New Chairman?
Does anybody know who the new chairman will be?

No.
The 'quality' of the appointment will be a real signpost of long term intent though so I'm trying not to let it keep my mind off work.

Can't see it making much of a difference to be honest, just alleviates blame a bit more with more levels!

Maybe a long-standing fanzine editor and friend of the Board.

I hear hes not even important enough to get invited to the meetings these days so I doubt it! Anyway this new chairman needs to be the experienced and knowledgeable football man we have lacked all along.

I'm told the chap who went along was a decent sort and they will ask for him again as he let the conversation flow without wanting to be the centre of attention.

Can't remember his name but I'm sure his CV mentions valuable experience in rearranging seating on the decks of doomed transatlantic liners.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Tom Fox who becomes Chairman & CEO with the added board member coming to fill the hole and keep the numbers balanced.

Re: New Chairman?
ThinMan got it about right. We can bring in the world's best chairman - which we won't because this club does very little right - but it's all too little, too late now.
In January, we need a top draw goalkeeper, two fullback, a new CB to replace Lescott, a DM to replace Sanchez, a strike who can actually score and a box to box midfielder.
Then we need them all to click from minute one and go on an unbeaten run that will beat all club records.
None of that is going to happen so who really gives a fuck who the chairman is?

Re: New Chairman?
There are people crowing about how honest Fox was at that meeting. 'They realise they have made mistakes' etc. Fucking hell, not only have they made mistakes but they continue to do so, day after day. These mistakes have been major blunders, not little bits of trivia. The current appointment of Garde may well turn out to be another howler and certainly looks that way after Sunday. Remember, how long did it take them to realise that Lambert had no idea and that Sherwood was conning them? The lunatics have well and truly taken over the asylum.

Disagree about Remi - although he's made some curious substitutions I think he's making some sound decisions about which players to stick with (Richardson, Gabby, Lescott until Richards was injured). Until Kozac plays in a senior game we can't judge him, but Remi obviously has a big enough problem not to try him out of desperation. Maybe this shows how he really is thinking long-term - after all Rudy has been a Championship top scorer, which would stand us in good stead if/when we go down, & Ayew is clearly worth investing playing time with.
Was any manager going to be able to galvanise such an inexperienced squad to the point that they would dramatically turn things around before additions? We'll never know, but I don't think so. Maybe I'll reserve judgement until after Remi's shown us how he spends some money.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not turning against Garde yet but fear that he is not the short term fixer that we need. In desperation, I would find a role for BFR. Just to see him charging up and down the touch line would be a boost.

Once. Then he'd keel over and die, he's 76 FFS
I like Ron, always have done and always will, but he's not the answer to any of our issues now. If he was brought in the French contingent would look at him with bemusement and disrespectful little cnuts like Agbonlahor would just snigger.
Unfortunately he is part of history, a relic. He's like this guy. Loveable 'n' all but still a dinosaur.

Re: New Chairman?
Dein?? I'd love to believe that but can't see it. It'd probably give us a fighting chance of, if not staying up, coming straight back up.
Sorry but believe that one when I see it

Can't see him moving from London, absolutely no need for him to get involved in a tinpot outfit like ours!

Getting Dein in would be a coup, he's top drawer and, whilst I'm not sure what he could do to save our sorry arses this season, I'd welcome him on board. As stated, we'd have the best Chairman of any Championship outfit.
As for Usmanov, I think that ship has sailed, if it was ever an option. If he was buying surely it would have made sense to move in when we had better players and weren't almost-certain relegation fodder. Any money he saves on the purchase price will surely be negated by the lack of revenue?
