Managers, who would we want?

It's not so long ago that I felt the same way as Dan does. Now I agree with Eastie. If he was given a truckload of cash, would he spend it?

I am torn on Lambert more than I have been on any other Villa manager. I have willed him to succeed and find it hard to let go of that feel-good vibe he helped create when he arrived after McLeish. I feel that a lot of our problems are not of his making.

But then, I just look at how dreadfully laboured we have been through games with the likes of (no disrespect to them) Cardiff and Sunderland home and away, and how dreadful we were against Fulham, Stoke (x2), Palace and West Ham and wonder if he has what it takes. He hasn't made enough progress. We are wildly inconsistent, lacking discipline and a spine. We never seem to be consistent even within the same game.

the whole fanbase really wanted this project to work, but is it? The table would suggest it isn't.

It's not a project it's Aston Villa.

That reads a bit harsher than I intended, sorry. I am fed up with football being a product.

I know, there has been a tendency to refer to Lambert's side as a long-term project. This time last year I would have strongly argued that it needed time to develop, but I really feel we have gone backwards this year.

But for a couple of smash and grabs in the first part of the season we would be utterly fucked.That's not what I expected after we ended last season strongly.

If it was one step forward, two steps back, you'd know what to expect.

The utter inconsistency of this side is stunning. We go into game with the potential to win 4-1 as much as lose 4-1. We can pass is about brilliantly or we can just play HOOF. Benteke can either be the best player in Europe or be a passenger.

The only truly consistent thing this season has been Weimann's poor performances. I was a big fan but it's at the stage now (it was at the stage a long long time ago) that he needed to be taken out of the firing line for a long spell.

Well if the takeover occurs we should get Pep in, or Klopp, or maybe Deschamps, Simeone or Bielsa. I wouldn't be opposed to Klinsmann or Pochettino either.

...and a no to Moyes, if he can't handle Yernited, how's he gonna handle Villa ?

Laudrup, moyes, koeman , would be the sort of names I'd expect on a shortlist - some people feel klopp would be an option but I can't see him coming here unless he had huge money available to him - certainly I wouldn't be looking at up and coming British managers at this moment in time.

If we get taken over in the summer i'll donate £100 to this site. It wont happen

Look, id be elated to be wrong and essentially i cant lose because i can afford to lose £100 and it would be money well spent on here. However, the cynic in me says this aint happening....
