Just saw that Traore scored 2 for Boro against Reading.
Then checked and Reading played Bacuna at LB! Makes sense

Well as frustrating as last week was for us, I never thought that all the teams in the play offs and auto promotion except for wolves would draw this week. We need no incentive whatsoever to beat the scum tomorrow but if we did it has to be the prize of moving into second place that should push us to really go for it.

That is quite unbelievable, they were 3 - 0 down after just 37 minutes as well.
I thought only Villa 'used' to do those stupid things!

I’m looking forward to seeing how Derby and Cardiff respond to seeing Villa move past them for the first time. Cardiff appear to have steadied a little from what appeared a wobble a few games back, Derby we’ve yet to see have any sort of blip of note. Can both those clubs go the entirety of the season evading a run of 4 or 5 games that returns only 5 or so points? I’m hoping not. I’m hoping that losing someone like Winnal might just knock Derby off their stride enough to allow us to open a 6+ Pts gap over the coming 4 or so games.

We're still in second place with Derby loosing Cardiff as you would expect won at home, its in our hands when we play them both to put some distance between us, both will be 6 point games. The only answer is WIN.

It's probably asking too much, but I really hope that we've already got second place secured by the time we play Derby in the penultimate game of the season.
A lot of people seem to be discounting Cardiff, but their form worries me, unlike Bristol City and Sheffield United, who have both fallen away after difficult periods, they've bounced back, and are now showing similar form to that which got them challenging in the first place, having not lost any of the previous five games, gaining fifteen points in the process.

Yep - Cardiff look sustainable. Bristol City never did - and Derby have started scrapping draws where wins were expected.

It's funny to hear how doom-and-gloom a lot of Derby fans have become already (given my location I get to hear a lot!). Serves them right for betting on Blues on Sunday

I also hear a fair bit off Derby fans being in Burton,
Overheard them talking about Derby's loss earlier at work and one said... "yeah, now watch flipping Villa win on Saturday at Fulham"
I hope he's correct of course

Well it's matchday 33 part 2 tonight.
The fixtures are:
Bristol City v Fulham
Derby v Leeds
Ipswich v Cardiff
Wolves v 10 man Norwich (likely)
All at 19.45 kick off.
Be very interesting to see how these pan out.

I honestly think play-offs (and no further) is the ceiling for Derby, considering they've been well-regarded all season and got some good results, they just don't look like they've got another gear - compared with us, I think we've got more to give. Sure we've been grinding the gears a bit but I really don't feel we've hit our limit.

Well it was almost as good as we could have hoped other than Cardiff - the one team that we didn't want to win. In fact they must be pinching themselves as every other team in the top 7 drew - wonder what odds you'd have got on that?!

Re: Championship rivals thread 2017/18
We have to play Cardiff of course at VP... But who on here fancies us to win that?
That could actually be the season defining game the way it's looking.
I thought that was a poor result for Derby as Leeds were abysmal defensively. I hope they defend like that at ours later in the season. Good to see Fulham not winning too.
So i think that leaves 13 games? We already need two of those to go our way to get ahead of Cardiff so effectively we have 39 points to play for and we need to get 5 more than Cardiff so it's getting towards squeaky bum time especially with us going to Sheffield without Grealish & Adomah again by the looks. We simply have to win there and with what i saw on Tues that's a big ask.

Cardiff won't go unbeaten until the end of the season. It's on us to capitalise when they drop points and then to beat them at VP.
If we can get Grealish and Adomah back sooner rather than later I fancy us to be going into the Cardiff game either level on points with them or a point either way. So I make that game a season decider.
As for Derby, they've got to play Fulham, Cardiff and Wolves before coming to VP. That's some BIG games for them and, depending on results elsewhere, they could be out of the race for 2nd by the time they play us.

Re: Championship rivals thread 2017/18
Its funny cos i honestly thought Cardiff would fall away cos thats often the case with Warnock teams - once they start to kose regularly he spits his dummy out and fecks off or is fecked off.
I agree with @Villa_Dan in that there's many a twist and turn still left but we've now dropped 4 points in 6, we have to get back to winning ways soon or whatever anyone else does or doesn't do will be immaterial.
Having said that if all were fit I'd still fancy us in the play offs.

If we aren't going to make Automatic - I think I would prefer Cardiff to get that 2nd slot so we avoid them in the play offs.

Never gets old does it. Their club is like a football version of a base rate tracker mortgage - no mater how poorly we do they are guaranteed to be even worse.
Absolute joke of a club, just an Aldi in waiting.

I had a pint with a Boro fan last night, he said Traore has been their MOTM the last six matches. He said Pulis has transformed him and they're now almost a one-man team.

He's just been sent off for violent conduct so I guess that's Boro fucked if your mate is right
