And with Fabian as a first name he's an absolute shoe in for the Newcastle team. They can have N'Zogbia too if they want...

N'Zogbia (A.K.A Insomnia) might be more likely now that Kinnear has left them. '

You wonder just who's going to take so much of the dross of us.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
At least we won't have the problems we had with some of the dreck O'Neill saddled us with. We were stuck with some right overpaid wasters who were so overpaid other clubs didn't want them. Lambert's bargain basement buys are lowly enough paid we won't have too much trouble finding lower level clubs willing to take them on and won't be too bothered if we get stuck with them on the wage bill.
There's also the fact that having a premiership club like us on a player's CV makes them a bit more interesting to other clubs.

Ferdinand leaving United. Anyone tempted?
I'm not, think his legs have gone.

No thanks but if you are looking for experience there are also Ashley cole, Lampard and several others with plenty of premier league games under their belts.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Just been reading the Express and Star online. Bent is back at Villa from Fulham. That's 60,000 quid a week going down the drain, alongside 40,000 for Hutton and 60,000 quid for Nzogbia.
Surely this has to be sorted and quickly.

I really hope this take over goes ahead, and we start spending on serious talent/experienced players or i feel next season we will be down by xmas.
I think we need to spend a minimum of 40-50 million in the summer, as all others will be doing it.

I agree. I am too scared to think of the consequences of Lerner still being here on 1 September

We've signed someone!
Source: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/9315766/transfer-news-aston-villa-sign-young-midfielder-anes-omerovic-from-aka-vorarlberg
A DM who's scored 5 in 12 in the Austrian U16 league, as well as making 10 International appearances this season
Aston Villa have signed young midfielder Anes Omerovic from Austrian side AKA Vorarlberg.
The 15-year-old has penned a three-year deal at Villa Park and will initially become a part of the club's youth set-up.
Omerovic is an Austria Under-16s international despite having Bosnian roots and he can operate in a defensive midfield role.
The youngster says that playing English football will meet one of his all-time ambitions as he prepares for the move to the Midlands.
"It was always my dream to play in England," he told Laola1.at.
"The fact that I'm now going there is just sensational and gorgeous of course."

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Personally at this juncture my wish list would be along these lines in order of preference;
New owner;
1, Phillip Anshutz as I feel he has the correct know how and financial clout to lead us in the right direction.
2, Larry Ellison purely due to his money and he is a serial winner.
3, Mystery Saudi's if they have the City type backing.
4, Simpson and Davies as they seem to have the correct know how to make us successful.
5, Red Bull lastly as although they clearly have financial clout they have made formula 1 more competitive so would probably make us also.
New manager;
1, Jurgen Klinsmann
2, Hakan Yakin
3, No idea but will give anyone a chance if backed correctly.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
The Mirror
Manchester City's James Milner 'to seek transfer after the World Cup'
James Milner is set to quit Manchester City after the World Cup in Brazil, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
The 28-year-old City midfielder has become disillusioned under Manuel Pellegrini and is ready to look for a fresh challenge even though he’s just won a second Premier League title medal in three seasons.
Despite appearing in 31 of City’s 38 League games, Milner started only 17.
Milner, a £20million signing from Aston Villa in 2010, was annoyed at being substituted after an hour in the penultimate game of the season against Villa against Villa and deeply frustrated that he played only the last 14 minutes of the title-clinching win over West Ham a week ago.
The Yorkshire-born star wants a regular first team place – and that’s alerted Everton, Arsenal, Spurs and his former club Newcastle.
Milner, one of just a handful of senior English players at City, has been included in Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
With Joleon Lescott and Gareth Barry, who spent last season on loan at Everton, leaving the club this summer, City cannot afford to lose another English star with their quota of ‘home-grown’ players dangerously low.
But Milner seems determined to seek a new start, even though it means leaving the champions and taking a hit on his £90,000-a-week salary.
Milner recently admitted his bit-part role at City under Etihad boss Pellegrini has been frustrating.
He said: “It’s an ongoing question whether I am better staying off at a club like City and playing big games in big competitions or playing more regularly somewhere else.”
Now it seems Milner has the answer to his dilemma.
He is expected to review his options when he returns from the World Cup.

I'd Love him back, and looking back its sad that we just couldnt keep him, barry, young and downing for when we added Bent.
Wasnt there a rumour that he didnt want to go, but lerner couldnt turn down the offer, i truely believe he had found his best position with us, when we stuck him in CM.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Would anyone else take the city 'cast offs' Barry, lescott, Richards, Milner. Would be a great spine for us with vlaar guzan and benteke.
Also being reported bent is off to Newcastle

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Not for me Milner.
Regardless of who takes over, with whatever money we have then i would go young players.McCarthy and Barkley kind of players.
Rodwell might be an option.

I agree with your lists here. I would also throw De Boer in as my third choice manager.

Transfer targets:
Adel Taraabt
Koke
Hamsik
Milner
Ben Arfa
Belhanda
Kiyoto
Some names others have thrown up like Shaw, Barkley and Llanna are unlikey.

Kiyotake?
Lallana
Sorry to be That Guy.
- Regardless of the type of take over we have the likes of Koke and Hamsik are unlikely this summer, they wouldn't come here, even if the the money was a few bajillion we would need to already be contenders to bring them in.
- Belhanda has only had one season at Dynamo Kyiv. Can't see them allowing him to leave just yet either.
- Milner too, think he will end up staying put at Man City. He has been in great form for them. He may want to leave, think he'll go to Liverpool or potentially Spurs. Again, think he is too good for us this summer, regardless of the wealth a takeover may bring.
- Ben Arfa, not sure. Maybe, but think he will likely end up at Monaco or PSG. But I don't think he's particularly good enough to fulfill what either of those clubs are chasing.
- Taraabt? No thanks. Exactly the type of player I wouldn't want, lazy and a poor attitude
