deadbuzzardalive wrote:Not a great result for us tonight, we're now seven points off the automatic promotion spots, and I'm not convinced Sheffield United are going to regress too much; that's Leeds, Wednesday and Wolves they've beaten now, in recent times.

They've got a feel to them similar to teams like Southampton, Bournemouth, Swansea and others. Clubs who've come through the leagues, by playing good football.

I don't know what to think tbh because whoever won would have been a "bad result". I must say though, having watched the game last night that performance was quite stunning from Sheff U. They completely dominated Leeds on their own patch and Leeds getting anything from the game would have been daylight robbery. Leeds look a shell of the team that were getting rave reviews at the start of the season. They were making so many errors at the back it was ridiculous. They don't really have any pace in attack either. I think it might be better for them to slip out of contention, rather than congest the top six. Sheff U have lost four games already, so they are beatable. I also think suspensions and injuries could mess them up as they rely on key individuals, plus a formation that they've totally mastered, to get results. Once some of those individuals aren't there, then I so many bumps in the road for them.

All we need to do is keep pushing and pushing. Over the course of the season, I truly believe our quality, and experience, will be able to get us over the line. But we MUST take the opportunities that come our way and tomorrow we have a chance to go above Leeds. We must grab that with both hands now.

A win against the noses today will go some way to convincing me that a corner has been turned and we are real contenders to an automatic promotion place. There’s the normal pressure of it being the local derby added to the pressure of knowing that 3pts makes very good inroads on other teams where results went well for us. It will do the mentality and confidence of the players the world of good to know they can capitalise on others slip ups. Could be a pivotal weekend of the season.

We can't really win tonight with the Norwich v Wolves and Leeds V Derby fixtures; either one of Norwich or Derby win and we find ourselves outside the play-offs, or Wolves and Leeds win and they widen the gap on us.

Also intrigued to see what happens in the Sunderland v Bolton game.

It's a marathon my friend, not a sprint Very Happy . I'd happily see those two games either end in a draw or a Norwich and Derby win. Two draws would keep us in the top six on goal difference. Whilst Wolves and Leeds losing would be good because they are seen as two of the better sides. Wouldn't be surprised to see QPR nick something from Sheff U aswell tbh. And Bristol going to Fulham could also work in our favour too. Whatever the case, we'll have to do the business tomorrow regardless of how results go tonight.

Yes if we have confidence in ourselves to be challenging top two in the long run, then defeats for Leeds and Wolves tonight would actually be a good thing, despite us losing our top six status. Would put a bit more pressure on tomorrow though.

The Cardiff vs Ipswich game is just as important as the Wolves/Leeds one aswell. A draw there would be decent too. Basically, tonight and tomorrow is a free for all where the top six is concerned. So many places could change on a single result.

Leeds, Wolves and Cardiff all winning, Sheffield United losing to QPR. So as it stands we're still in the play-offs but nine points from the top two. Whatever happens tomorrow is a game we really could do with winning.

It's annoying playing after everyone else - as often happens to us with being a draw for the cameras - and having to play catch up, gives us a psychological disadvantage.

Sunderland losing and Ameobi scores of all people, I really thought Grayson would do an okay job. I remember going on 'readytogo' in the summer and they were laying into us for signing Terry, making out he was no better than O'Shea.

And now not only are we eight points adrift of the top two, but also out of the top six on goal difference with Middlesbrough beating Hull 0-2.

These scorelines are really annoying, pretty much everything is going against, we probably wouldn't be in this position if only Bruce had have been a bit braver at the weekend. Could do with at least Hull getting a goal back at Middlesbrough.

Tonight's results could hardly have gone any worse for us, we find ourselves eight points adrift of automatic promotion, and down to eighth in the table.

Have a feeling Bruce will play it safe tomorrow and go for the draw knowing that that will take us back into the play-off spots, but it's that top two we really should be aiming for.

I try not to worry about what other teams are doing, we know we have to win tomorrow, if only to improve our away form. The good thing is that we are certainly not playing anywhere near our potential but we are up there, so hopefully we will get better as the season progresses! Scarf Waving

Yep, it was annoying. But like I said mate there's still plenty of time to go. Leeds are just imploding, aren't they? And despite Derby benefitting from it, in the long run, I think that was a good result for us. Norwich were on a great run until they lost at Arsenal and they've started to fall apart again which is good. Sheff Utd slipped up just like I thought they would. I'm a little concerned about Boro suddenly creeping up but with the squad that they have I guess we have to expect them to win the odd game. Fulham are just in a mess but tbh going to Wolves on saturday could suit them as they appear to be much better away from home these days.

The bottom line is we have an opportunity to go five points behind second spot tonight. I get what you mean about Bruce maybe going defensive but with Preston's patched up defence I think that would be criminal. Got to take it to Preston and try and take our chance to go fifth. Also got to mention Bristol!!!..bloody hell they are doing well!!!...but I still think that there's a bunch of teams in that top six who have the potential to collapse tbh...including Wolves.

Yes, if we win tonight things will look a lot better.

Meanwhile at Wolves Guillem Balague, who's been pretty accurate on Wolves since the takeover, is reporting that Everton have got in contact about taking Nuno and 'Mendes is listening'.

LOL that would be absolutely EPIC if that happened Laughing Everton are the far bigger team of course and have money themselves so it would be a no brainer tbh. Although watch the Wolves scum try to claim that they are somehow "in a better position" then Everton Championship rivals thread 2017/18 - Page 7 498107619

I've already seen some of them say things like that they're the better long term option and if it was PSG, Man City or Real Madrid, they'd be worried but not Everton. A lot of Wolves fans seem to think at the moment that they're the most attractive proposition outside the top six.

It would be funny if he was to leave, but I think Everton will go for a big name.

Case in point!!..look at this idiot

Tom Wolves Tastic‏ @tomtastic09 30m

Fosun are only behind Sheikh Mansour of Manchester City in the money Nuno knows this. There's no way he will leave Wolves for Everton.

They honestly think they are the second richest club in England? Very Happy So I guess we should expect them to outspend Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal if they get promoted right? LOL They really are a clueless bunch of pr/cks. They haven't even outspent US!!..that's what makes such statements so laughable.

I can't see it to be honest, but hoping for a Fulham win tonight. Wolves fans are celebrating the fact that Nuno has turned down the Everton job, although he was probably never even offered it, as it was Balague a friend of Mendes who started the rumour in the first place.

He wasn't offered it. Balague was told of "interest", then backtracked the same day. But the bookies picked up on it and that's why the story became bigger than it was. Anyway yeah, you'd make Wolves favourite but I just have a funny feeling the real Fulham might turn up tonight. They have the weapons to hurt Wolves and as we saw with Bristol and Barnsley going there and causing them problems, anything can happen.

Wolves 2-0 up, although going by the BBC text commentary the game sounds a bit more even than that might suggest. Looks like a long way back for Fulham now though. I was extra pleased when we beat them because I thought it proved we can beat the divsion's best teams, but their form since suggests that they're anything but.
