Who Will be the Next Villa Manager

Manager update on the way. Getting closer now after a breakthrough today. #avfc more @birminghammail shortly.
Not sure how there could of been a breakthrough today, when Xia yesterday said he hadn't announced the manager as advised by the board, so presumably he is already in place?

Di Matteo has a good track record wherever he's been, can't really complain. I suspect given the right backing financially, he'll have us fighting for promotion and playing good attacking football. I'm interested to see what other appointments we make, if Xia takes over.

I think for phase 1 of our rebuild starting as a championship club Di matteo is a good choice. He knows whats required to get out the league, he buys well and he will be backed by tony to do so and I think he'll build a good united squad. If hes the man lets all back him 100% and embrace this new chapter in our amazing history. UTV!!!

Anyone who declares that they're not supporting the team based on the fact they don't rate a manager who has gotten a team promoted to the premiership, won the champions league, and beaten Real Madrid in Spain, politely fuck off.
When we are winning games and in the promotion places don't come back. You aren't fucking welcome.

1.season MK Dons-3.place (lost promotion after missing penalty in extra time in play off finale)
1.season WBA 2.place and promotion
1.season Chelsea CL winner
1.season Schalke 04 6. place (after starting in 11.place)
1. season Villa after spending 50 mill ?????
RDM is winner and and best we could get in our situation. For f*** sake he has 50% win ratio managing 4 teams in 2 different countries since 2008. In those 7-8 years he has won FA Cup, CL, and promoted WBA in first season... What do you want more? We were one of the worst teams in the PL history and in need to start all over. Somehow RDM by a miracle takes the job and our response is "meh"...

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Poor appointment. Comparable to Garde over Allardyce.
Sure he has a fine CV - But he has nearly has always worked under a DOF either by name (someone else finds the players). I also don't think he will prove a strong enough personality in the dressing room.
Let the excuse making commence.

What's happened to the Comoli rumour? wasn't he supposed to be coming with RDM?
To compare RDM over Pearson to Garde over Allardyce is actually quite funny

Seem to remember people saying the same when Allardyce went to Sunderland - who's laughing now ?

The twat on twitter is at it again HERE
LOL I just laugh at the baby spitting his dummy out!! .
On a serious note I honestly think that some fans just cannot get past us not having a "British" manager. So they display their prejudice with deluded bollocks as seen above.
Preferring Pearson over RDM is like favouring a Mini over an Aston Martin. It's stupid and lacks logic imo and I'm glad Xia and co agree.

Some people are just miserable sugarbags & would moan if we had Pep with simione as his assistant.
I'm more than happy with this appointment much better than the dross we've had recently.

Well Pearson looks Derby bound, so we shall see next season (oooh no RDM had a much tougher task )
Since 2012 he's done Half a season at Chelsea and Half a season at Schalke - lets hope he manages a full season next year.
I wonder why he wasn't on the list produced by Bernstein\Little\King - who came to Aston Villa, seen the problems, and reported them back - yeah but what do they know ?

I wanted Allardyce instead of unproven Garde, would of made much more sense.
However, things are very different now and we don't want to enter a bright new future led by a dinosaur now do we?
Think about this, if we do have £50m to spend, who is most likely to attract the better calibre of player?

He went to Sunderland before Tim was sacked though so what has that got to do with us?

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
People point to RDM not having longevity at clubs then call for Pearson.
Di Matteo has managed 210 matches at 4 clubs. Pearson has managed 397 at 5 clubs. The thing is if you take away his time at Leicester then Pearson has zero longevity. He's managed 108 games across 3 other teams and been sacked from them all. Lambert was great at 1 club too

True. But Sherwood was already a dead man walking. I put that one down to the shortcomings of Tom Fox.
I m glad you're pleased with RDM. I do have concerns however with base if he is starting from, can he really stamp his authority on the club ? - re organise from top to bottom on and off the field ? - thats why I have my doubts. His record is pretty decent by as he ever walked into such an environment as he no faces ? - I don't think he has.
If he get the results - then great. If he doesn't he should be accountable, no excuses. Its a tough division next year - but equally were a giant in the league - I can't have us giving Roberto 'time', if were 13th/14th come Christmas time.

His job will start and end with the first team. He won't be re-organising the club top to bottom, it's not 1984!!

NOT TRUE. He done a full season in Germany actually which is 33 games in the league, plus European and domestic cup competitions. As for the FA rejects!!..of course they were gonna go for an "English" manager. Because that's all they know. The new guard have come in though and they have a different opinion and have gone for a man with a record better than the majority of managers that has ever managed this great club. You might not like it but it is what it is .

Yeah - but if you take away RDM time at Chelsea he hasn't won anything.
If he keep winning games he will here a while - so its all academic. He's fully aware of what he is walking into - and the stated target (Per XIA) is promotion in the first season. He should be judged on that - no excuses.

Even if you take away his time at Chelsea his win ratio is
MK Dons= 51%
West Brom= 48%
Schalke= 42%
So he has a win ratio of over 40% at all of those clubs where he hasn't world class talent all over the pitch.
