Dr T has said Hernández will never happen after last year. Wonder what he did to upset us.

Oh well I was hoping for a swap deal with Big Mac?
Once you upset Tony it seems that he can hold a grudge?
Left wing is our biggest weakness for the Hull game?

We were the 4th worst at goalscoring last season. Kjodia is injured for around the first month. I really fail to see where a hefty increase in goals is coming from. Sure Whelan and Elmo might provide some improvement in this area - but an extra 20-25 goals ? - Im just not seeing it.
Thats going to be our stumbling block this year- without another striker we are struggling to score goals IMO.
Bruce had better start setting up the team to play to Hogan's strengths then. I suspect we'll see him and Gabby up front together and we'll just have to cross our fingers.
Whilst there is some merit in that argument. I think Hogan has to up his game massively - he has been very poor since he has been here - his lack of ability on the ball sends a shive down my spine.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
I have to say I'm very impressed with the club managing to get 1.5m for Cissokho, it really does seem like Wyness and co have finally adopted the "Levy" way of negotiating. So how much funds have we brought in this summer now then?
Veretout= 6m
Baker= 4m
Sanchez= 2.5m
Cissokho=1.5m
Total= 14m
And we've only spent 2.5m which means we've made a profit of 11.5m this summer. And with Elphick, Gardner, Mccormack and Amavi still here the profit could rise a whole lot more by the time the window closes.
As for Snodgrass. Would make sense wouldn't it? loads of Championship and Premiership experience knows Bruce etc. Think it would take our attack to another level tbh.
And in other news, Boro appear to have lost hope in signing Sheyi Ojo, so that means he might be choosing us or Fulham. Also whispers going around that MCCormack will be going on loan to Sunderland before this weekend.
Lastly with Bruce talking about going into the loan market. I just wanted to throw a few names out there who he could possibly target.
1. Lewis Baker
Chelsea and England u21 midfielder who has scored goals in his last few spells in Holland for Vitesse.
2. Jeremie Boga
Another Chelsea midfielder who spent last season on loan in La Liga. Has great skills on the ball and can spot a pass.
3 Jon Toral
Spanish midfielder from Arsenal. Has Championship experience already having spent time at the blues where he scored six goals. Would be a decent signing either on loan or permanent imo.
4. Marko Grujic
Really talented player from Liverpool but one wonders about how much first team action he will get this season at Anfield. Might not be a lot so might be worth a try.
5. Cameron Brannagan
Would probably be the easiest one to get tbh. Decent young player with a wide range of passing. Not sure he'd score a lot but worth looking at if there are no other options.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
I can't understand why we'd contemplate letting McCormack leave on loan to what will be a rival days before the season gets underway, especially with Grealish being out for possibly four months after being the No10 in a 4-4-1-1. As the man behind the striker surely that's where we'd be looking for McCormack to operate with no other obvious No10? And what about Hogan? Where is he fitting in amongst all of this, what with Gabby now seemingly the preferred front man due to the avalanche of goals he has smacked in pre-season? Have we spunked another £10-12m up the wall with Hogan with seemingly no plan of how or where to integrate him into the team? Hourihane anyone? As it stands I just see us really struggling to score the goals required.

Amazing isn't it, bearing in mind Hourihane scored a few and created a load of assists in the Championship before moving to Villa.
The problem with Hogan is that he's a Bruce signing, and I can see him being shoehorned in regardless. I don't see why he and Gabby can't play together though, the more I think about it the more it makes sense, but only bearing in mind the alternatives. I reckon Bruce tried out Gabby up front with Grealish behind against Watford to see how the formation would work once Kodjia returned. Audrey really needs to stay fit once he's recovered and make a case for himself and both Hogan and Gabby need to get in some early goals or our new tactic is going to be to bounce the ball off enough defenders to give Terry and Samba a few pops at corners. Whatever, I hope the rumours of Hernandez are true, I'd be very interested to see him playing with Hogan or Kodjia (if that's possible).

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
I have heard those 'whispers' about McCormack going on loan to Sunderland in time for their game against Derby on Friday, which in my opinion is utter b*ll*cks!
Why would we loan him out with still four weeks of the transfer window to go, especially to one of our Championship rivals!
Someone will buy him before the transfer window closes, as before last season his record was pretty impressive especially at this level. In the right team he could easily re-discover his touch and Villa would look pretty silly if we let him go on loan and that is putting it nicely!

I feel it's a bit ridiculous to loan him to a club who clearly have funds at their disposal thus making them a potential rival with lots of money still to invest in further signings

Yeh, but I kinda trust Wyness with this. They have done good so far in terms of getting good deals for us.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
Mccormack has major off the field issues - thats why the club are keen to off load him - from what I have heard we won't get any kind of fee for him at all. He is damaged goods. I heard this rumour last autumn and nothing I have seen or heard since leads me to believe it isn't true.
It would seem last summer we were the only club to either not do our due diligence or took on almighty gamble.

South American media are claiming that we're after Swansea winger Jefferson Montero HERE. Read on twitter that Swansea would want 4.5m for him which to me would be a brilliant deal. I think he'd rip this league apart with his pace and skill tbh and hope it will happen.

Taking note of the situation the player is currently in, taking his place on the transferable list of the Welsh team, despite having extended contract multi-yearly last February, Aston Villa, the team where he spent the former World Cup winner Ulysses Of the Cruz in the last decade, thinks of the name of new Ecuadorian to face the challenge of returning to the 'Premier League', being this one of InfoEmbajador Jéfferson Montero.
The Football Insider website reveals the interest of the "villains" to immediately sign the 27-year-old Rio finalist in this window of transfers from the old continent open until August 31, in which they would see facilitated the option to acquire The contract of the compatriot by the disposition assumed by the people of Swansea to negotiate to the soccer player, fallen in disgrace before the eyes of the French trainer Paul Clement, who in the present conformation of the "Swans" has to Montero like third or fourth option to enhance The team's attack.
It is worth mentioning that last week the enthusiasm of the Al-Rayyan catarí group was reported, placing 4.5 million Euros on the table to link the InfoEmbajador, and just this figure is the reason that motivated the managers of Aston Villa and the Coach Steve Bruce to test the alternative of taking "Jeff" to the city of Birmingham, seat of this militant entity in the main English promotion division: English Legue Championship.

Swansea City fans take aim at winger Jefferson Montero on social media following pre-season contest in Philadelphia
The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from South Wales this summer
ByTom Coleman
Swansea City began their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-2 draw with MLS outfit Philadelphia Union this weekend, but while Paul Clement declared himself happy with what he saw from his charges, one Swan still found himself on the receiving end of criticism from fans.
Despite travelling out with the rest of the squad across the Atlantic, Jefferson Montero has been strongly linked with a move to pastures new this summer, and it's safe to say some supporters will not be too upset if his exit is confirmed.
The club tweeted a video showing the players arriving at the Talen Energy Stadium ahead of their contest with the Union, with Montero seen dancing his way to the dressing room and cheekily gesturing towards the camera.
Jefferson Montero goes off injured in Swansea City's 1-1 draw with Manchester United
However, despite clearly having good-humoured intentions, the winger's actions did not go down well with a section of Swans fans on social media, some of whom did not hold back in offering some pretty brutal assessments.
The Ecuadorian largely struggled to assert himself on the first team set-up due to injury problems last season, suffering from hand, calf and hamstring complaints.
As a result, he was limited to just 14 appearances last term, causing his stock to sink dramatically from what was a superb start to life in South Wales during the 2015-16 season.
Montero's early performances saw him attract praise from pundits and fans alike, and were so impressive that he was even linked with a surprise move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, although his injury problems have seen him fall down the pecking order since Clement's arrival.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Montero, while Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are another team to be mentioned. However, the club have confirmed no bid has yet been made.

This might be totally unrelated to us. But a Villa fan on twitter who is flying back to Birmingham from Zurich right now, is claiming a Basel player by the name of Renato Steffan is on his flight....
And
IF this is true, then could he be heading to B6? We know our scouts watched Basel a lot whilst scouting Thor, so who knows? He's a left winger who got four goals and eleven assists last season so I think he'd be a great addition to the side.
And
Mark Bennett
at zurich airport and we're on the Birmingham plane
