Re: Villa v Brentford match thread
interesting debate about when RDM's honeymoon period runs out.
he now has the team he wants (I hope so anyway) and needs to make them deliver.
I agree he needs time, but with promotion as a clear target this season - if we don't get points quickly then he will be under pressure. I don't agree with this, but that's the real world.
Then, I worry that a knee jerk reaction is made too quickly, a new manager will come in who also needs time. Then they need the Jan window to "put their stamp on the team" and so on.... Before we know it, it will mid table mediocrity at best (flirting with relegation at worst)
My point being the next few days are hugely important for us. Not just because we need to keep in touch with the leaders but it could really define the rest of the season.
Mind you, ive been saying the next few games are important for the last 43 years....

Re: Villa v Brentford match thread
RDM hasn't had his midfield duo of Tshibola and Jedinak fully fit, available and playing together, as soon as he does and the players have settled in a little I think we'll be fine. Sure they're all professional, but most of the team is new and they're all learning how each other plays. We've had a lot of bad luck and a couple of odd managerial decisions, it would be remarkable if the bad luck continues and the manager doesn't get his act together. I think the January window is going to be interesting in terms of the midfield, I wonder how much RDM is rueing not bringing in another proven midfielder?

4-2-2-2?!
I have no idea what's going on there. Westwood and the Jedi in the middle, Ayew and McCormack on the wings?
Wait, Kodjia on the left, Ayew on the right, McCormack behind Gestede? Could it work?

RDM not wearing his suit tonight opted for a tracksuit, hope that changes his luck, every time I wear my lucky tracksuit to interviews I never get the job.

Just read that Brentford boss Dean Smith is a Villa fan and is from Great Barr. Let's hope his team do us a favour in that case....

We really need a second before half time, sounds like the Forest game at the min, lots of chances that need to be finished.

Gestede and Ayew have been wasteful by the sounds of things. Elphick makes the odd blunder and we're set up for another disappointment as we didn't put away our chances. We seemed to sit back and let them come at us towards the end of the half.
Big test for DiMatteo now. we need to come out positive in the second half.

Only hearing radio commentary so not sure, Ayew had a good chance and Kodjia has had at least 2 and scored 1, Half time now, time for a beer and quick shower.

Re: Villa v Brentford match thread
The commentators are saying we're riding our luck. It doesn't sound like we're controlling the match at the moment.
