Will we be up for it?
Re: ASTON VILLA Vs BURNLEY : Sunday 24th 3:00pm.
As MOMS said earlier, Sherwood didn't bother with a defence today. I wonder how well that will work against Arsenal? I'm still happy with Sherwood, I just worry about one or two recent decisions...

Isn't Jed Steer cup tied from when he was with Yeovil so who will be the sub goalie next week? Also what was the point in bringing Robinson back he could've had a day out at Wembley today he was a part of Preston getting there. Finally where's Cissoko & Senderos gone to, not injured anymore are they?

We'll be down next year if Benteke goes and Sherwood stays. One of the two can probably happen and we'll be OK, but if both occur, we're good as gone. Now that the new manager bump's worn off, Sherwood's been exposed these past few weeks for the dim manager many feared him to be.
Glad he kept us up. The last guy wouldn't have, so job done. But to think Sherwood's the best we can have to move us forward again right now is laughable.

I think Sherwood is clever enough not to show his hand to Arsene Wenger in our final two games when we were already safe. He was the mastermind behind us outplaying Man City, Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool don't forget.
We won't be playing the high line we played against Southampton. We won't be playing N'Zogbia at left back. We will be competitive and we will be better next season. If come next May we are in the same position as now then that will be time to question him. Not now after saving us from inevitable relegation!

I am concerned of late, I can only hope he gets the positions we need in quickly and we should be better for next season, Sherwood came out with a statement of playing players in position, now I understand he has had injuries but surely Cissokho and Lowton are better options to play as a fullback than N'Zogbia that is just suicide for all of Bacuna's endeavour he is defensively clumsy and puts other players off their game. Lowton and Hutton would of been stronger surely.

Or, alternatively, the players are dog tired and have adopted a losing mentality again. Potential for very public humiliation next week.

Burnley have beaten all the top sides this season.
Plus, last game of season, Burnley up for it, Villa looking ahead to the Cup final - don't want to get injured in this encounter.
Villa Park is a famous old ground. The Burnley players were probably feeling they'd make the most of the occasion and enjoy themselves because they're not going to be back in the Premier League next year.
At least we didn't accidentally field Aston Villa ladies like Liverpool fielded their ladies IX against Stoke. That got them a 6-1 beating* so at least there is some reason to watch MOTD tonight.
*Actually, Liverpool ladies would probably not have been beaten 6-1 by Stoke.
That said, even if we play very well we could get hammered by Arsenal in the final. They have the players to score lots of goals and don't forget we have players missing from our defence through injury.

How quickly things change! Sherwood has been outstanding for Villa. Yes today wasnt a good result but then what difference does it make? Yes Sherwood is an attacking manager and with that you have to expect every now and then to be beaten. I happens. Move on with the FA cup final. Its somewhat embarrassing that people are calling for his head.

Sherwood has done a really good job for Villa in the short time he's been here. I would rather he played Guzan and a fit again Cissokho in his 1st eleven, but he's the manager and I can definitely see what he's trying to do.
If I was the manager we'd be heading for the conference, but it doesn't stop me having opinions.

Sherwood must be dogshit. I mean it's not like he's taken a bottom 3 team and beaten Albion twice in a week, Spurs at WHL, Everton, West Ham, and Liverpool at Wembley. Plus matching the outgoing champions at their own ground.
Oh and he got us safe with a game to spare and an FA Cup final. What a shit manager.
Clowns.

good as that is - TS has only averaged just over a point a game in his time with us. weve lost at home to stoke, swansea, and burnley.
I like TS - he seems to talk a lot sense when he speaks. If i am honest though i won't be totally surprised if hes gone by Christmas.

Well our form over the last 3 games is the 11th best - 3 wins and 3 loses. I'd take that form across a season all day long!

Re: ASTON VILLA Vs BURNLEY : Sunday 24th 3:00pm.
Under Sherwood we've averaged 1.23 points per game (16 points in 13 league games) spread over the course of a season that would be ~47 points, which would of had us level on points with Everton and West Ham but finishing 13th on goal difference (having scored 56 and conceded 67 if his current averages keep up) and 2 points off breaking into the top 10. Assuming nothing changes I would be happy with 13th and a good cup run from Sherwood's first full season in charge.

I would be happy if we didn't have a relegation thread next season. Lerner has certainly succeeded in reducing my expectations.

Even if you consider he's gotten us 16 points from his 13 league games in charge, that averages to 48 points a season. With this squad.

I meant last 6 games, adding the 3wins and 3 loses together would've probably given that away

Re: ASTON VILLA Vs BURNLEY : Sunday 24th 3:00pm.
I don't understand how anybody can be unhappy with the job that he's done? Stops certain relegation with potentially the worst ever points total and goal total and gets us to a cup final. People are saying we shouldn't celebrate survival but from the situation we were in that's exactly what we should be doing! At the start of the season surviving shouldn't be an aspiration but when you're in the bottom 3 with 3 months to go then survival should be celebrated.
He's taken a team that couldn't move, pass or score and turned them into a team that people actually want to go and watch again! If that's not worth giving him a chance then I don't understand what you want from a manager.
