Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
I think we could sign the best eleven from the World Cup yet we'd fail because Lambert doesn't seem to be able to get professional football players to pass to each to other and/or move.
Even my 9 year old noticed that just about every pass Delph made against Houston was either sideways or backwards as he had no-one moving in front of him to receive the ball.
It's like they've been trained to run away from it and expect the hoof.

Agreed, I've always thought we've struggled with the basics of ball retention & movement for a very long time; even under O'Neill we never looked totally comfortable in possession

I hope this is not a sign that the stubborn fool has not yet accepted that his tactics are part of the reason we are shit, otherwise he is in for a lot of stick early on, and then it will be the fans fault

That sounds about right, as Lambert is a Scottish bloke he will be stubborn so he's going to get stick for his non changed tactics.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Then the well oiled AVFC public information service will spring into action on how the fans should be patient, a new plan is in place, Lambert is the second coming of Shanks, and we should accept our place in the table of nothingness and mediocrity.
Great, looking forward to it already... :pale:

I've been saying that about Delph for months and months! No point saying he runs around a lot because to win we have to get the ball to the other end of the pitch and he doesn't help us do that. Waste of a shirt that we could be getting GG in!

How is it Delph's fault no one moves for a pass? Can't see how GG (as much as I rate him) would solve this?

They dont move because they are told to hold their position. There is so much pressure in trying to keep us up to facilitate a sale. Lamberts scared of losing, simple as.

Westwood and KEA managed to find forward passes last season but every time Delph gets the ball in midfield any attack is over and we go backwards, Any chance of a counter is lost ... we go back to Guzan, kick it long and everybody moans. Ask yourself why it went back to Guzan and if you rewind the answer is often Delph

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Westwood and KEA's forward passes are to Delph - the last forward player in the midfield. Beyond him lie dragons, the end of the world, black holes, etc. Certainly no football players.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread
Hey guys! First time posting in a while, been pretty downbeat about everything in general and decided to stay away....every cloud and all that. Well tonight my depression radar bleeped again when I saw this. Maybe lazy journalism, definitely quotes from the man himself....
