Match Thread: Aston Villa vs Burnley 28/09/19
Not even sure if there's a need for these anymore but......
I fancy us today, Hourihane starts which is good to see, with Nakamba getting more time in the starting lineup too.
Happy enough to see Jota and Trezeguet on the bench as they can both make an impact later on, as can Luiz to shore things up.
My guess is 2-1 today, Burnley to go ahead and for us fans to lose our shit before a resolute comeback.
Edit: Goals from McGinn and Hourihane, with Wesley continuing to cut a frustrated figure.

1-0 at the break, a very strong half for Villa. McGinn is one of the finest players to ever pull our shirt on but everyone playing their part so far.
Well, much as it pains me to say it, everyone except Wesley who just cannot find his fit in these games so far. Keep the faith big man, it'll come good for you!

Your prediction was nearly right.
Why was there 7 minutes of injury time? Were Burnley, who got 4 yellows, hacking us up sideways?

You could be right, I deliberately didnt start the thread to see what happens, and only 3 posts, to me it seems the site is/has died as there is so little imput now, there used to be some really good banter on here but not now, But as to the game in the end it was a disappointing outcome after playing so well in the first half, I'm still confident we will come good soon, UTV

Barnes got a yellow early for attitude towards the ref, put in a couple of fouls too so was skating on thin ice a bit. Rodriguez made a wreckless challenge on Grealish and was lucky to get away with a yellow. Can't remember what the other two were for.
7mins added time due to a number of breaks in play with Targett and Mings particularly on the deck for a while and a head injury to Big Wes.
A frustrating game, we looked excellent in the first half and struggled in the second and for them to equalise whilst we were in the euphoria of going ahead for the second time was ridiculous.
The good thing is if we get a win we could be hoisted nearly halfway up the table. The annoying thing is we can't seem to get a win!

Very disappointed with the way the season's gone so far, one win in seven is very worrying, especially given the fixtures we've had. Need to improve fast if we're to have any hope of staying in the division, or dare I say it if Smith wants to keep his job because unfortunately if it goes on like this there will come a point where the owners will just think that enough is enough.

We seemed to suffer greatly when we lost Targett yesterday, didn't realise it before as he doesn't strike me as a player to think much of but I feel that was the turning point. Taylor's race is run for us, but I'm just not confident Targett can keep himself fit and able. Additional LB cover in January is a must along with a forward or two.

Indeed, sad times. So where to Villa fans go if not here then? I've never even looked at an alternative forum (I'm a faithful kinda guy!) and I'm not interested in jumping ship now. To be honest, if this place just closed I wouldn't even bother then I don't think, I'd probably go back to being a fan on my lonesome I think! It's a shame as despite some of the bickering along the way, I've enjoyed the community on here.

Yep me too, the banter in earlier times was awsome, such a shame if it goes pear shaped, the old adage applies use it or loose it. UTV

Re: Match Thread: Aston Villa vs Burnley 28/09/19
This forum has always been quiet except when there's a rumoured takeover, and even then when Sawiris and Edens bought us it was relatively quiet compared to how it was when Lerner was trying to sell the club... I think during that time I almost became an expert on US billionaires the amount of rumours that were flying around... Micky Arison... Larry Ellison... The Texas Rangers owners, and so on... And then there was the 'ITK' posters, I remember one called dinkleman or something, who was insisting that we were going be bought by someone who was going to set up feeder clubs across the globe all under the Aston VIlla name... To be fair to him/her that's what Xia ended up proposing.
Maybe once we get going in the Premier a few might start coming back.

To be honest the reason I stopped using the forum for a while was because we were winning matches and I'm a superstitious sod when it comes to the Villa. Now we're back to old ways it doesn't seem to matter if I post or not. It might be that when we're winning there's not much room for discussion as well.
On a football note we desperately need some points from our next two as things start to look very dangerous after that. The Newcastle game could end up being a big one.

Agree we need to start winning games need the points , you can see that we are playing better, but not for the 90 minutes, this is a concern, the last game great first half, but very slow in getting into the game. Well onwards and upwards. UTV

I'm not convinced Grealish is the right person for the armband - not scapegoating him, I just don't see a lot of influence from him on the pitch. He influences how the game is played sure and the ball moves through him a lot but he doesn't appear to have that shepherding quality that I personally like to see in a captain - someone to rally the troops around 70mins and get them to see the game out. Mings seems like an obvious alternative.
