If promotion is our goal, we have to start building from somewhere. This is a team that hasn't won a game in about 16 and over about 6 months.

Getting massively dicked by a 4th division side is going to screw with our already none existant confidence.

I' d rather we won some games, in whatever completion, so that the players and fans remember what it actually feels like, and then build from there.

So if Chester really is coming, a back four of Richards, Elphick, Chester and Amavi is a pretty good one.

And as backup we have Hutton, Okore, Baker and Cissokho

Just asked my mate who has a Boggies season ticket - he rates Chester and thinks he'll be our best defender in the championship.

That'll do then, 1 position solved assuming he comes in. Chester and Elphick with Okore and Baker as cover.

Everything I've seen and heard of Chester is really positive, I'll be pleased if this one comes off.

Richards has to go. We need a whole new mind set and mentality. Richards is the epitomy of a loser

The fact that he was given the captains band last night makes me question RDM's ability for the first time

I was going to ask if anyone thinks Richards could do a job as a DM if we don't get anyone like Jedinak but @Joppe84 is right...his mentality is all wrong. He treated the Luton game as a joke and it cost us.

Elphick was on the bench and could have come on for Baker but I'm sure RDM wanted to see what those players were made of. And Richards showed he's not worthy of the shirt let alone the armband.

I think the fact Elphick was oin the bench shows that RDM used this game to give some players there last chance to impress, we will see new signings coming in.

Joe bennett staying. Villa have cancelled deal apparently. Imo xia is pissed with what he saw and is acting fast. Still no new midfielder tho have we after what ge tweeted. Expected morrison to be done tbf

Hopefully RDM was giving some of them enough rope to hang themselves. Richards and the totally disinterested Okore willingly threw the noose around their necks. Get rid, their attitude is the exact opposite of the ethos that Dr T has said we're looking for. Plus Richards has the positional sense of a three year old. A three year old what? I'm open to suggestions.

I'm going to defend Richards' corner here. He's a RB and shouldn't be criticised for his performance at CB. Sure, he was shit, but so would Grealish, Ayew or anyone else be playing out of position. I too would have laughed at the absurdity of dropping the ball and having it given as a foul throw. I thought he looked good at RB for the first half, and in a properly structured back four, with a decent midfield in front of him, he's going to look good consistently. Amavi would have looked one hell of a lot better with Chester, or someone with similar experience and pedigree, next to him rather than Baker and Okore, each of whom were out of position for two of the goals.

We have bigger concerns than Richards right now. By all means, find a replacement once we've sorted out the midfield and Elphick's partner, but give him a run at RB with decent players around him and the problem will disappear.

Dr T said the midfielder would HOPEFULLY be sorted by saturday

I agree with this. Richards' mental issues would probably be less prevalent with Elphick organising him also

Up to Richards position move last night I remember thinking not "he's even worse than I expected" but actually "he's better than I expected". Problem is my expectations were not that high to start with.  Given that we aren't likely to be able to replace 6 players at once (oh if only we could), I'd keep him at RB until we buy another and then not let a nanosecond pass before we get rid of him out of the club forever.  He's the lesser of the evils at RB currently but feck me we really do have some evils!

So gregg evans doesnt expect morrison to happen.

I'd rather see cissokho go. I thought Bennett had a reasonable pre-season and offers a good bit more than cissokho in terms of attack. I was surprised they were prepared to let him go to Wednesday to be honest, think Xia has done the right thing in pulling the plug. It's refreshing to see an owner this proactive with the club and so obviously pissed off with performances.

Cancelling Bennet to Wednesday is clever and i'm glad he is staying and should play ahead of Cissokho and Amavi for now and is Championship experienced, if i was a player playing last night for us i would be worried cos Dr Xia and RDM ain't pissing about are they and rightly so!

Chester and Elphick with Bennet and either a new RB or maybe Richards and Bacuna for RB still i would like a new RB tbh.

We really need to get players signed

I think Bennett is likely to be seen as a better option than Cissokho as backup to Amavi.

LOL i know what you meant mate but looking at Amavi last night sorry he is a million miles off being a starter then we would have Cissokho who did ok ish against Wednesday still he wasn't great and with so many signings needed Bennett will do us a job, plus Wednesday want him showing he ain't that bad, after last night it feels like he is Roberto Carlos

The Sun saying De Laet Chester and Jedinak signing for us

De Laet plays at RB, Richards is (allegedly) on £70k per week. I can see some logic here.
