Gabby Agbonlahor
I´m afraid its time Gabby had his own thread.
It has become increasingly clear that Gabby simply cannot hack it in the Premier League. In fact, I would go so far as to say that, when included, he is an actual handicap. Its worse than playing with 10 men from the outset because of the loss of possession and confusion amongst the rest of the team. Terrible first touch. Missed chances. Never gets his head up.When defending, loses his man (cost us at least three times last year). Last night, making the same runs as Ayew (and getting in the way). All this for a forward who might manage a handful of goals this season.Even the much vaunted pace is going!
I know he has a recently renewed contract and (inexplicably) has been made club captain, but I hope to not see him start again and best not on the bench either. Personally I would be happy to see him traded to a Championship club for a journeyman defender or whatever.
Sorry,Mr. Aston Villa........ time to go.

I also agree, maybe it's time to loan him out for a season to see if he can perform on another stage.

The time to go was 3 years ago in my opinion. Complete waste of a place picking him week in week out.

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
Talking about has beens, I thought I ought to let you guys know that I've just resigned as a Mod on TBAR. I hope to keep posting on here (unless I get banned of course ).
I've really enjoyed trying to make this forum a decent respectful place to be, and a sound environment in which to post opinions.
Trotters (our site owner) and myself have differing opinions about certain things which I consider to be deal breakers as far as modding is concerned. So I wish Trotters all the best and will enjoy posting on here while working on a different project.
There's currently the dreaded red writing on my posts but that will be removed asap. So while it's still red I'll say .... enjoy yourselves guys and keep it friendly!

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
I would like to add to VB's post and echo his views. It's been a real pleasure posting and modding on here, by and large you guys have been a great bunch and easy on me in my time as a moderator, so thank you so much for that. I've made some really good friends. UTV
I wish to pursue other projects and spend time on those, whilst still contributing to the site as a poster (subject to Trotters approval) I feel I've given TBAR all I can offer and wish it every success for the future.
As VB said, let's enjoy the season, stay positive and be nice.....it's nice to be nice!!
Oh and to get back on topic, I agree, time for Gabby to go too

I'm sorry to hear that VB and GM, you were the people that has made my transition to this forum good as I have been quite happy with the way this place has been controlled. I really hope that is does not go into Sunderland decline lol.
My vote goes to Villa_Dan for mod ! :)

VB GM thank you both for your hard unpaid work. I really enjoy this site and hope that it continues to operate in the same way as it has since it started last year. I hope we still see plenty of you guys as the mighty Villa move onwards and upwards back to where we belong.

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
Back on topic (as you two would have said in your previous rolls), I think Gabby could still have a roll as an impact sub. However sadly, and I mean that, as a starter he just doesn't have enough.
The reason I say sadly, is that he is loyal and loves being a Villa player and there's not many players like that these days. However there is no sentiment in football, so despite being a sentimental old romantic, I think time is rapidly running out for him.

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
I want to thank you boys for all your hard work. This is my favorite Villa forum out there because of the friendly environment and mutual respect shown toward one another by the membership. The work by the moderation staff to clamp down on any trolling or behavior that would disrupt the mood here is fantastic and does not go unnoticed by the members here. Without your dedication, TBAR would slowly have turned into the cesspools of insults and negativity the other major Villa forums have become.

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
Thanks for the kind words guys, Kimbo has a really stressful challenge with his Mum's health for the foreseeable future and can't be on site at the moment, and Maz is great but he's talented and therefore a very busy guy. Some of you guys could do an excellent modding job, but be aware .... it takes a lot of time.

I'd like to publicly thank the lads for doing an extraordinarily good job and I'm disappointed to see them go. All good thoughts with Kimbo and his family at the moment.

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
for me we need the likes of Bacuna, Guzan, Richardson, kozak, players on the fringe of the 1st team that make up a decent squad along with the talented kids, but are ultimately not gonna be reg starters. We need an 11 good enough to keep these on the bench, few more faces needed to make us strong.
Gabby should not even be part of the fringe, his level is Wolves, Burnley etc, part of management is making very difficult decisions and I'm afraid by making Gabby club captain, TS has made this tough for himself.
GABBY OUT!

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
I too am sorry to see you chaps stand down. This is the only Villa forum I read and that's because I enjoy the posts on here and it's so well moderated. I'm sure Trotters will keep it all going and glad to see you're still posting.
As far as Gabby goes, I don't think Sherwood is selecting him because of his loyalty. I agree he's an impact sub (until such a time as he earns his place) but there must be something going on with Kozak at the moment and presumably Gestede and Ayew aren't yet up to speed. Let's just hope it's out of necessity. The team is going to look different with Grealish, Gil and Traore playing so let's see if and how Gabby is played in the next couple of matches.

Re: Gabby Agbonlahor
Thanks guys. I'll still be around when possible and as far as I'm concerned, nothing will change in terms of how this site operates.
Have fun, speak your mind, don't take it too seriously.
As for Gabby. He's been too comfortable for too long. He hasn't looked dangerous for 5 years or more. He's not a striker, not a winger, not a midfielder. He's a figurehead poster boy for one of "our own" making it. Hence this club captain nonsense.
Sherwood must know he is limited and ineffective and once we have some better strikers in place, Gabby will hopefully be phased out. It gives me no pleasure in saying that. He should, with his pace and power, be unplayable. But as it is he's unpickable.
I can't believe anybody sees his name on the team sheet with any relish.
