Bielsa's gone to Marseille. I really think we should scour Europe for a new saviour though. The names floating around (particularly in the odds table) are hugely uninspiring to me (Wise/Hoddle/MEGSON-really?), barring Benitez who would have no intention of coming imo. For me, other European leagues are the tactical pioneers, also a few steps ahead of the PL, and so we need to look there for once.
Thomas Tuchel would be my first choice. He took over Mainz a year after Klopp left, and really evolved the sophisticated pressing/transition game even further, yielding great results with a decent (but far from amazing) squad. He just left Mainz last week.
Francesco Guidolin is another who I think we should consider. Before this season, he led a shoe-string budget Udinese side to 4th, 3rd, and 5th in a very competitive Serie A. He has also said he will consider his future this summer.
Paco Jemez of Rayo Vallecano is a tactical master, emphasizing possession in the opponent's half at all times. He guided Vallecano to their highest ever finish last season, and had them surging up the table by the end of this season also. He's still in his early 40s also so could be at our helm for years to come.
Some other coaches I'd snatch your arm off for:
Giampiero Ventura-Torino (though he's getting on a bit)
Roberto Donadoni-Parma
Andrea Mandorlini-Verona
Christoph Galtier-Saint Etienne
Remi Garde-Just left Lyon
Christian Gourcuff-Lorient
Claudio Ranieri-Monaco
Lucien Favre-Borussia Monchengladbach
Markus Weinzierl-Augsburg
Markus Gisdol-Hoffenheim
Christian Streich-Freiburg
And finally a more unrealistic list in the case of a bigger than expected takeover!
Marcelino-Villarreal
Luis Enrique-Celta Vigo (Prob Barca bound)
Roberto Mancini-Galatasaray (Prob getting his P45)
Mircea Lucescu (Shakhtar Donetsk)
Dieter Hecking-Wolfsburg

I couldn't disagree more I think Moyes would be perfect for us. The guy will come with a fire to prove people wrong he would make us solid not the most attractive football but its the result that matters. I think there would be no danger in us being in a scrap with him managing the team.
In regards to other managers mentioned here, I think the expectation needs to be lowered just a tad. Mansour took over Man City and Mark Hughes was their manager. A solid base needs built first then improved upon, I think Moyes could be that base.

Hi all.
Once again, sorry for the minor glitch earlier. But there was a good reason.
If you could, please take a minute to read this. I hope you understand our reasons and, should you have any feedback, it'll be gratefully received - this is, after all, your website.

Re: Managers, who would we want?
Interesting that the Birmingham Mail (or Kendrick on Twitter) haven't published the story of Lambert staying for now....maybe they're holding off to have first digs at publishing something bigger?
Not hoping against hope but a lack of article from them does seem conspicuous by its absence..?

To quote on my own post further, I would be shocked if Kendrick published his article last week slating PL without knowing for a fact that he's (eventually) a goner?

Re: Managers, who would we want?
Agree with the post about Kendrick. Local newspapers would be very reluctant to effectively burn their bridges with the management of the club unless they had no choice.
As far as a new man goes, there are two questions for me.
1. Who is an improvement on the current manager
2. Is he the best man available
The ambition of a new owner will determine whether we need to pay any attention to no. 2.
The answer to no. 1 is probably 'anyone.'
