Do your job Fox
Welcome Tom Fox - new CEO
Thought I'd start this as the rumours are pretty strong that we'll have a new CEO by this time next week.
Pre-requisites for me are:
1. He's old enough to shave.
2. He's not another's of Randy's yes men.
3. He is a football man.
4. He's not ginger. And fat.
5. He's not from North Korea (but I'm willing to be flexible on this)

I wouldn't mind Steve Stride back but that will never happen.

It will be somebody whom he already knows or has connections with. Lerner does not think outside of his box and trusts very few people.

Adding to that above, if its not then it will be a big clue that new owners are around the corner.

I think new owners are miles and miles away from the corner
We will be stuck with Randy for a while yet, and the clueless manager

I have a feeling it will be Graham Taylor if no takeover is in place. I know he is not CEO material but was Faulkner. I am expecting a frenzied munch on a doughnut to find it has fuck all jam in it. Its how Lerner operates one nightmare appointment after anothrt

How or why would it be Graham Taylor?
What business knowledge / experience does he have?

Re: Tom Fox: CEO
I think people are getting DOF and CEO mixed up. Someone like Houllier have a great understanding of football, transfers, tactics, etc whereas a CEO just needs to be able to drive the business side of things.
If the CEO has no real footballing knowledge then he needs a DOF or a really good administrator like Steve Stride as a link between the business and the playing side of things.
Disaster happens when there's no connection between the two because the manager then starts dictating what needs to happen and, unchecked, can get well out of control (the MoN situation).
Of course, a DOF brings it's own set of issues but it's preferable to our last set up.
It's sickening to think that Randy had it right at the start of his ownership and dismantled it all for a bloke who he thought was the messiah and all he'd ever need.

Its my experiences with Lerner you have to expect the unexpected dissapointment. It could well be someone who is very good if this is the case then i feel a takeover is very near. If it is somene of the Taylor mould then i feel the takeover is miles away

I think the appointment will tell us a lot about what is going on in terms of a takeover.

I think you're right Ebeneezer. Will certainly show if it's a short or long term thing, depending on who's appointed

Re: Tom Fox: CEO
There are chairman who can keep a club ticking over and then there are those that can supercharge a club, see the future and market to that. The kind of people who look at naming rights, social networking expansion, feeder clubs, sponsorship link-ups, etc.
Taylor I think is the first one. He'd easily keep a club motoring along nicely but he's not what a new multi billionaire owner would want.

Re: Tom Fox: CEO
I think Taylor at 74 or whatever he is, at best could be football director and advisor to the board. Has no real 'business' acumen, which as highlighted in Trotters second point, is what we really need and any new owners would want.

Re: Tom Fox: CEO
A little update on the CEO position. It appears the man identified could be an employee of the BBC, which would give a link to Graham Taylor. At this stage, it's speculative, so I urge caution. I'll try and find out more though folks. In the interests of debate (only) what would you make of Taylor at the Villa in some capacity? Who else is employed their that has football experience and could be a candidate? discuss...

Re: Tom Fox: CEO
We need an experienced administrator who is good at dealing with top guys at other clubs. He needs a full contacts book and a touch of the brutal when it comes to getting things signed and sealed. He has to be energetic, vigorous and a bit of a bully. Graham's a nice guy, but he's too old to roll up his sleeves and punch his weight, and he's certainly too old to kick arse.
