Boro away match thread.
Will be an interesting game. We've seen how we can tear teams apart that can't defend but how will handle a disciplined team who shut up shop. I fear grealish and mcginn will be in for some rough treatment as well.
Quite a few youngsters have travelled as well and the most interesting is Dominic revan, a young centre back who has been selected ahead of Jacob bedeau who played for the u23s yesterday.
I can see a nervy 1-1

Not feeling all that confident for this one... A win would do us wonders though... I expect Elmohamady will come in for Hutton, and possibly Whelan for Hourihane... Nyland will probably keep his place because of a lack of a decent alternative, hopefully he's determined to have the game of his life to prove everyone wrong.

El Ghazi and Elmohamady come in for Kodjia and Hutton... Revan on the bench, he's right footed and normally a central defender, but I've seen him perform well as a left-back for the u23s, so I expect he's there primarily to deputy for Taylor.

Results have completely and utterly gone against us today. Normally a draw away to Middlesbrough wouldn't be a bad result, but we need a win just to get back to where we were at the start of the day.

Tough game? true but these are the games that make the difference, we can't be so free at the back as we were on Wednesday, can we? I'm going with a tight one nil to us.

Half time and we look good value for the one goal lead, should have had a pen too, more in the second half boys.

Half time. I bloody love Dean Smith. Almost as much as I didn't love Bruce.

Excellent first half, we are actually becoming good to watch, we will need another though, our keeper fills me with dread

Still feel like we might need a few more goals to win the game. Middlesbrough will come out all guns blazing.

2-0, great display, the opposition are filled with giants so our manager tells us to cross low & hard, great stuff

This has been a solid professional performance all over the pitch, the coaches have done a great tactical job too, El Garzi has been my stand out performer he has done himself no harm at all. UTV

I know Bruce is history but,any Chairman thinking of giving him a ago must seriously wonder after seeing what a proper Coach and his staff have done with the same group of players.Frightening how good we might be after Dean has had a transfer window.

I'm certain the goalie tipped it onto the post, which goes down in my book as a superb save.
Great stuff from our lot today.

Excellent win and performance... Felt good to keep a clean sheet as well after Wednesday... Since Smith came in, we've actually kept a clean sheet in half of the games, today was our fourth in eight games.

Rightback will be an interesting call for the Baggies game, felt we held our shape a lot better with Elmo

I’d say we can afford to have a more conservative, solid back 4 because of the talents in front of them. We’ve more than enough magic from the midfield up to score goals and win games. It’s a great problem for a manager to have.

Another great performance at one of the favorites for automatic promotion! Considering Boro had only conceded 10 goals all season to get 3 at their place was terrific! The revolution is under way!
A little worried with the rumours that Chelski want Abraham back in January but I think they will go for a big name instead! Fingers crossed?

Re: Boro away match thread.
Another thing to remember with Abraham, is that Chelsea could recall him in order to sell him to another club, if someone offers a big enough fee for him, which could happen given his form for us, and clubs being desperate for a goal scorer in Jan... I guess we've got to hope that they've got no intention of selling him, or recalling him. Looking at the table only Arsenal and Man City have scored more than them, although I don't think many of their goals are coming from their strikers, but you'd think if they wanted another goal scorer they'd go and buy someone proven in one of the top leagues.

Re: Boro away match thread.
The rumours they want him back seem to be news aggregator websites publishing stories made up for page clicks on Chelsea fans on forums saying their strikers are shit and how they must recall him immediately so they can score goals. Frankly a lot of of Abraham's success is coming from having some excellent Villa players around him, a manager with proper attacking tactics, being a very fine striker in form who's going to go on to great things in the PL and playing in the Championship against Championship defences and goalies. We don't even know if Chelsea have a January release clause. I'd be amazed if they took him back just to sell him (and I would imagine we'd be first in the queue to buy?) and I'd be surprised if they wanted to take him out of a very good placement just to stick him on their bench. He's still young, is he ready for the PL? Probably, but do they have a history of recalling any of their 30+ youth players they have on loan at league clubs?

Re: Boro away match thread.
They recalled Nathan Ake back from his loan with Bournemouth last season, but beyond that I'm not sure. Chelsea also have Batshuayi out on loan who they can recall, and are being linked with Icardi and Depay.

I thought that the loan deals that Bruce worked on for this season were season long with a view to sign if we managed to get promotion

Re: Boro away match thread.
El Ghazi and Moreira loans reportedly had options to buy, but no mention of any such clause in the Bolasie, Abraham or Tuanzebe deals.
I don't think United are interested in selling Tuanzebe as they really rate him, not sure about Chelsea with Abraham, but if they do decide to sell, then there will be a lot of takers, and it will cost big money to buy him, they turned down £25m from Tottenham on deadline day.
