The quality of the output AVTV has and it's production team leads me to believe its funded from a whip round for the petty cash tin

as much as an arse I think Lerner is, I think the club is barely supporting itself with the tv money.

Indeed!
Surely a warning for all those misguided people who yearn for a mythical rebirth in the Championship.

Re: Randy Lerner
I'm meant to be at work, but having finally tracked down some interesting accounting information:
our Footballers Salaries
2009 - £70m
2010 - £80m
2011 - £83m
2012 - £70m
2013 - £72m
(We pay around £10m on top of this for admin staff etc)
And for comparison, Stoke City:
http://companycheck.co.uk/company/00099885/STOKE-CITY-FOOTBALL-CLUB-LIMITED/financial-accounts#financials
Wages and salaries of £60m, (including administrative staff, so probably more like £53m on footballers)

Re: Randy Lerner
Player market values inc fees an wages are mental. The never ending drive to stay in the Prem has become and end in itself and to hell with the quality of football. Lernet, for me, has conducted the finaces appropriately and actually should commended for this. Lambert has laboured under a squeezed budget- not what he envisaged when he came I suspect. The finances seem better, especially with the new tv deal. We'll see very shortly :-)

Bare in mind when the next set of accounts are released we will have made a profit (before any tv and table placings money)

Where will the profit come from? We haven't sold anyone which is usually what we need to boost our income.

This will also be the first season that the Financial Fair Play rules are to be enforced. Clubs will undoubtedly find a way around these, but we shall see what effect, if any, the new rules have.

We've seen Man Citeh tell them that they'll just pay the fine, I don't see any of the top 4/6 suffering from sanctions.

Re: Randy Lerner
We last used the "Randy Lerner" thread over four months ago. That shows how invisible he is in the whole Villa process, and yet we have to accept that he is still the guy making the decisions.
So, Randy arrived in Birmingham just after lunchtime yesterday (his plane departed four hours later). Assuming he's still at BMH what's on the agenda.
Final attempt to nail down Delph and Vlaar to new contracts?
Finalise the January target list with Fox, Lambert and Reilly?
Decision on a new first team coach to implement more entertaining football?
Or did he just pop in with a Christmas hamper and leave yesterday tea time?

Delph more so than Vlaar in my opinion as we have adequate cover for Ron 'putty calves' Vlaar....there is no decent cover for Delph.
I was intrigued to read that Delph fell out with Roy Keane way back in July....this could mean two things...a) He is a top professional for the his level of performance this season whilst being coached by a bloke he couldn't stand, and b) perhaps this is the reason he has held off signing a new deal. With Keane now gone maybe, just maybe he will put pen to paper.

Just dropped by, as I don't have too much to say at the moment - like others, our performances are leaving me speechless!
Not sure where the above info came from, but the last time Randy Lerner's aircraft darkened these shores was October, leaving BHX to Liverpool (for the game) and then back home.

Hi Trees, good to hear from you.
It's possible that the compiler was on one og his 'too much White Lightning' days.
It does tend to make him imagine things

Report in Daily Mail today(Charles Sale)
Reporting that Paul Allen is interested in buying Villa.
Allan is the richest owner in the NFL whose Seattle Seahawks have reached back to back Super Bowls.
Allen's investment vehicle Vulcan said 'This is Americans talking to Americans'
Can't see any mention else where only in Daily Mail

El Supremo has spoken
A statement from Our illustrious chairman
Following several brutally challenging years at Villa, Paul Lambert arrived with a fresh view and a proven style and track record. It was our hope, and belief, that Aston Villa would find its footing and strengthen during Paul's tenure with the club.
Adding players and investing in the squad over the last three years has strengthened Villa, and it is our hope that given the quality, leadership and team spirit at Bodymoor Heath that we can rise to the occasion for the remainder of the season.
I want very much to thank Paul for his commitment to me personally, and to Villa, and wish him well personally and professionally in his future endeavors.
Says it all really

Re: Randy Lerner
He still hasn't got a clue has he!
I must have missed the investment in the squad over the last three years bit, and I'm also struggling to decode the "quality and leadership" that's going to carry us through to the end of the season.
No need for a new manager while we've still got Keane, Culverhouse, Karsa etc at BodyMoor Heath is there Randy (don't worry I've got my finger on the pulse) Lerner?
