Leeds vs Aston Villa match thread

I must admit guys, I'm not exactly brewing with confidence as we head into this game. Leeds are a very an up and down side and when they play well they can be a real handful. It's even tougher when you have to go to Ellend right under the lights and it's a big crowd on the big stage which this game is. We saw last season how tough it can be, and I suspect it will be a similar atmosphere to the one we faced last season. In that game we had a lot of chances to go ahead but of course we didn't take them, this season though I think we're made of different stuff. Yes, sometimes the football can be tedious but the lads have been ruthless of late and are getting the job done by any means necessary. We totally played QPR off the park the other week, then we battled our way to a scrappy win against Sunderland, so we can do it both ways.

We've won four out of the last six away games and this is very much another big test. We all know what's on the line. A draw here would be decent I guess, a win would be epic and really put our rivals on the backfoot. What should give us hope is our last two away games have been Preston and QPR, which are arguably two of our most dominant performances of the whole season. IF we can play like we did in those games, then I think Leeds will be in for a very long night tbh.

In injury news Jedinak is set to be out for a month or so so it's gonna be interesting to see who replaces him on the bench. I'd like to think Elphick will be the one as going into a game without an experience Centre-back on the bench would be beyond stupid imo. And tbh I wasn't comfortable with Bruce playing Jedinak at the back anyway.

Have a bad feeling about this one, Leeds are a good footballing side and will offer the likes of Hutton and Samba a completely different challenge to the one they faced in the last three games.

Can't keep relying on Adomah for goals either, he's going through a good spell at the moment, but it's unrealistic to expect him to keep that up indefinitely, the likes of Davis, Hourihane, Snodgrass and others need to help out too.

If this was at VP I think most would be much more positive. But because of the experiences we've had away from home, and on sky aswell, I guess folks are finding it hard to be overly confident. I mean, no doubt about it this could be a very challenging game tonight. But on the other hand, I watched Sheff Utd absolutely run them ragged at Ellend Road not so long ago and Leeds were all over the place defensively whilst also looking nervous in possession. So if we start fast and stamp our authority early then I think we could have a decent night.

We've picked the same side that went to QPR and won so impressively. And the front six is the same one who were good at Preston aswell so we just have to hope that the lads can click again on the road. Want to see Davis have another big game. He was instrumental in those last two away wins I mentioned and it would be lovely to see him score too.

Not a pretty half whatsoever, out-played and struggling to get a clue. Not been in it at all really, it'll take a big reversal of focus and fortune to get back into the game so that's the test of the team and of Bruce now.

BUT what has Johnstone had to do? No chance with their goal, that lies on Samba. But it wouldn't take an ungodly effort to be more competitive

I don't get the sense he's a prima donna, I think he's an incredibly promising young player who takes it very hard when it doesn't go his way, more like he doesn't yet have the maturity or experience to support his obvious talent.

Edit - I think it was clear from the start we would only ever be a stepping stone for him and Spurs. Anyone surprised or disappointed by the news he can't wait to return to Spurs is kidding themselves, it is exactly what it was going to be.

Im not bothered if he wants to go back to spurs or not. he's been half arsed in this game. everything bounces off him tonight. Twice he's passed to the advertising hoardIngs from under 10 yards. Every time he's touched the ball he's given it away.

there's clearly a player in there but in that role you have to impose yourself in a game and he hasn't done that again. we can't afford passengers.
