Do or die time isn't it? We don't want him if we get to the Premier League and if we don't, he hasn't done what he's been signed to do. Plus there's no chance of him coming up against his beloved Chelsea.
I wonder if he will be off to China next season and if this is part of the deal?

Did anyone else notice that John Terry turned up for his photo in full kit and he hasn't even played any minutes yet.

Hi folks - hope everyone is well!
JT eh!?
Well whatever I think of the bloke off the pitch, he's a leader on it and as long as he isn't here to while away a year - and I truly think he isn't - this could be a great signing.
Hope it works out as there'll be a lot of bitter people - *jabs elbow in the direction of St Andrex - who would love to see it all go wrong. My feeling is that he'll be great for us, and if injury free, could be pivotal in our push for promotion. I really hope so.
Plus anything that pisses off old melted welly face makes me smile as well.

Apparently Villa have signed John Terry!
I wish I could disbelieve my source but it seems very definite to the effect that I have had a bet on it!
Well that has paid for my season ticket.
It was all sorted in Portugal but obviously only verbally so anything could have happened after but JT kept his word although he had better offers elsewhere.
He is definitely not coming here to make up the numbers so having seen his interview, lets get behind him and especially the team!
I expect Bruce now to resort to his favoured back 3 with wing backs.

I think its a certainty that we draw them in one or both of the cups then whats he going to do ?????

I never had any doubts your info was sound, anyone willing to put his money on it has to be true.

Not sure we've had a REAL captain since Dennis Mortimer. Not that it's certain JT will be captain.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
Terry already talking like a manager in that video, some might say he might undermine Bruce, but I think having Terry around and the affect he'll have on the other players, in the sense of bringing out the best in them, might just save him his job.
Hopefully this also helps with attracting other players to the club as well, for all we know, we still might have some other ambitious targets further up the field, that haven't been mentioned in the press yet.

IMO we now have the best defender in the league, the best forward in the league, an ok midfield and no goalkeeper, what's going on DR TONY sort it out.

Do they have no sense of how ridiculous they sound?
In mid June they're gloating about how Dr Tone's feathers are ruffled because they're gonna beat us to his signature. They even fantasise about what our reaction will be when it happens. We will all say Terry's old, past it, too expensive, not right for Villa etc.
Two weeks later? Cue two pages of posts about how he's old, past it, too expensive, not-right-for-Blues etc.
And how did this mythical sense of "what is right for the great Birmingham City" manifest itself? A twitch of the nose? A feeling in the Waters? A disturbance in The Force?
No! It was a picture of JT in a Villa shirt! Amazing!
It's so transparent a child could spot what's going on, but these are grown men, and they can't even see how pathetic they sound.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
Two things that I hope signing Terry doesn't lead to, us continuing to sit deep, because of his dimminishing pace, and Bruce playing five at the back, we're meant to be after a winger so I don't think the second will happen, and sitting deep wouldn't be so bad if we filled the team with pace, so we could play on the break.
Will be interesting to see if he takes the captaincy, I don't see how he can't really, I'm pretty sure Chester will be fine with it.

Winger, with André Green in the team? Or is Bruce after someone in their 30s with lots of experience? Green was a bit injured last season but it would be great to take advantage of his skill and speed and play him when he's fit.

As long as Green's fit then I think he'll get games, but I don't think we should be placing too much responsibility on him. We've been linked to George Boyd (who's now signed for Wednesday) and Chris Eagles in the media, but whether they're suggestive of they type of winger we'll go for in reality I'm not sure.
Also Alan Nixon saying that Wednesday are in for Alan Hutton, and that we're prepared to let him go, as long as they pay a fee; he's only one year left on his contract so I imagine it won't take much, for us to accept.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
Would be great to get rid of Hutton. Yes, he did have a decent spell last season but the fact of the matter is we've got more than enough quality at right-back with De Laet and Bree there. If we can get 2m for him we should snap their hands off and put the money towards getting a quality attacking midfielder.
I also hope the club are wise enough to put a sell on clause into the Amavi deal. Because you just know he will flourish somewhere and come back to haunt us won't he?

Question I have In my mind lads. Do you think Terry may be able to influence a few of his old Chelsea teammates to join him in B6 on loan maybe? I'm thinking about the lad Loftus-Cheek!!!..think he'd be brilliant for our midfield tbh.

I think that's a very good point. We often see it with managers who have strong links with ex-clubs, but if you think about Terry, he's only just left/was a legend for them and there must be some players whose wives he hasn't slept with, and they might be interested in joining if he can influence them!
I do think that Villa would still need to be putting in some top performances/be high in the league though - it's one thing to link up with your mates, it's entirely another to ask someone to do so if the team are abject.
We have to match our ambition with performances, and start getting VP full again.

It does concern me that they'll be a few Championship strikers relishing a chance to prove themselves against Terry - hope he's up to it.

I'd be surprised if he played all that much. Baker and Chester will be the first team pairing methinks, and I really hope they do as well.
