco Silva etc but the truth is they'd be just as risky as the last three managers we've appointed. IF we get a guy who has four promotions on his CV, give him money and everything he needs to succeed and STILL it all falls apart for us then I'll be fully convinced that black magic has taken over the club, because it would really be unbelievable.
With some of these old school managers they often manage to do what it says on the tin. Pulis and Big Sam keep you up, McCarthy and Warnock can steady teams in the championship and get them moving towards the play-offs while Bruce is simply a promotion expert who, even when he gets you up, can keep you there for a few years at least (done it with the noses and hull). So we have to ask ourselves what do we want? Something exciting and unknown to us, or something that has a high chance of taking us back to where we want to be within two years minimum? I got for the latter tbh. If Xia really does have the resources we all hope he has a change could be made once we're back in the big time.

Joppe84 wrote:It won't be Clarke, that I'm sure of. Bruce would be a mistake imo, but we'll see. No doubting he's good at getting teams promoted. And then relegated again.
To be fair he kept Blues up for an extended period, kept Hull up for a few years and also got them to a cup final, kept Wigan up for a while and wasn't relegated with Sunderland either. Yes, he's been relegated twice but I'd suggest that's a small part of a big picture. When you pull back the curtain you have a manager who is a master at championship level and if given the right environment in the premiership is more than capable of surviving.
Rafa Benitez has been sacked FIVE TIMES during his career and forced to resign at another club too. Bruce has been sacked twice. Once at Huddersfield in the 90s and the other time at Sunderland. So it's not like the man has been a disaster for a large percentage of his career. Infact more often than not he's done well.

So if you're "sure" he'd choose us why try to stir the pot like that "transferTweet" idiot on twitter?
From what I hear Chris Powell is first choice for them by the looks of it. And if Bruce did rock up at Derby then so be it, we move on to the next target.

Still think it's going to be someone other than Bruce. If he really hasn't spoken with Round yet, then I think that speaks volumes.
Got a feeling that there's a big name (relative to a Championship club) that they're going for and SB, is a fallback option.

I didn't intend to stir the pot. (and don't believe I have) just updating that brucey may now have other options

John Percy is suggesting that Bruce to have a formal interview within the next few days HERE. And has suggested that backroom staff and transfer funds have already been discussed. Also says Steve Round intend to revamp the scouting network and Bruce may want a coach from Boro to join him.
Looks like it's all over bar the shouting tbh.

Hope so ! 4 promotions from this division - unemployed - and living local. You'd would think its pretty much done. However we know little of the thoughts or workings of XIA and Round. Somewhere I read that round is in charge restructuring the academy, as such will left to get on with that. My fear was his duties as technical director could dissapear if we appointed a robust manager who would run the show. Xia does have an element of 'off the wall' about him in my opinion. So we don't know when he sits down with Bruce what he will think. His spoken english isn't great from what little Ive heard - So I wonder if Wyness \ Round will ask most of the questions - and Tony mostly listens in.
I honestly think he is as good as we can get for where we are - sure he has his detractors - but Aston Villa has been run as joke for the last 5 or 6 years. Hopefully Bruce can stop the rot with some basic organisation and discipline. If he can get this team wining hopefully the momentum will build.
Personally I think the play offs is now a very tall order this season. Weve won 4 from 51 !!!!! - its going to be some turn around if we can string a whole host of back to back wins together....hers hoping...

Re: The next Villa Manager
Moxley also claiming that Bruce is the man HERE but the club has been approached by "high profile managers" over the last few days!!
I wonder who they could be?
Hoddle? Hodgson? Big Sam? Some European names maybe? Who knows. What's clear though is when Moxley and Percy speak it's usually spot on so I just hope Bruce has some staff up his sleeve who he can rely on so we don't have the same issues we had with the last three managers.

It doesn't need a massive turn around to get top six from our position. We're three wins and a draw away!!..and we've only got to catch the likes of Brentford and Bristol City. If that's beyond us then McGrath help this club.

Re: The next Villa Manager
I've just had a wander over to Small Heath Alliance.
Aside from the gloating at our position, 2 things stood out:
1. They've been using HIV as a guide to how Villa fans are feeling and have concluded that they're all a bunch of arrogant deluded dickhead sugarbags (can't imagine how the Villa hating, slum-dwelling, 12-toed, inbred freaks arrived at that )
2. They do not want us to sign Bruce. Interesting. Some comments....
The post about Crisis Management was interesting. Could it be that Bruce is about to be named and shamed by the Telegraph's exposè?

HIV? Never seen it before.
It's where the most deluded of vilers seem to fester
If they do appoint a Bruce, McCarthy or Warnock type figure they will definitely pick up and do well this season- the squad is too good not to.
I really hope its not Bruce, partly because what he did for us, partly because he could still get them up this season with that squad.
Brucie was in my mates PR agency on Thursday who specialise in Crisis Management... I'm hoping whatever the reason was will keep him away from the Villa
I hate those villa cvunts. We used to be the laughing stock in this city and now they've even take that from us.
I hope they don't get Bruce.
Bruce has been at the Villa u23 game tonight according to Twitter sources. Lump on before the morning!
Fat potato headed turncoat
Middle of the road manager Bruce, certainly no miracle worker, and I can't see that the bastards would have much patience with him. Another one that will end in tears
He hates us

Looks like it's going to be Bruce then. Apparently the rumours are that he wants Steve Agnew, to come in as his Assistant.
