After 2 solid weeks of defensive drilling with Garde's staff, Richardson might not be as bad as he was under Sherwood. Say what you want about him, but he is a hard worker, and will be putting in effort behind the scenes.

Agreed. He's every bit the professional from what I've seen, I just don't think he's good enough

It'll be a backs to the wall job, there'll be a few shots cleared off the Villa line, the woodwork will be rattled and we'll steal a 1-0 win courtesy of Sinclair. Richardson will have an absolute barn stormer of a game at left back and the future will be rosy once more.

On paper there doesn't look to be enough physicality in the middle for us with Sanchez not starting. Hopefully we can get some good possession in the game.

The same players letting us down all the time. Just waiting for the mandatory Guzan fuck up now and we're set.

At least something good came from today then! Playing a good team but we didn't even set up to try and score today. Poor tactically and worse than anything under Sherwood

Richardson is a disaster and Clark isn't far behind. We're only attacking through Hutton and Gil and no one is there to support Ayew. It's clear we can't defend, but we need to be able to attack to have a chance of actually scoring a goal. Fine to play for 0-0 draws but as soon as we go behind, set up as we are, we don't have a chance of scoring a goal.

How Can we be this crap it's hard to believe. Well champinship here we come.

Garde's decision to play Westwood instead of Sanchez and Grealish in front of Richardson on the left is what killed us so early on.

Grealish is lazy and doesn't track back, Richardson doesn't have the pace to deal with Deulofeu, Westwood can't win a challenge against Barkley, Lukaku, or Kone, and Gil had his worst 45 minutes in a Villa shirt...  As a team, we're sitting way too deep and allowing Everton to swarm us in space.  

The only positives are Richards being a beast of a CB, and Hutton/Ayew's work rate going forward.  I don't see us getting anything out of this match, and can see Everton scoring another 3-4 next half.  Oh well...  Maybe we can get something from Watford next weekend...

Gil is the only player looking like creating something

Think Richardson is one of the absolute worst players I've ever seen for this club in 30 years.

I switched back on the last 3 minutes to get the result, and I just got the foul on Gestede. What the fuck was that about. The referee signaled a free kick, waved play on, the next Villa played got literally smashed by 5 Everton players and he didn't pull the free kick back. Who was this shite ref?

I actually forgot Veretout and Gueye were playing in the first half until about 30 minutes in. Gil and Grealish just weren't strong enough to cover Hutton and Richardson, Everton just played round or through Veretout, Gueye and Westwood, Ayew was in the wilderness and all our scant attacking play went down the right. Richardson was a complete and utter disaster, out of position and being run round in circles, and he dragged Clark in with him. I still think Richardson isn't a bad midfield sub but no more. We had very little movement off the ball, did some excellent defender marking when we did, and seemed to have no real first half plan other than defend and hope.

Second half Ayew did much better playing in Gil's position, and he actually ran at people. Shame he didn't score but - and this is important - at least he had a go, by himself when there was no one else around.

We're screwed on the left without Amavi, we need a dedicated energetic LB, for now I'd go for Bennett, Cissokho was ok defending but no good going forward.

Sanchez was as good as Weswood was bad, he has to start and give us some muscle.

It feels like we went out for a 0-0 draw but with a completely weak left side of Grealish, Richardson and Clark. Richardson was the main problem, with a half decent defender there (there being the operative word, half the time Richardson was AWOL), Clark would have more time to do his own job. I think I'd rather see Gueye in front of Clark and Richardson, Grealish is too lightweight.

Altogether a disaster and a very big learning experience for Garde.

Grealish is shite to be fair. He never does anything, but keep the ball ticking. Ironically people claim Grealish is ace and Westwood that does the exact same thing is shite.

He's young and can become a good player, but right now I think he's a championship level player. I honestly thought he would be better this season, but he's complete turd. Gil is on another level entirely. Twice the player.

If you think Grealish is the same as Westwood you don't know Football one creatives the other passes it like a crab sideways and backwards ,Westwood is so poor or don't you see that ?

I didn't say that either did I? But you are the one now saying Grealish are supposed to create, what has he created all season long? Or today for that matter?

He looks shit scared every time he gets the ball, where he should run at defenders, he take one step forward, two steps back and pass the ball backwards. EVERY TIME.
