Well that was all very familiar except that it was deserted as droves decided not to bother.
I really had no idea what system we were playing as the players were all over the shop.
Never want to see Grealish in a Villa shirt again, spineless weasel! Oh what about the airshot in the first half, when it was easier to score, utter pratt!
Hourihane did a brilliant impression of the invisible man.
Kodjia was his normal exasperation, another failed scissors kick when he could have just headed it back across goal and then an absolutely pathetic attempt at a clearance to setup Barnsley's third goal!
Then to cap it all, Bruce takes Lansbury and Hutton off, two of our better players but only when the magical 70 minutes has elapsed! The substitutions were ridiculous yet again, Bruce has totally lost it!
Utterly pathetic yet again, I just wonder what the latest excuses will be.

The radio live feed is currently broadcasting white noise which is the best commentary I've heard this year...."I've become an Aston Villa fan by mistake".

Along the lines of "Let's pretend we've scored a goal", shall we start a newcastle match thread where we make up our own commentary and just ignore the reality of this shit team?

Grealish seems to be a player we can't afford to build the team round. By which I mean he doesn't fit into a position we can use. I'd rather see Green on the left wing, or Gabby (yes, him) on the left in a 4-3-3. Grealish doesn't fit in Bruce's preferred 3-5-2 unless he slots in behind the two strikers, but even then I'm still not sure.

Again, I was only listening to the commentary but it didn't take long for Green to have forced three corners. When was the last time Grealish did that in a whole match?

Bruce now has in effect the team he wanted. Sure, Kodjia doesn't like playing up front with someone else but Bruce sold the one that did (Gestede) and loaned out the other (McCormack). I'm still confused about Gestede, he and Hogan would make a good pair. Kodjia is well on his way to scoring 20+ goals for us this season but seemingly at the expense of anyone else getting on the score sheet.

I do like the idea of Green on the left and Adomah on the right, with Audrey or Kodjia partnering Hogan. We need to do something urgently to address the lack of goals, either we play with a packed midfield close in behind Kodjia or he has to learn to play with Hogan (or Audrey).

Have we any idea when he is back? I think Bruce said Barnsley had come 'too soon' so with Barcodes game not being till Monday hopefully he will be ready for selection?

FoxyAV wrote:Radio commentary mentioned how deep we're sitting. It's been mentioned before. We're too defensive,  our whole team needs to move forward 10 or 20 yards and take it to them.

The problem is I don't think anybody in the team has any confidence in the keeper.... Last night & Saturday he conceded more goals than saves made & i trully believe that the midfield is scared to move forward in case the opposition get any sort of shot away because they can't rely on the keeper to save it...

This negative pattern has to stop & the only way is to change the keeper & aim for a clean sheet or two...

Adding a defensive midfielder behind Lansbury & Hourihane would also help both of them in my opinion. I guess that would give us a 3 3 2 2 formation ??? Got to try something because at the moment it ain't working & we are going backwards (literally).

The question is if Jedinak is injured who plays the holding role ? Bacuna, Gardner, Richards, Elphick ??? Villa-Barnsley - Page 5 1787200310 Villa-Barnsley - Page 5 1401410211

Grealish undoubtedly has talent, but in terms of team balance and what we get out of it, we're better off with Green.

Green is a great talent, and I do like direct wingers like him. He has a bit of Albrighton about him and it's exactly what we need.

Grealish is without a doubt a talented player, but I just can't see the use of him unless he bulks up and plays deeper. That way he can ping passes around. It's his vision that's his strength, not beating a player, shots or other stuff you expect from a CAM. I'd argue he's a Pirlo trapped in a 8 year olds physique, unfortunately. Get him to hit the gym, bulk up, get tougher and let him try his luck in central midfield.

Reviewing the St Valentines Day Massacre, Amarvi was directly responsible for their first two goals. He really is a liability defensively (as bad as Hutton ever was) and has been for some time. He does manage to get some quality crosses in though so, for me, its a toss up between him and Green for left wing.

It was funny because the guy behind me was screaming to Amavi don't dive in and what does he do, actually sticks a foot out!
Although it looked very soft to me as the player went over like a sack of potatoes, the linesman didn't give it and the referee was pathetic anyway.
But the bottom line is that Amavi didn't need to give the opportunity for the player to go down or the opportunity for the referee to award a penalty!
The second goal came from a cross from the right back of Barnsley but Amavi was nowhere near him.
He can't play in a flat back four, defensively he is crap but everybody knows this, don't they?

Just watched the "highlights" and I have to ask was it a penalty? If there is any contact it is utterly minimal with no intent whatsoever, the referee was keen to give it, however. Their 2nd goal was spawny, no doubting that. Their 3rd was a decent enough strike to put it in the back of the net but it was, again, pure good fortune that it bobbled into his stride. By not taking chances we are heaping pressure on ourselves and we truly are having no good fortune our way. That said, we have to make our own luck somehow. Extremely irritated by this run of defeats that I can't realistically place solely on misfortune, but no doubting things aren't falling our way at the moment.

Well 4 months ago I chatted casually to a nice bloke whilst he hacked at my sack turning me into a grape (seedless).
Yesterday was the 16 week all-clear test date and because it had to go off in the post same day, I got out of bed and at 07.21 whilst a 3 year old demanded toast and Paw Patrol on TV,  a 9 month old was screaming cos she had a temperature, my 14 year old was banging on the bathroom door telling me he wanted to use the shower, I had X Tube on my mobile watching some Russian tart getting it in the shitter so I could blank out the mayhem and spaff into a plastic pot ready to send off to the lab and await confirmation that I couldn't procreate ever again. At 07.22 (it was a good porn clip) I emerged triumphant from the bog just as Mrs DK sailed past scowling and asking why I hadn't started the 3 year old''s breakfast. I then got my bike gear on and rode to work in freezing fucking howling rain to recommence a job where no one values me and I'm bored by 10 am.
And I still had a better day than today.
Thank you Aston Villa. Thank you very fucking much.

Villa-Barnsley - Page 5 498107619

I had the Snip a couple of years ago and, after fathering five children, I wasn't given much choice.

It was either, have it done surgically, or I'd have been knocked out with Chloroform and bundled into the boot of a car, and the deed would have been done in in the middle of a field with a pair of blunt house bricks. Villa-Barnsley - Page 5 226846862

So it was, that I fought my way past the hordes of women, screaming and wailing outside the clinic.

"Cry your tears, all of you," I told them, "for it is true! You shall never bear my children!"

And so, like DK, I arrived at the same clinic 4 months later, clutching a sample bottle of fresh 'pearl jam'.

I was greeted by a confused looking Yam-Yam woman who said that vasectomies were now carried out in a different clinic, somewhere in Stafford. I asked her where it was, as I could drop it off there myself.

"I down't know" she said. "A'hm not from rowund 'ee-ah, me-self."

(No shit), I thought.

She went away to check and then returned to tell me I could indeed hand her my jizz sample for collection.

The same Yam-Yam woman phoned me at work 4 hours later:

"A'hm ever suh sorry Mister Ranger, but I med a mistake this morning an' your sampul wuz nevah picked up"

Turns out the correct place to drop off the sample was a minute's drive away and I could easily have taken it there myself, had I known.

Now, I would have to wait another month to drop my sample off at the correct place! Villa-Barnsley - Page 5 1327487109

She continued:

"Sow, ah'm afraid to tell you that your sampul 'as been destroyed"

"Come again?"

"Yes, you'll 'ave to do just that, a'hm afraid"
